  1. From 6 series you need to go only to 8 ... New AMD lines are almost here to be launched. Keep an eye on those as they are on par or even better then current Intel's.
  2. 8700K is a good CPU and its thermal regim is lower than its predecesor. As the box contained only the CPU I just reused my good old 2xFan Noctchua from the my previous 4770 which managed to keep it under 80C while in full load. Is not the king size cooler but the medium one. In Idle it goes down around 32-35C. A watercooler is planned, not because the temperature but to be able to add two more DRAM. Currently, one fan is a bit over first memory slot. 5GHz is not overkill for 8700k because its stock turbo is 4.8GHz.
  3. In game VSYNC just denies the hardware G-Sync. So it is not corect Goa's explanation. It is G-Sync or V-Sync ... cannot have both in the same time.
  4. I just upgraded from i7 4770 to i7 8700K and overclock to 5GHz. It is not only about the CPU but also about MB and DRAM4 too. My 1080GTX was used in both configurations. I felt a considerably boost in performance from bearable VR to playable VR. My experience shows that it worth for sure. I am sure that in your case the boost will be even more considerable. Currently I have steady 45 FPS in DCS at PD 1.7.

But coming back to mining itself and its benefits, it becomes even more ridiculous when we are facing the current energy consumption burned for... well... nothing. https://futurism.com/mining-bitcoin-costs-more-energy-159-countries-consume-year/ With such information available... how can we even think at profitability? If this continues there will be cascade effects starting from increasing energy price. And energy is the base of our current world. We don't even need to think twice about this fact.
  6. I 've tried Oculus on its DK2 iteration and I was very disappointed at that time with the quality and the fact that it was producing me such a bad sick that I couldn't wear it more than 2 minutes. 3 month ago I have decided to take the leap and buy my own headset, having in mind that the price dropped considerably. My first contact was pretty similar as with DK2... I was such disrupted that I had to go to lay down after only few minutes of playing anything from DCS, Assetto Corsa or many others. After few fails I have decided to go try Elite Dangerous. This was my turn point in the VR saga... That game is so well optimized for VR, from menus to general performance, so that I was able to spend almost an hour playing it. An I played exclusively Elite Dangerous for 1.5 month. My brain become trained in VR thanks to this game and I was able to play it continuously even for few hours. Then I went back and try again Assetto Corsa... this time I was able to play a full 5 laps race. And the time for DCS has come back again... but this time failed again... Last days I have upgraded my PC from an i7 4770@4.4GHz to an i7 8700k@5GHz. And give the DCS a new try ... and bang... yes, finally I am able to play it consistently in VR. Now I am really happy. So that, it is clear that the brain could be trained for VR . However, while flying in aerobatics servers in DCS is literally next level of perception, I still find kind of impossible to play real missions were visual spotting is required. I am playing with default DCS VR setting and changed only the pixel size to 1.7... kind of maximum that I can support with no issues. Starting with 1.8 I feel very small stuttering, but they are enough to create me a disconfort. So VR guys, do you really play missions in VR? Any trick to improve spotting ? (besides the DCS enlarge feature)?
  7. I saw the same effect in Arma3. Could be a kind of limitation from DX11, transparency.. etc. But It would be great to get rid of this, hence I don't see it as a big deal for now.
  8. As the title said, any news or insights about the dedicated server could be very useful to know about. Please ED, this topic was forgotten lately. PS: 2.5 is marvelous ... it will make me come back to DCS wit more dedication.

All pools have a threshold where the amount is sent to your wallet. From the wallet you can move them forward or do whatever you want. A lower value on this threshold could make insignificant any stealing attempt. The pool I was working with used to have a small fee for transaction under 0.05 ETH and free for anything above. A matter of taste, of course... The pool allow you to easily asses the real value of what you are doing by comparison with others.

This why is better to consider mining in a pool even you will have to pay a very small amount as a tax. Don't remember the value but small enough to make it worth. Also the internet bandwidth would be insignificant for you.

@Pedro: I have my eyes large opened already! Those who currently have money are also affording and owning big mining farms. Their computing exceeds normal people computing power by too far. Big corporates are those I am referring here, with their datacenters. So by design, those who have the biggest computing power can actually own most of transaction and control the value by increasing or decreasing the amount of processed transactions. Quite trivial method, isn't it? No transactions processed, no value for that currency. IBM have already developed next generation of computing machines which are for now dedicated to military/national projects only. Their computing power beats anything it exists but the transition could not be waterfall, instead it needs to be adapted gradually to not disrupt the economy. Same as with electric cars which were ready for the masses by GM since '70s but because of economic interests of oil companies were delayed up to now. But now automotive industry is big enough and they are working anyway with energy companies to switch to new technology making the market shares to move forward. IBM also announced their interest in crypto and the intention to create their own currency... Will that be the new dollar? Most possible yes! Where is the decentralization? :) Not really ! BTW: I know about an wind/sun power company (in EU) who owns their own mining farms and burn their exceeding power into that. Beat that one :D! These are only my thoughts, and I thought sharing them with you might result in a fair debate. Isn't it @Pedro?

