Upgrading from an X-52 (stick only)?
313_Nevo replied to Ultra's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Cobra M5 seems to be good choice -
looks really good

The point is to build discipline. Real pilots need good one, so do the virtual. Be disciplined when the new sale come... With the last sale I was like kid in candy store - I wanted FC3, wanted Ka50, wanted Dora, ... but then I realized that they will just fill my hangar gathering dust. But I was sure I want to support the devs so I came with the idea to buy modules which I already have (and because they were for real good price). :) I bought two extra Mustangs, and as it was Christmas time I gave one as present to my friend (one still left, didnt have time yet to make someone happy ;) ). The same discipline applied to the modules I have. I started my virtual (online) carrier with P51D. I played P51 on WWII servers recently. And with the latest release of MiG15 I am going to start Korea war carrier. With the upcoming release of F18/F14 I will start my modern era carrier. Makes really sense to me ;) The same applies to my hardware - nothing special - no HOTAS, no TrackIR, no 4k panels. As it runs smooth and as I am more often behind someone then in front of then I am OK with it. :music_whistling:

What kind of Headtracking system are you using?

None - mouse for looking around :) -
This will be great, also addition of MiG23

I second that Python  ... :music_whistling:

HOTAS Warthog: with or without rudder pedals..?
313_Nevo replied to GurbY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This was always surprising me, how does it come that someone can afford TM WH and not set of good pedals :noexpression: -
Mouse Y axis (or z) for thrust
313_Nevo replied to solidusbucket's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I knew it, I knew it, I knew it must be here somewhere.. and I already found it :) here we go, some lua magic for mouse http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2153854&postcount=22 -
I am all for human RIO myslef :) btw I dont think it is in place to compare WWI/II gunner with F14 RIO, while you can get bored like gunner you have lot to do as RIO.

actually, what is outside of the edges of Georgia? :)

7rooper maybe (not sure) cheap second hand Cyborg FLY5 can be used to provide the needed connector for X55 extension

here is why I may switch to A version of A-10
313_Nevo replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in Chit-Chat
I would also prefer all the aircrafts to be early versions. F14A? perfect less demanding on devs, less demanding on players -
Custom switch panel - Just a quick question...
313_Nevo replied to DTWD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
maybe you can also try to rebuild some cheap old/second hand USB joystick. friend build: Trust Predator GM2500 final switch panel something also here: DIY Tiny Button Box. A tutorial... kinda Trust again final switch panel -
FaceTrackNoIR v170 released!
313_Nevo replied to V4Friend's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have FaceTrack (v170 + Hotfix1 v170 installed) and it worked for me 'out of the box' - install, run FT, run DCS. same here W7 64 Steam DCS -
its a shame that today sim developers dont allow planes control with mouse (expect mentioned ROF). I mean the way it was in good old games like Warbirds or MS Flight Sim 98 (and previous?) - simple X,Y axes and some buttons. But back on topic: As mentioned in separate thread there are few options how to make mouse work as a joystick in this 'modern' games. Here are some and more: Virtual joysticks - no physical joystick needed: 1) PPJoy - virtual joystick driver with mouse emulation 'out of the box'. I am using it and it works to some extent (using it only to map mouse scroll wheel to throttle). but my Win7 64 needs to be permanently in 'test mode' as ppjoy is unsigned driver. 2) VJoy - virtual joystick similar to PPJoy but I think there is no need for the OS to be in 'test mode'. It is possible to map mouse to the virtual joystick by additional scripting: "vJoy can translate the mouse coordinates (and wheel and buttons) into joystick positions, hence controlling the user-application. However, vJoy is a general-purpose driver. It was not design for mouse-to-joystick translation. You will have to write a simple feeder software to bridge the gap between the mouse and vJoy. The feeder will read the mouse data and feed vJoy driver with these data." Some other solution: 3) AutoHotkey (AHK) - "is a free, open-source macro-creation and automation software for Windows that allows users to automate repetitive tasks". You can make joystick to act as a mouse. I haven't tried yet and didnt find similar macro, but I think it should work also the other way making mouse act like a joy.

If this is home-cockpit, then Rift will not kill home-cockpits, the other way up - it will boost home-cockpits imho. DIY Warthog Desk Mount people with Rift on will for sure pursue proper placement of their HOTAS. no more 'hands on the table'. some will still go the Obutto, Volaris, Playseat way, the others will build their own solutions. we dont need to talk about hardcore cockpit building (all the panels, switches, gauges,...). these guys in their garages and workshops will surely survive any technology blast :)

you wouldnt believe but after my previous post I was thinking about the same possibility - DIY lefty CH throttle :) this CH throttle is very versatile controller (saw it used like collective by just mounting it on the side)

Sucha as mentioned the instructor, IRL there are planes where the stick/yoke is in your right, and there are planes where the stick/yoke is in your left. IRL you have to deal with it, nobody ask you what is your primary hand :) But if your friend stands on using joy in his left and throttle in his right hand there is for sure the DIY way

Mouse Y axis (or z) for thrust
313_Nevo replied to solidusbucket's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
nice try solidus  keep it up I was always wondering if there is way how to map throttle to mouse scroll wheel (Z-axis?) via this LUA scripting. But I didnt have much spare time to investigate. What I am using now is PPJoy virtual joystick for this. I think this will work also for the Y axis, but it is not so much elegant solution. It will be great if anybody can advise/suggest something here. One other option could be AutoHotkey scripting I suppose (at least there is a way how to use joystick as a mouse. I found it lately on web but I didnt have chance to try it as I am struggling for some spare time atm. -
lets assume that vibrations are also part of the FFB ;)
-
I think that this is very interesting idea to make other parts of the vcockpit controls FFB. because it is a bit weird for me to have FFB stick and 'dead cold' throttle and pedals :)
