(Flight Director) Throwing The Ka50 Around This is not a step by step, this is for those that have done the basic training and have most of the fundamentals down. Now let's see what she can really do. So it's sort of a tutorial, it's more of an example also of what you can do with the Ka-50 with (Flight Director) on. Something you try and practice for single player or Multiplayer. In Multiplayer it can be much more harder as seen here in this video of course. As you generally have to deal with many aircraft trying to shoot at you also. Looking forward to the Ka-50 upgrade and firing some fox2's back.:)

Hi dave-uk, Welcome to DCS and the forums. That PC (RTX 2070 Super) is good for a 2K (2560 x 1440) screen on high settings @60+ fps. It will handle VR, you will need to play with the settings tho to get the balance. DCS is great in VR, it's also one of the largest application for VR. So it's always a balance to find eye-candy vs FPS. You need to hold 45fps min on the Rift with it's technology. Get all setup in 2D first and lean parts of the aircraft you keen on, you will need to bind extra commands for VR. I.E you cannot see the keyboard. Try to find the mouse to click landing gear. This is were I add a modifier button to the throtte, holding this down you can remap all the buttons again. Giving you double the buttons available witch is good for VR, not so good when starting out and learning the basics and remember all the modifier buttons also. Help with General hardware setup (PC Hardware and Related Software) section. VR setup (Virtual Reality) section Have fun, take your time and get setup. Don't get frustrated, it's a bit of a learning cure. Post away in the forum. Many here to help, from aircraft questions to pc and vr setup. Get up to speed quicker by downloading Chuck's Guides

Hi TheSledge, Welcome to DCS and the forums. WOW you went all out. Enough content there to last you years. You want to really learn to "fly" first? That will make all the other aircraft seem to easy? Spitfire or 109. Doing circuits, touch and go's etc. You will need to refine your controls for these craft tho. What controls do you have? I have a full VKB gunfighter with a 200mm extension which enables me to have zero axis cure. In game axis cure allows you to fine tune the center of the stick to make the middle less sensitive. Read the Essay's about taildraggers by an instructor at the top of the spitfire thread. Parts 1, 2 and 3 The A-10C will be easier to fly and navigate. It will take you many weeks / months to get proficient at the systems controls and weapons. Then some strategy and tactics......Oh and enemies defences:cry: It's A LOT to take in and take your time with it, most things are modeled. You can make it your virtual career to be fully proficient at it + combat training . It is a REAL training sim in real life. and this is where I recommend you try a few things out, find something you really enjoy and really dig in. The A-10 will keep you going for ........... Well ever. I still need refreshing at times to be good for online play vs other people / ground commanders. The game manuals are found ( ) C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\ DOC The aircraft manuals are found under each aircraft name / doc file C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta(Or Stable)\Mods\aircraft Broken down manuals by Chuck (highly recommended) For any aircraft, especially the A-10C and the end game? Once half proficient you might like to join others online down the track, you can learn real fast with help and dynamic action. It's a bit of a big leap for some(Like flying for real and talking to ATC for the first time), once done you will not go back..... DCS now also has VOIP built in many use dcs simple radio. This connects the radio's in DCS. I.E set the radio's in the A-10 to 135 and you can talk to the team when flying together. This is were you also learn and get an idea what it's really like being proficient at X aircraft, working with a team to get X done, watching each others backs against other teams PVP or AI PVE (PVP) player vs Player (PVE) Player vs. Environment In any case you need basic skills first, navigation GPS/VOR/TACAN Fly a radial. Take off and Land, get to IP point etc. Good read for the A-10 Hog Basics Great missions for the A-10C A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification A-10C Advanced Aircraft Training Qualification A-10C Tactical Training Qualification Many good campaign's too, to test the skills.

Hi john99vette and welcome to the forum If you have many things plugged in to your pc, xbox controllers etc. You may need to use the horizontal slider at the bottom to see more controllers in the list.

This works with the CV1 I tested it with. You need to redo the views to make them work for some reason. Make your own as shown here with using a 2D monitor https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4113647#post4113647 Then bind a button to said snap view, I use a modifier + button. Examples

Also take a look at this app by Skatezilla One click to switch, once setup.

Tried VR for the first time.
David OC replied to DocSigma's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It takes a bit to get used to it. Stay with level flight and slowly do more and move. I was also mixing it with a few driving sims which I think may have helped to get good with it quicker. -
The way I see it, which I have said before. There are way to many options for ED to code in to get this all right (How many devices and Rez). Most of these studies are for a fix type of sim and training, not a complete world sim, think civi sims..
-
There greenies these map people and don't like cutting down the trees, even if on the roads / bridges lol. We should start a detailed list exactly where all these trees are to be fixed when they get a chance. Just drive through Tuapse and across some of the bridges there.

I wouldn't get cRazy with all that stuff. Turn off the gaming, xbox etc. Set pc to performance. Your pc (i9) will do it all without breaking a sweat and might save you .3 of a %. I still run a 4 core and record DCS @ 60 fps at 1440p while flying on the largest servers with max settings.

Yep, I was thinking it wouldn't be a good idea firing those large missile when slow IRL. They must have been testing in that vid? You think that they would have know it was a little dangerous to do.
-
Not that much I guess.

