  1. I just got the email notification and we're already on page 4! Polychop, this is a day one purchase with me. I'm a dedicated Hornet sim pilot but I fly the Huey any chance I get. I'd gladly switch to the Kiowa! (Maybe fly both!). I have the Gazelle but can't fly it to save my life. Doesn't matter. I bought it anyway. When the Kiowa hits, I'll buy that, too! GO POLYCHOP!!!!
  2. Just flew with 4 GBU 31s in PP, all 4 stations selected, Lats and Lons keyed in for all four (the same). I flew several times and only got 2 to drop, right side hung. I re-attacked and the right side refused to drop or punch the admiral's doorbell. This last time, for some reason, THREE dropped (one from the right side.) Re-attacking, the last one refused to pickle or jett. Track attached. Cruiser Jdams.trk
  3. @swimbody, and @Home Fries. I was (I think it was) VP-30 out of Pax River for training and a year with AIMD in NAS Keflavik working with a VP of P-3 Charlies there. (back when god was a kid and I had a real working memory in my head.) I eventually hooked up with VF-74 at NAS Oceana training for both brown shirt and red shirt (a month of carrier quals on CVA-59 a couple years after her famous fire). I was watching some of the YouTube vids about today's carrier ops and was astounded by the many had signals they added. Things change in 35 years, eh? :book:
  4. Oh. I thought you meant me.:music_whistling: Nevermind.
  5. DCS World has a quick "difficult" mission for the Huey. I flew it and recorded the cockpit. Sure was a challenge but great fun!
  6. Thanks for the discussion. I hope things will change to more realism in the near future. Until then, I'm happy to sit in the seat of a flying Hornet! :)
  7. How is it that the Kuznetsov can take direct hits from 4 Harms then when the attacking aircraft recommitted, the Kuznetsov again began firing the SA-15's as if nothing hit the radar? The SA-15's are semi-active, right?
  8. LOL! I can't legally answer why I have the update disabled. You can read between the lines. :smilewink: The point now becomes just a big hug to c0ff for the link to what my problem's solution is. My buddy also suggested that it has to do with the VoiceChat feature being now added. All's good, eh?
  9. Yup. Worked for me, too. But, the link that c0FF gave only linked to the x86 version. I needed the x64. Had to google to get that. But, it works. Thanks, c0ff!
  10. To be sure, this is a Windows 7 error, not DCS? KB2533623 is a fix for my "broken" Windows 7? Why did DCS work before this update? What am I missing?
  11. No antivirus running on my gaming machine. As far as I know, there are no mods to my DCS (on F-drive) I removed my saved games open beta folder (moved it to my desktop on C-drive). Ran repair which ran as it should. Ran my short-cut to DCS_updater which did NOT create a new saved games folder. The updater gave me the Kernel32.dll error. Ran the updater from F:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin directly. Still same problem. (Did not add the flag "update") Since no Saved Games folder for open beta, there was no log generated for DCS. Looked for the date stamp on F:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\autoupdate_log. The update log didn't get updated from earlier this morning (05:37 GMT). Ran F:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe directly for the second time (without the flag "update"). Same dll problem. Ran that again from the windows launch window ("F:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" update) which checks for available updates and tells me the installed version 2.5.5.40269 is up to date. (DCS Updater 2.9.12.8) I don't know how to roll back to an earlier DCS to force a hard update. Edit: just ran repair again. Got the autoupdate log. Attached herein. autoupdate_log.txt
  12. Yup. Same problem. "... entry point AddDllDirectory could not be located in the .... KERNEL32.dll." Need a hot fix for this. edit: tried a repair didn't work, either. Edit: update log included. dcs.log cannot be attached here so I copied it to a txt file. autoupdate_log.txt New Text Document.txt
  13. Hi, MegOhm. Long time no see. Yeah, I am chompin' at the bit to get a carrier that more closely aligns with Natops. I was a Red Shirt on a carrier and miss the insane action.
  14. I've been flying DCS/Lomac since god was a kid. I currently fly the Hornet in EA. I can't get LGBs to run with the TGP. So, I drop MK-82 in CCIP. I fly the Hornet, guys. I fly it. I bolter a lot because I'm clumsy. But I fly the Hornet. We'll get there when we get there, okay? Let them know if your landing gear fails to come up. But be happy you can fly whatever you fly.
  15. In all the years that I've flown DCS, from LoMac to today's OB, I've found that radar has always been poorly simulated. I suspect that it's the nature of the beast, radar being such a secretive/classified thing. For now, work with what you've got. Buy all AWACS crews a full round of Budweiser anytime you meet them.

    BRU-41/A ITER

I realize that I am quite dated considering that I worked ordnance on the F-4J. And I have worked with MERs as well as TERs of that time. Can you give me a link to just exactly what an ITER is?
