  1. Chose Taiwan since South China Sea was not specific enough. If the South China Sea focuses on Vietnam; then by all means Vietnam. These are 2 maps that could literally be split by a common match line. Perhaps technology catches up and we can have a super map with both theaters.
  2. I found this same thing in the Georgia Map about a year ago in Northern Turkey. Technically it was off the map but I noticed blocks of trees and building clusters like this one. Its gone now, or I cant find it anymore. Always wondered if there was a way to get whole blocks like this as a Static object. Then I can build cities on the West side of the Black sea.
  3. Today my system updated from DCS open Beta 2.5 to 2.5.6.6x. Suddently I am having Zoom issues in the Cockpit of the A10C, A10C II, F15. The view "Resets" to a closeup of the HUD. Zooming out wont work since it snaps back to the zoomed in view after a few seconds. This will not happen in the F18 I believe cockpit zoom settings for that plane are different keybindings. My attempt to fix this will be to remove all keyboard zoom commands. Anyone else with this problem?
  4. I am all for this and willing to pay for it as well. Those who complain, do you own every module now and if not is that stopping you from enjoying DCS? How much would DCS cost if one were to buy everything? I for one would pay for a T72 Module or even an Abrams. I have a friend, former Armor Vet, who would probably purchase this if that became a reality. The only video games he plays is Risk. With recent announcements regarding Dynamic campaigns, Electronic warfare, ELINT, integrated air defense systems, I can see Combined arms becoming a Jewel. With 3rd party participation a lot of this gets created now instead of years from now. If a good product is produced then I am willing to pay for it. If your telling me DCS can look like Call of Duty from the soldiers stand point to a Tac view much like HARPOON including Naval assets, then you have my support. Also... does this mean we could theoretically have Maps inside maps? So I fly over Palmyra Syria, some of those building have interiors, back alleyways, tunnels etc? I think Call of duty meets DCS; this would be some fun game-play supporting friends on the ground. Just leave out the COD superpowers the wonder weapons etc. I don't want to fly low over a group of buildings to be shot down by the the level 15 guy who jumps over the A10 and throws a Gold Axe at my plane.
  5. When Flying the A10 I get Missile launch warnings all the time when friendlies fire mavericks or even when enemy artillery fire Rockets. Usually fire off Countermeasures just in case unless its visually obvious whats shooting and where. Can be unnerving when trying to clear SAM sites and too much is going on. Situational awareness is key. Knowing whats in the air and on the ground and the capabilities is what will keep you alive. That's what makes Instant Action missions so hard.
  6. At first I was like "Is this DCS, did they upgrade explosions?" Then I realized it was real footage. Gaming has come a long way. Saw the interview about the Falklands and that landscape is going to be incredible.
  7. I did this on the Nevada map. I flew all the way to San Francisco/ Bay area, with the F15. You could see it on the F10 Map. The Images changed the further west you went. Sacramento area still appeared to have Ariel photography mapped but then the terrain imagery changed to a muddy out of focused desert. Of course their was no terrain. That seemed to cut off at Lake Tahoe. I have no Idea how to place objects on the map in these "Off map zones" Doubt that these areas will ever get modeled. Imagine the HDD space that would take up and the time it takes away from other projects. I do remember an interview (Reapers) where someone from Eagle Dynamics Mentioned a DCS World map. Not sure what that is but with new technologies like what they did with Microsoft Flight simulator maybe we will get bigger regions or connected regions.
  8. Also would be willing to pay for the upgrade as well.
  9. I would fly the A10A a lot more with a clickable cockpit. Already own it since I flew it since the Loc-on Days In the mission editor is there an 80s era time-frame to limit weapons and Liveries to the time period?
  10. I find them great as a backup for other unguided weapons and a great way to clear Antiaircraft guns before strafing targets. 7 Guided shots on one pylon.
  11. I think the Cartridges are Gen X expendables "Decoys" that send out signals to a radar or missile that the aircraft is "Here" The other Gen X decoy is a towed jammer that does the same. I believe these countermeasures are deployed from canisters that take a spot on a weapons rack. More protection but loose some room for bombs and missiles.
  12. Wow... What a great addition. The models look great.
  13. Sorry Its a 250 GB drive. So yeas everything I own could fit on a 500 GB. My question is about future maps. Syria was pretty big, will upcoming maps be as large? And yes using half an SSD increases longevity.
  14. My DCS drive, a Samsung 860 SSD at 500 GB, is nearing capacity. After I purchased the Syria map I have had to unload other modules to fit everything. So.... Time for an upgrade. Currently I have all of the Maps except the Channel. I have 2 war-birds, all A10s, Flaming cliffs MiG 21, F 18, F16, SU 33. and others. So the drive is full and I can even load everything I own. I plan on purchasing all of the currently planned maps, Marianas, South Atlantic, Afghanistan... or was Iraq next? Maps take up the most space; I will need to get the Harrier with South Atlantic so there is that. What would be the suggested size of Hard Drive I will need for all of these modules? Say someone purchased every module and map available right now, how big of a Drive would be needed to run DCS? Any Idea what that number grows to in the next two years? FYI 1 TB SSDs have dropped in price, for $100 USD more you can get 2 TB drives, all are the Samsung 860s. Whats practical and whats total overkill.
