  1. I don't know how you guy's play DCS at under the 60 fps? Especially all the way down to 25. Wouldn't it be better to set the rez in DCS at 2560 x 1440P and up the frames to 60 for these TV screens..? Does it look crap..? It's also smoother for trackir, if using trackir and you could lock that 60 fps in (nvidia Inspector) and hold it everywhere with those cards.
  2. Your better off just getting the "main concept" of what the editor can do. Start simple and have a play with it, have a think about what you want to achieve in said mission. Most things are sort of simple. Aircraft and way-points (Player) Aircraft and way-points (AI) ground and air Waypoint options like hold at waypoint 3 (condition? Trigger = flag 5) On mission start do xxx Player hits trigger do xxxx, spawn or move AI convoy to here and attack xxx. Waypoint options like hold at waypoint 3 (Trigger = flag 3) My advice is to write out a small mission with certain things you want to learn how to...... How did I learn some of the editor logic? I went thru the A-10C campaign way back to see how the units were stop / starting at waypoints (Advance waypoint action), what score you needed, secret units that move when xxx was destroyed, popup text messages etc, etc, etc, etc. Your also going to need to learn Audacity or similar to add sound in ogg format with the editor. I may do a video on this at some point. For now practice adding some static radio to a practice mission Download this file. and add it to a mission. Have a play.....Need help ask. You can add sound globally or make the player switch to a radio station. The DCS User Manual EN.pdf is where you should start. Read the editor conditions and actions to get "some idea" about them all. C:Program FilesEagle DynamicsDCS World OpenBetaDoc Read from page 80 to 227 and you will see why no one has done videos. Then come up with a mission. Then ask here "WHEN" stuck and many will help you come up with a way to get XXXXXXXXXX or XXXXXXXXXX done. There is a whole section here--> Mission Editor Discussion and Questions My advice is to keep it simple for now and learn some basic knowledge about the editor tools. Then download some of the 1000s of mission others have made and dissect them. OH that's how he did XXX and XXX with XXX tool. I will also be doing a quick video at some point dissecting a mission that comes in DCS. It's all tools in a tool box that ED built for themselves to make missions. So THERE are literally thousands of ways to use these tools to get XXX or XXX done. What is it you what to get done? Stop a tank at waypoint 2? Move tank when flag = 46 or Tank X get destroyed. Start sound when player gets to waypoint 4? or in trigger zone 6? How to play the message to 137 radio channel in the A-10C or the Hornet? I could go on forever here........It just takes time to learn the combinations you need to get "Whatever it is done". Practice throwing some small missions together and using the editor tools. Learn the basics here first before even thinking about looking at Moose or ctld. That's even more tools and can be completely written in outside of the mission editor using notepad ++ or (Easier) the eclipse LDT editor. Then you run these scripts at mission start. My videos are just quick fun videos to get people to play around with some of the editor tools. Get an idea on "what you could create" just with those tools that are built in. Here's one of ED's out of the manual just to give you some idea. Let me know "HOW TO MAKE A VIDEO" explaining this one alone...... lol. Let's examine a sample scenario of 6 actions to better understand the execution sequencing based on the action type, list order, and priority setting:
  3. I'm still using the saitek combat rudder pedals. There ok I guess.... Brake pedal has played up, had them for a few years now tho. Still like the combat style of pedal (Feet on ground). So I'm leaning more towards the Thrustmaster TPR's and their all metal, pendular etc.
  4. Start with downloading Chuck's guide for the Harrier. On page 70 he shows you how you can change the Alignment (Options) under the special tab under the options menu. Unaligned, pre-aligned. I play online a bit these days, so just go with the pre-aligned. I.E you can bypass all the alignment. Not realistic, much quicker tho and the server allows it. Chuck also shows you how it's done for real. You never need to re purchase (or Buy the same module {code} again) I have uninstalled and reinstalled a module. Thinking it may have been corrupted. You can uninstall / reinstall from the module manager. Feel free to post in the forums no matter what the problem, we all started somewhere and there are many here willing to help. This module is made by RAZBAM RAZBAM are found here ED Forums » English » Licensed Third Party Projects » RAZBAM » AV-8B N/A Post in the AV-8B N/A area if you have any questions.
  5. How much nicer is the PC at this 4.7 clock now? Using the same setting in VR as before. 15 to 20% gain, that was my guess.... A lot less stuttering and pushing the 1070ti towards or at it's max now. Looks to me like a very nice combo now.