It's hard to tell if there is any real force in those video's. You can clearly see in this one there is no movement at all when firing rockets at speed from one side. I'm not saying there is no force here, it's just straight back against the round tube exiting the rear. Trying to force the nose down (pendulum) under the rotor blades. I just find it hard that these rockets could do that against a very large moving spinning disk above. The only thing I can think of is that these FCS systems could be needed with the larger S-13 or Vikhr missiles when Hovering or moving at very slow rate. Vikhr missiles especially as they are generally fired when slow or hovering Plus the angle they can go to.

Hi Almandro, It's a bit of a workaround to suit yourself setting up a single stick. I have a video on doing this and how I use the stick / keyboard. I guess you really need to do the same with so many controls to use. Take a look at the pictures of the real controls here Unless you want to just add many of your (Buttons at the stick base) as modifiers in DCS. Just like shift and Control keys are. (Right Shift + L) etc. You need to add them in the options If you add base stick buttons as modifiers or switches you can then use these to change what the top hat does. This base button held + Top hat = S1 (4 way hat left, right , Up, down) This base button held + Top hat = S2 (4 way hat left, right , Up, down) This base button held + Top hat = S2 (4 way hat left, right , Up, down) This base button held + Top hat = S6 (4 way hat left, right , Up, down) This base button held + Top hat = T5 (4 way hat left, right , Up, down) etc I guess I would use a mix of that and keyboard. (Arrow keys for TDC etc) Right shift + Arrow keys for? Right Control + Arrow keys for? This works OK for the A-10C. Quite a bit harder on these full fidelity (Fast) jets, they really need a good hotas. Even a decent cheap one like the thrustmaster t16000m fcs hotas would help.

Another 2080TI Bites The Dust.....
David OC replied to Tinkickef's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's a hard one alright, we also pay through the nose for power here. We have government rebates for home business solar panels and plenty of sun. At work we have 200 panel 6kW solar power system. Even Bill Gates was looking at a new type of NPP (Wave Reactor) https://terrapower.com/ http://www.german-times.com/bill-gates-is-wrong-nuclear-power-will-not-save-the-climate-beyond-chernobyl-and-fukushima-theres-too-much-speaking-against-it/ We are also 30 years or so off a fusion reactor. and yes we do have a nuclear physics here playing DCS, Fly MP with him from time to time lol. https://www.forbes.com/sites/arielcohen/2019/01/14/is-fusion-power-within-our-grasp/#3258d51c9bb4 -
I had a steep bowl (Slow center) and show this in my first video. Changed it now, speed up the middle a bit more by lifting the profile up in the center, then smooth it out with a curve back to flat. You like it fast and mostly the same speed by the looks of the profile, interesting. This is also good for long MP sessions (Easy on the neck and eye's to see 180), harder to get used to if new to Trackir.
-
All good Holton181, The way I see it that there would be a small recoil, like when you hover and fire rockets in the Ka-50, not tried the UH1H. The reason helicopters use speed for escape maneuvers and it would also negate this very small recoil / pendulum effect (When slow). It's interesting tho, like to here from an expert that has flow and fired rockets from a chopper. We may get the chance here. This is being very tested by the experts.
-
"causing the pitching of the helicopter." Just let me know if this is pitching the helicopter up or down as it comes out of the tube. Edit, just remember you said it's not a about yaw, so it's off the table right. Weigh is represented here with the letter G hehe. "In a very basic sense, the helicopter's main rotor does what wings and a propeller do for a fixed-wing aircraft." So how much force (Down or up) do you think it would take to roll this flying wing with recoil.
-
That's even worse for this discussion, now these rockets rotate the helicopter around the roll axis. Then you go on and talk about Newton's law and how weight doesn't have much relevance. How is this small / basically straight Down the longitudinal axis jet blast forcing the rotation of a helicopter against a very large flying disk? Now does the weight hanging off the bottom of this (OH58) 35 ft of blades help stabilize any force here.... How does a helicopter roll around it's axis. Seeing you are giving us a bit of a lecture on Newton's law. Where is this main force with a rocket in the picture above and how is this rolling the helicopter. Up or Down to turn left or right? Is it pushing down or up here? Helicopter rolling means there is either a up or down large force correct? The tube is round. You would have more of a chance sticking with yawing the helicopter I think.

First module and sh.. happens, hard lessons learned at this level ED / belsimtek set. Not sure who is coding this FM up? Hopefully if this does well for them and the FM's good, he can go back over the gazelle later and do some tweaking here and there.
-
I get what your saying about a hovering aircraft. This was a discussion about a large moving (Recommended speed) helicopter firing self propelled rockets. and the recoil this has on the craft. I still cannot see these light weight rockets having a recoil impact on yawing the helicopter. At this speed even the pedals are very or ineffective on yaw.
-
You can only do a dead zone looking directly forward at your set default view. I don't like the step tho, not a smooth transition through center. If you looking down to the side switches you just need to keep a steady head or have a Trackir pause key on the hotas or keyboard handy.
-
You think there would be enough pressure here to move (Recoil) 5+ tons of moving helicopter with a small rocket. I don't see it myself. 2.75 Ton OH-58 Right hand side rocket fire only 0:25
-
Just thinking out-loud here. Rockets are fired from pods (No Back on pods / pressure on craft) and drive themselves away, so very little recoil if any. Where a large gun would generate more pressure on the aircraft. Edit