  15. Whaa?? On 2 monitors the map goes to the California coast?!! San Francisco the whole bay area down to Monterey, north to Ft Bragg? How far south west does this go? I assume since Lake Havasu is the very southernmost town then the southern most city in California would be Malibu... North Los Angeles? HMMM Time to fly off the map to the west and see what I can see... Likely nothing much like flying to Moldova or Istanbul in the Caucasus.
  16. I thought I read many years ago they had Man-pads. Not sure what kind but there was concern that they could have Stinger missiles. I know they had a lot of US stuff that was supposed to be in the Iraq army. Do the insurgents have the Humvee or other US equipment in the mission editor? I know they had the Toyota Hilux, with the AAA package. Thats a Mod someone really needs to make to complete this map. https://abcnews.go.com/International/us-officials-isis-toyota-trucks/story?id=34266539
  17. Is there a way in the Mission editor to to place, control, interact with Oil tankers and such in the mission editor? Would like to create Escort missions and a possible campaign in the Persian Gulf map. I know there are some old Russian vessels available for that coalition but I am looking for something like a Japanese flagged Super tanker that the fleet has to keep Red forces from Damaging or approaching. Seems like there are a lot of objects, buildings, vehicles, and such that you cannot place or use in the mission editor. I also like the modern looking cars in the Syria Map, any way we can use those in the Mission editor?
  18. So is there anywhere we can go to see the TERMS of use for the new Oculus Quest before buying? I am under the impression that if I use the headset tethered to the computer and use it for DCS I wont need to log in to a Facebook account. If I do need to "Log in" what do they have access to? Will it announce on Facebook that I am in DCS flying planes, come Join him posts. (I think of the endless requests for me to join Candy Crush Games from friends - Sorry aunt Deb) Privacy is a concern. I have already read that the cameras on the headsets can be hacked and people can see inside your house much like the camera on a laptop or security systems. I know that the price point on the new Oculus is so low that your selling something in exchange. Its the "what am i selling" concern before I order something and have to open the box. To be fair "what are we selling" when buying a Vive, Reverb 2 or Pimax. Are any of those tied to an "Account" Just a few questions here, I am about to buy my first headset ever and the homework never seems to be done. By the way Do i need the Steam version of DCS to play in VR? I notice lots of headsets work with Steam. Thanks
  19. Good information here. Thanks everyone. I think I will wait on a Pimax. Perhaps they will in later versions get rid of the use of the Lighthouse modules or augment them with the onboard tracking cameras. The FOV is what I am attracted to. For now I may go with the Oculus Quest 2. At the price point I can then afford to invest in a 3080 10 gb or 20 gb or look at the 3090. Currently have the RTX 2070 with an i9 64Gigs Ram. I may have to upgrade the Video card for this move. This is also my first set of VR goggles.
  20. Looking at jumping into VR for DCS. Experienced VR at a few Museums in Europe and one VR Arcade here in Riga. Rift S mostly Been looking at the Pimax however it appears that for tracking you will need the lighthouse setup. I also read for driving sims and flight simulators that you don't need lighthouse. So which is it? My budget allows for either the top end 8K head set or the 5K version with accessories. I wont be dancing around the room slicing fruit right away. Just at my Desk with DCS for now. Want to get the best bang for the buck up front for the SIM. All opinions welcome.
  21. Thanks, I will look for the update.
  22. I have been getting back into creating my own missions in the Mission editor. Its been awhile and I have found new assets such as FRAP Helo base. Was wondering if there are plans for allowing the creation of airstrips or a series of objects that could be used to create an entire airbase on any given map. Interested at creating a modern airfield or two in the Normandy map, for modern air operations in the area. I think there are one or 2 RAF bases in operation today on that map but are not modeled.
  23. With all the AC that's planned Vietnam has to be up there. Would also like to see a Central Europe cold war map. I second the Fulda GAP (just get me an A10a with a Clickable cockpit please) Balctic sea map: with Kalingrad, Northern Poland Belarus Russia to St Petersburg encompassing the 3 Baltic states and a bit of Sweden and Finland. I live in Riga so kind of biased. North cape? Korea? Taiwan? Maybe a N Africa with Tunis/ Northern Lybia and Sicily 1000x 1000 would cover it and you could do WWII Battles and the 1986 Regan Raid on Tripoli. My 2 cents
  24. I have this Campaign and cannot get the second mission to start correctly. Runway is blocked by emergency vehicles and the C130 diverts. I believe that you are on hold for the C130 then you may begin; however the plane never lands. Can we get this fixed? Thanks
  25. I was wondering how to insert the Aerial Gates in the mission editor, These gates are the floating squares you fly through in the F86 Sabre Approach and Landing tutorial. Want to try and create a couple of very simple missions for my non simulator friends but mostly the Girlfriend. :joystick: Thanks for the help in advance.