  6. If your not going the high end VR (index etc) route for now....? We have been discussing pc builds for DCS down in the PC Hardware and Related Software section One of the latest threads is best bang for $ DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build! For trackir head tracking software works better if you can lock DCS to 60 fps (frames per second) So you basically need a PC that can hold that all the time with high graphic settings. (That is if you want all the eye candy turned on lol...) So the best bang we think is a Ryzen 7 3700X with 5700XT ( New cards coming "5800/5900" this could drive prices down soon?) Blue team i7-9700k and the RTX 2070 super (Little More Expensive) This is also good for a 1440P monitor. No GPU card can hold a 4K screen at 60. 1440p 2K is the sweet spot at the moment. That system would also be good for light/med duty VR work in DCS also. You could lower the specs down and save a dollar if your only going 1080p (Old school...lol) Start a thread when your ready to build or buy and the guy's will help you. PC Hardware and Related Software section See some of my videos about Trackir
  7. I fly most of the DCS modules Its much easier to use the dcs modifier and assign one button. When this is held the buttons do similar things for each module. When not held the controls are setup as close to the real aircraft. So things like gear up, flaps up etc are all on modifiers in the same position for most modules.
  8. When I post 60 fps(Locked), I do mean hold this no matter what's going on..... I play on a server with 1000s of units, some player controlled, that's the real test to check any system. Good to know bit. Is that on your 1440P screen? Just going off this post to get some idea for DCS. GTX 1080 Ti vs. RTX 2070 Super vs. 5700 XT: 39 Game Benchmark These cards seem to be all fairly close then and can hold 60 fps @ 1440P generally. Same discussions going on in many threads lol. We need to consolidate and sticky a thread.
  9. I think the Thrustmaster 16000m fcs hotas would possibly be the cheapest / best at the moment? Just don't like the single hat, so I ended up getting CH at the start and now have a VKB / CH throttle. Might grab the Virpil throttle soon.
  10. Even tho you have 4.7 GHz your still held to ransom by the overall throughput for the latest GPU's. DDR3 etc. Screen Rez 1080P, 1440P, 4K..? I would recommend 2070 super for 60 fps @ 1440P with max settings. If that's what your looking for? You need to hold 60 for track ir to be smooth if your going to get one...? Perhaps 60 fps @ 1080P / 1440P? on the RX 5700XT with max settings MSAA x2, SSAA OFF (Check with others tho) Cheaper option.... Your system will limit the 2070 super possibly...? Hopefully it can push it past the 60 fps and hold that max settings MSAA x2, SSAA OFF. Then look at up grading the rest down the road... See this thread here DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build! This was my upgrade path. I5, 760, 1070, I7 7700K, 1080ti
  11. I just posted about this in the DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build! You might be able to hold 60 fps @ 1080P on the RX 5700XT (Check with others tho) You need the RTX 2070 Super or better to hold 60 fps @ 1440P with max settings. See that thread and the gaming comparisons at the bottom between RX 5700XT and RTX 2070
  12. If I was to build a new system right now that's what I would build and would pretty much match my system I have now I think. Plus it would be ready for any Vulkan improvements with it's 8 Cores. Ryzen 7 3700X + RTX2070 (Super) or 5700 XT: 39 Game Benchmark 32 GB Ram (3200 Mhz) Suit AMD This is of course going off best bang for the buck and what DCS / Track IR can deliver at the moment.... You need to hold (Locked) 60 or 120 FPS for Track ir using nvidia Inspector or an autoexec.cfg DCS option file. No system can hold 120. My system now can hold max setting MSAA x2, SSAA OFF and that's also at 1440P on a very large server so I'm still very happy with it. 1440 is still the sweet spot here. That new system would also suit the mid range VR headsets like the Rift S. I still run the Rift CV1 and PD of 1.5 and lower a few setting down like the view distance. Would need to lower more if I used it online. I don't as I only use it for half hour at a time, case 1's etc. Get's annoying after a bit for me. If you have the cash to throw around for large 4K screens and or the Valve index with it's specs and want the best experience now for DCS. Then yes 9900K and 2080ti makes more sense. That's more than double the cost, including that VR headset. Valve Index Two RGB LCDs running at 1,440 x 1,600 pixels, capable of a 120Hz (or 144Hz) Samsung Odyessy + Dual 3.5" AMOLED (1440x1600 ea) The Rift S has a slightly higher-resolution screen than the original Rift, at 1280 x 1440 pixels per eye instead of 1200 x 1080. Rift S only refreshes at a rate of 80Hz. I still use a 4 core system and can still hold 60 fps @ 1440P for recording. The CPU is only running at 4.8 GHz at the moment as that can still hold the 60 fps. Example GTX 1080 Ti vs. RTX 2070 Super vs. 5700 XT: 39 Game Benchmark
