hi, i would like to ask about ping limit, are you thinking about it, or do you let go server without any setting? am asking, because players with ping around 500 are less acceptable than AI planes, for me...
-
I hope that Spitfire will be finished in incoming patch, means CW model, external fuel tanks and bombs. I do not expect any improvements in Normandy, but would be nice to be surprise with something new :)
-
then, why don't you guys join us, those who remain to play online DCS WWII? what are you waiting for? and yes, it is good to have another WWII server, i just wrote my opinion about one detail...

With AI planes, am sorry, but i do not think so. Tried it, looked good until i saw AI, then i disconected.

clipped wings effect flight model?
saburo_cz replied to DracoLlasa's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
No, clipped wings were introduced mainly to increase roll-rate, because Spitfire was totaly outclased by Fw190 in this discipline. some results of clipped wings advantages: - a small increase in the rate of roll - a slight increase in speed bellow about 20000ft disadvantages: - an inability to turn as fast of tight as an aircraft with normal wings due to an increased stalling speed in the turn - a small increase in take-off run - a loss in maximum rate of climb at any height of 160 - 200ft/min - a lowering of the service ceiling by 1800ft - a decrease speed above 20000ft It comes from test where several Spitfire models were tested so, for Mk.IXc some figures may not be exactly the same, but will be similar or close. btw. the last sentence in report is : "... it is recommended that the wings tips are not removed from Spitfire aircraft" -
just guess, what was your fuel quantity after one hour long flight at low altitude?

If i remember it correctly, AFN frequency was never adjustable for 190, only for 109. (for 109 it works wrong way, but it was debated nearly 2 years ago in 109 subforum here) We have to wait for proper WWII radio systems, may be one day :music_whistling:
-
Necessary homing beacon is not included in DCS W, it is not about particular map, it is missing for whole DCS W... :)
-
Is there any beacon? I think Normandy does not have any WWII radio navigation system or aid. For proper function AFN-2 we need beacons and they do not part of DCS W, unfortunately. AFN can be tuned in ILS frequency (out of real AFN range, btw.) on Caucasus map and then you can hear ID in morse code, if you swith from "FT FT" to "Y ZF" position on Volume control box. Needles on AFN indicator show some nonsence, even you have right ILS frequency... that is for 109, think for 190 it does not work in any way

I tried to kill tanks by using bombs, off-line. Direct hit is necessary to kill it. But for bomb fuse i recomend no delay setting. I hit diretly Firefly tank with 500kg with MV setting (delay) and i could see my bomb on that tank, when i hit it. Surprisingly after explosion, tank looked intact no fire, no smoke. Tank was hit according to log. Then I set fuse without delay and when i finaly hit Firefly, it was destroyed. That is my experience. Tiger II can be destroyed by US 500lbs bomb with direct hit too, for example. The best way to kill tank is use HVARs, unfortunately Luftwaffe does not have this advantage (and never had). It is nearly impossible to kill tank using bomb, especially in windy conditions.
-
After 30min long flight, with engine settings 2700/3000/3250RPM during it, i switched it ON. Even fast flight, 590+, engine died after 5-6minutes, my plane was not hit.. No, it is not repaired, unfortunately.
-
You probably delivered 500 right, unfortunately something has changed since the last update. I was not successful too, so i tried it off-line. And Firefly is no longer "soft" target, even i hit it directly i couldn't kill it with 500... btw. Pz IVH underwent the same improvement

If you want to learn WWII plane and not modern, the Mustang has the best handling characteristics from WWII planes, does not matter on ground or in the air. The Mustang is the easiest way to learn to fly WWII plane. You will not do wrong if you choose it.
-
Perhaps this from last update: Known issues Spitfire tail wheel contact model with ground is broken.

pressure, LoL no, they just left server.. stats are clear

Do we need an airquake server for WW2?
saburo_cz replied to gavagai's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I think that price is not main problem. As i know, the most people who play air simulators have at least one WWII plane and Normandy map with asset pack. The problem is missing or ended support from ED, like unfinished modules, overbuged everything around WWII content, unfinished map itself. Tragic never-ending story "NEW damage model" is another funny story. People rather goes play something existing instead always only read "more information SOON" and soon expired far ago. Small part of low online population is lack of new scenarios, if there only one mission is on server, players will leave, but that is understandable. What can server admin do if he has nothing, unfinished one small map and incomplete asset pack, it is hard... -
Do we need an airquake server for WW2?
saburo_cz replied to gavagai's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
not only one server with WWII scenario is here, but servers with airquake or similar scenario are nearly permanently empty I ask you, why is that? It seem not to be airquake which will be solution for declining WWII population in DCS world. The problem is far elsewhere. I do not mean servers admins. -
That is exactly my position except i do not buy anything until P-47 release...

I think it was something like they ask them to finish Normandy. Yes, it is "Very, very disappointing." Can’t agree more.

[NEED TRACK] Generator repair does not work
saburo_cz replied to saburo_cz's topic in Bugs and Problems
I did flight after that "repair" with standard settings, 3250 for take-off and 3000 during that flight... It was without radio (no power..) no weapon lights and flickering systems lights.