  17. I froze the vid at 0:13. My jaw dropped and I could not believe my eyes.
  18. Shirt color on the flight deck Yellow shirts are worn by aircraft handlers and aircraft directors that shuttle aircraft around the carrier’s tight and chaotic deck. Catapult Officers and Arresting Gear Officers also wear yellow shirts. Because yellow shirts are so involved with taxiing aircraft, they are often featured prominently in dramatic photos depicting carrier deck operations. Green shirts are worn by some of the hardest-working sailors on the deck, including ones who run and maintain the ship’s catapults and arresting gear. Hook Runners who make sure the ship’s cross-deck pendants (wires) make it back into position to trap another aircraft by coercing them with a five-foot steel bar wear green shirts. This is one of the most dangerous positions on the flight deck as the wires can snap across the deck at high speed, slicing through whatever or whoever they come in contact with. Air wing maintenance personnel, those who work on the aircraft directly, also wear green shirts, as do cargo handling personnel, ground support equipment troubleshooters, enlisted helicopter landing signal personnel and photographer’s mates. Blue shirts are plane handlers that work under the direction of the yellow shirt wearing aircraft handlers, assist in moving aircraft around the deck. They also can operate the carrier’s massive aircraft elevators, drive tractors and work as messengers and verbal liaisons. Purple shirts, better known as “Grapes,” are all about aviation fuels. They fuel and de-fuel the carrier’s aircraft, often on very tight schedules. Obviously, pumping fuel at high-pressure into jets loaded with explosives and full of hot electronics and mechanical devices is not exactly a low-risk proposition. One spark, caused by grounding issue or one of many other possibilities, could cause a real disaster. Red shirts. :) The red color is no mistake as the crewmen that wear this color are usually near very hazardous things or situations. Ordnancemen deal with building, moving and mounting weapons and arming the air wing’s aircraft. They use their own hardened elevators to move live bombs and missiles up to the deck before loading them on the aircraft, which can including literally lining up and heaving a 500 pound missile over their shoulders to get it attached to the aircraft’s weapons station. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) crews also wear red shirts along with crash and salvage crews. Crash teams have their own mini tug-sized fire fighting vehicles and are ready at a moment’s notice to respond to mishap on the deck. Brown shirts are worn most notably by Plane Captains. Loosely equivalent to a Crew Chief in the Air Force, Plane Captains are responsible for overseeing the maintenance, launch and recovery and general well-being of their aircraft as well as the others in their squadron. The old adage is the plane captain is the one who truly “owns the jet,” and the pilot just borrows it for a couple hours at a time. White shirts are worn by a fairly wide mix of deck crew. These include many quality and safety observers such as air wing quality control personnel, individual squadron plane inspectors, and safety observers. Yet probably most well-known white shirt wearers are Landing Signal Officers (LSOs) who help talk down approaching aircraft while also making sure the deck is clear for their arrival. The LSOs are sourced from each squadron in the air wing and are usually pilots with historically high landing scores themselves. White shirts are also worn by Air Transfer Officers who are responsible for the handling and conveyance of all mail, cargo and passengers arriving via C-2 Greyhound Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft and helicopters. When VIPs or media are being escorted on the deck they also wear white. Crews who provide liquid oxygen to aircraft and medical personnel are also assigned white tops.
  19. That's exactly what I was hoping for. I was with VF-74 on the Forrestal and would love to be back on the flight deck again.
  20. Lol, yeah, everyone was looking for it under Missiles. But, it's a bomb; has no go juice. Oh, and be very very careful when you lock onto a target. The closer it gets, the more difficulty it has at changing it's trajectory away from where it's actually falling to. Your inputs via the pod are only suggestions to it.
  21. I am happy with the Hornet. There is nothing on this planet like what DCS has. My one focus is: carrier ops. (I'm ex-U.S. Navy) I'm happy with the Viper. It's a work in progress and we're getting exposed to it early. I'm fine with that. I bought the Tomcat because it is DCS. I've flown it a couple times (front seat) but dislike the plane as a plane (not a DCS thing, but a Grumman thing.) I've bought most other modules, as well. The Russian gems are in my hangar but collecting dust. But, to reward Eagle Dynamics, I bought them anyway. The only thing in Russian I know is spacibo (let me look that up... благодарю вас.) Sure, people will complain. I complain about EA bugs simply because the developers need to know what's happening in the wild. That's what EA is all about. I'm happy with that. How Eagle Dynamics creates their magic is not my interest. I'm just happy they give me some incredibly awesome modules and several worlds to play in.
  22. No, they are updating (changing) features of the currently scheduled weekly occurrences of the weekday called Friday. In stead of having Friday mornings before noon, they are moving Friday mornings to later in that day's evening and the Friday evenings scheduled at that time moved to early Friday mornings. Of course, this is only in the Open Beta and subject to any changes due to unforeseen technical issues that may arise.
  23. Not sure what the problem is, but landing the Viper appears to have the same problem as the P-51D had when it was first released. Takeoffs were, as with reality, difficult because of the Merlin's huge amount of torque. But landing should have been much easier. In the first few weeks, the poor P-51 would do its best to kill you if it ever touched planet earth after flying. Later, it got fixed and landing is now much more realistic. I am ASSUMING.... ahem.... that the same goes for the Viper. Yes, you CAN land without incident, but just one little thing that just ain't quite right and the Viper commits suicide, taking you with it. :joystick:
  24. Roll rate seems a bit short of the 270. Perhaps there's a limiter on? Well, I cleaned up the wings (pylons off) dropped fuel down to 700 lbs and flew 100 feet above Batumi runway at 200 kts, then pulled lightly into a 90 degree climb. I expected to accelerate briskly because of the T over W. But I got very, very slow acceleration (about 1 knot for a couple thousand feet then it began losing speed.) I don't think that's realistic. I'm not complaining. This is the first few hours of EA, after all. But hopefully, that issue will be addressed soon?