  13. Here are some older articles that are an interesting read about it. "What this means practically for developers, is that on device with more cores you’ll simply be able to manage your threads better, and allowing rendering strategies that weren’t previously possible. As I alluded to last time, this will lead to better efficiency and better performance of applications that otherwise find themselves maxing out a single core!" CPU bottlenecks GPU waiting on the CPU
  14. It's why we need to hit the GPU from all directions at the same time. 15. If you only clicked full screen then it's on the default Rez. 1280 x 768 Set the in sim rez to your windows default. See the second video I did here on options. (7:00 min mark) I show how to set rez and log back in to DCS. Notes: lol Add a shortcut to the save games folder C:\Users\(YOUR USER NAME)\Saved Games\DCS (Beta / stable etc) Many here delete the contents of the FXO and metashaders2 folders (after each update), this rebuilds the DCS shader files. Can help sometimes if you see low FPS in sim. You will also find a folder called config C:\Users\(YOUR USER NAME)\Saved Games\DCS\Config In this folder is a file called (options.lua) Delete this file to reset all the game options (Not Joystick) DCS will build a new one. You will also find you controller profiles "per aircraft" (Good to backup from time to time just in case) C:\Users\(YOUR USER NAME)\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input You are going the VR route I believe, so you may be interested at some point. Switching between VR an non VR Mode
  16. You can also copy the standard launch link. (Rename NO VR) Add to the end of the copied link (Right Click Properties) "...\DCS\bin\dcs.exe" --force_disable_VR Using the DCS.exe stops dcs checking for updates. Unlike DCS_updater.exe launcher found in the same folder. I also use Skatezilla's app when installing modules etc. Very handy app to use. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053
  17. It will help in many areas. The big ones are separate simulation engine / graphic engine and AI logic and or pathing etc. Just that alone could allow many more AI units / smarter AI units with it's own cpu core for a large dynamic campaign @60 fps+. Any half decent 4+GHZ cpu should be good, you will still need a good GPU for eye candy.
  18. Read this review from an engineer's take on all of them. It's written by a guy that's on this forum. http://jaytheskepticalengineer.com/fathering-and-hobbies/flight-simming/flight-sim-gear-reviews/vkb-gunfighter-mcg-pro-mk-ii/ I went with the VKB Gunfighter Pro. 200mm extension (Now Pro-L for long) and Monstertech longer version. I wanted a good balance for jets and choppers and with Adjustable dampers. The VKB with the cam I'm using has absolutely zero center detent and is only held center by springs only (dual spring). So it's not "Perfectly center" all the time etc. It really makes you "fly" the aircraft with zero breakout force. Not so realistic for say the Hornet etc. Read that review, it should help you decide.
  19. Still running a few 150,000+ dollar machines on XP lol. Still going strong and are networked with 7 and 10 machines from the office. Would like to upgrade them sure, problem is the machines would need replacing also, as the software they run is for XP / Win 7 only. Local and offsite cloud backup.
  20. I would say yes at that stock clock speed. Somewhere around 15% at a guess. Need to test it tho. I would overclock water cool / AIO that chip, then at a guess it would be negligible, perhaps 5% with that GPU. I would do a few test and learn a bit about overclocking.
  21. If that is the case? Then perhaps going back and study up on how the Hornet / NAVY lands their aircraft on Carriers is needed. Check out this thread I put together about it all. Or at least watch .
  22. I've been meaning to do a video on this....You can change and save all the different views. Just like setting a new default view from within the sim. No editing files etc. Rudel_chw wrote a very good explanation on how to do this. The video in this post does show an example of how to move yourself around at the 15 minute mark, then use Rudel_chw post below for more info https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4113647#post4113647
  23. Not sure what your asking here? Especially about the VV ? IS your flight path marker on the horizontal ICLS line? Are you staying on speed? Does it look anything like this old video I did using ICLS in VR? Exactly:thumbup: You can use ICLS to help enter the groove at the correct height, once there its all ball.
  24. Download Chucks guide too if you haven't already päb0594 It's also getting a redo very soon.