    MINING

A very elaborate one... maybe. I worked with myself to think outside of the box and tried to understand the background. But I always got to a dead end... digital money cannot be covered by goods or actives. So there is no real value. But what is true is that some people managed to get out of the big scheme with some real money... and I am talking here about ordinary people. On the other hand, those who are in mining can see some big farms that are doing really big amount of coins. And I mean is crazy amount of coins. If big boys like IBM or any other big datacenters get into mining then we cannot speak anymore about decentralized systems. These "boys" can mine and even get control of most of the digital transactions... and here we are back into the top of pyramid. Too many uncertain/unexplained things within cryptocurrencies which are well and smart hidden behind some irelevant technical details. At one point I thought that mining itself is used actually for big processing information for earth-quakes forecasts, whether forecast or even stellar calculation. But no... there is nothing like this... and indeed Ponzi schemes looks now for me as the most appropriate explanation.

While this is true, the following applies: When I was starting, my RIG was reporting like 1.2 ETH / month. When I finished, the mining speed already decreased to 0.9 ETH/month. This behaviour is a fact and applies to all crypto currencies due to their constant block size increase. And I still have my basic question: how valid are these currencies? What is their usage for, despite so called "untraceable" transactions or free of charge transactions taxes. We already know that nothing is untraceable. Also free of charge taxes... well this is debatable... but for sure taxes started to be applied during exchanges. So, what are these currencies used for actually?

I was in and managed to gather 1 ETHereum with a rig with 6 x RX580 in one month. At that time the rig consumption measured on wall was 1450W/hour. My electric bill was around 250 euros. After that month I have concluded that the mining speed was too slow, the electric bill too high and the general home confort was heavily disturbed by noise and heat. So that I sold the rig. I think that investing in Market on new entry might be a hotspot ... there is a great risk factor as well, but as long as you are working with multiple crypto and multiple trading markets you can minimise that risk.
  15. The music in this film proved to be the worst Hans Zimmer creation. This contributes to general bad feeling about this movie. I am not reffering at all to planes.. I am rating the movie overall.
  16. Hello gents, If anyone have an bricked/damaged warthog throttle and want to throw it away, please let me know as I am interested to build my own custom throttle. I found this type is very generous with interior spaces and can be quite easily readapted. I am from Romania so anything within UE will be easier to be shipped. Of course I will cover any expanses by Paypal or other methods. Have a great 2018 !
  17. I have the Virpil. It works perfect and its precision is well above Warthog. VPC have the big advantage to be 100% compatible with Warthog grip, which I intend to use. On the other hands VKB grip MCG Pro looks for me as the perfect grip. I wouldn't want more than is able to offer including the ministick on it. Precision wise VKB and VPC are pretty similar.
  18. 2.5 will be the stable version with hopefully improved performance and stability. Everything will be in one place and community will be reunited. All others will be pretty much the same.
  19. Just don't mess with the greatest fighter jockeys guys... you will be literally smashed :)) ED ... please go forward and experiment the civil plane adoption...
  20. Romania have a great acrobatic Yak52 team clling themselves "Iacarii acrobati"
  21. For now, DCS members are mainly warriors... everything is solved in duel :)) ... fighting with everything they get. Let DCS evolve to other areas then these "No No" answers will be so much diluted...
  22. ED need to change the name to DCFS world - Digital Combat and Flight Simulator :)... really ... so that no other grammar analysis could be further made
  23. Having in mind that DCS next gen is quite close to be released I think is time that ED needs to look for further improvements. One idea could be to change a bit the way for buttons configuration in a way I saw in other titles and is working flawless. Where it is applicable can attach an sub-option under the function stating the position is TOGGLE or HOLD. For example: Master Arm [HOLD] - a push button can be used to activate/deactivate [TOGGLE] - a lever button with one position could be used to keep the function activated. We are used to do this kind of workarounds in config files, but we need to preserve them before updates so that tedious work need to be repeated every time. I think the solution proposed above is pretty simple and straight forward. It just needs some more time to consume. I am pretty sure the community can help if needed. Maybe not right to mention but for more clarity I am reffering to Elite Dangerous approach and I think X-Plane have something similar too. It does not matter who, all it counts is an extremely usefull solution.
  24. +1 M3. Christen Eagle is not an unknown plane. Being in the same league with Pitts Special makes it a hell of a nimble plane. Any plane into DCS World is welcomed as long as they will preserve the flight model accuracy we are already used to.
