  1. You forgot "vaporware"
  2. Soooooo, nuclear proliferation finally comes to DCS. I guess I can hope we'll see some other assets for strategic balance (I think that's what they are calling MAD nowadays?)
  3. Thank you both for the information! Sad about Filehorst, but glad to see they are still up and going
  4. I guess so! https://isitdownorjust.me/filehorst-de/
  5. Has VSN gone bye-bye? Their downloads are deactivated
  6. Here's hoping to see some more of the distinctive map objects, particularly those that improve Jerusalem from a poorly laid out farm community into the bustling center of three major religions. I don't care that they would be indestructible (I get that), but ya gotta fix the temple area. The warehouse on temple rock is...gross. Also Masada
  7. Thank you xo much. Beautifully rendered! We have truly needed and updated model fo this important class!
  8. Thanks again, sir! I've been playing with a lot of different assets tonight and have been finding that out. <blush>
  9. DCS's AI helicopter damage model is pretty bad... Thanks for the information. I was surprised the 25mm did not engage, but I am sitting down to do some more testing. Thanks again!
  10. Hey CH, possible issue with the LAV Shorad. Two targets VSN F80 at altitude, Core Mi-26 at NOE. LAV engaged both targets - but Mi26 took two Stingers in the face at close range with a brief trail of smoke. LAV continued to engage at VERY short range with Stinger, and never switched to the 25mm cannon. Re-ran it a few different times. On average it took three Stinger hits to bgring down the Mi26. One replay the Mi26 was hit by seven stingers and never crashed The 25mm cannon NEVER engaged. I've attached a couple of different .trk and a .miz file. Thanks for taking a look at it LAV Shorad.trk LAV Shorad2.trk LAV Shorad1.trk CA000 Caucasus Target Ranges Shorad.miz
  11. Just a quick note: Your work is fantastic! Thanks for all these great mods!!
  12. JEEBUS, the US infantry addition is absolutely fearsome! Great job, sir! 10/10!
  13. When I posted it, the hingepoints were on the opposite side of tne canal, that's all.
  14. Your work is priceless! I check CH Milsim before I check my e-mail anymore!! FWIW, I really appreciate how you are constantly revising and reorganizing your content for ease of use and easier identification. Now, off to finish my Swedish invasion of Las Vegas!
  15. This is a priceless addition to DCS!!!
  16. Thank you so much! I have been having this problem forever! Tried reinstalling the module and everything!!!
  17. 1.) Object placement OVDA, Quonset style shelter placement conflicting with HAS’s 2.) Weird AI route following logic on @ El Arish. Startup four-ship in the HAS’s , departure to the north. The AI chose 16R for departure. This required taxiing Delta to 16L/16L to Bravo/Bravo to 16R for takeoff. Crossing on to 16L, #1, and #2 set spacing at about 2000 ft. #3 and #4 waited at the Delta intersection until #1 had turned on Bravo for 16R. #3 was then released to taxi on 16L almost 4000 ft behind #1. #4 was released to taxi about 2000 ft behind #3 3.) Takeoff from parking (hot) spot #102 NEVATIM for RWY 08L. F-16 spawned 1800 feet above RWY 08R, immediately stalled and crashed (repeated X4). Reset to Takeoff from parking (hot) spot #65 for RWY 26R, F-16 spawned normally. Reset scenario for Takeoff from runway. F-16 spawns normally on RWY 26R 4.) Cairo West/Giza Airport: There is no proper tower for Cairo West, Just a scaffolding lookout point where the tower building should be. Giza has none, just a factoryish looking building where the terminal should be 5.) Egregious poor taxi AI. It would seem that Cairo West has NO organic active runway for AI aircraft, having to taxi all the way over to Giza IAP, which has no parallel taxiway for it’s single runway, then taxi ONE AT A TIME all the way down to the south end and depart before the next aircraft can taxi. Kind of the same problem at El Arish, AI finds the absolute furthest RWY at the farthest point of the airport and sends the AC crawling over to it.. 6.) Qantara pontoon bridge hinges on the WEST side of the Canal N30.50.37/E32.19.5
  18. I agree 100%. Q1 2024 at the EARLIEST, but I won't believe it until it's on my hard drive
  19. As someone who predates the Phantom IRL, I feel exactly the same way. It's taken FAR to long to bring this bird to fruition. It was not first announced in 2022. It was FIRST announced in 2017 by Belsimtek. I actually hope to live long enough to see it on my hard drive, but I don't believe it will come out this year. 1Q 2024 at the EARLIEST. It's been done before
  20. I don't think Razbam's Dirt Chicken will inhibit sales of the F-4E, but I absolutely believe, the RELEASE of the F-4 will only come 4-6 months after the SE. That is not saying the F-4 is ready to go, but I don't think ED is going to allow any other premium jet to be released before the SE. ED strenuously denies that's happening, but it only makes sense to spread out the release dates of premium content. I NEVER bought into the 2022 release of the Phantom. At the end of last year, there was significant anticipation that the SE was going to be released before Christmas, then again in May '23. now it's June and I don't expect the Rhino until 1Q 2024 at the EARLIEST, but everything with this sim, as wonderful as it is, reminds me of Lucy with the football in the old Peanuts cartoon. If you know, you know.
  21. The short answer to the OP as to why so much negativity? Because, we are by nature, grognards, "grumblers" , Not necessarily a bad thing, it's what we do. There are some misconceptions though. The Phantom was not first announced in 2022. It was FIRST announced somewhere around 2017 by Belsimtek. There were a couple of development shots and then stone dead silence. ED did everything they could to hide it except say it was vaporware. Gradually it was grudgingly leaked that it was shelved for maybe a later time. So it was, in reality, vaporware. Mind you, we got all the zot and lazer fighters afterwards, but the big open sore in ED was the shutdown of the Rhino for...the Christen Eagle, the I-16 and the Yak-52 etc. It's left a bad taste and, until it is actually on my hard drive, I have little confidence that it will be actually on delivered. So, we grumble. Then Heatblur announces they were picking up the mantle and...more silence. Not debating the devs philosophy, but, we've been here before. I take each reveal with a grain of salt. I NEVER believed a 2022 release date, and with the interminable delays of Razbam's super premium zot bot, the Strike Eagle, I can't help but think that ED will delay the release of the Phantom until 4-6 months after the SE because, truth is, some of us only have so much money to spend (ED stridently denies it). So I am HOPING to see a first half 2024 release of the Phantom. I have been playing this family of sims since the original "Flanker" was first introduced in 1995 by SSI. I am old and have been waiting for the natural evolution of the Flanker family to include the mighty Phantom ever since LOMAC. Why they couldn't toss in a Flaming Cliffs version of the Phantom years ago is beyond me, so I grumble. I grumble because as my time grows shorter and the delays grow longer, my dream of flying the Phantom in my living room before I go west just gets farther and farther away. Since I am actually OLDER than the Phantom, and it was my first and most enduring love, I declare that I have a right (maybe even duty) to grumble.
  22. Ran a simple, purely AI, ferry flight from Supercarrier to Incirlik. On landing both taxied to the shelters to park and drove through the back wall and parked in the grass/fencing behind. Didn't find it listed so... here it is.

  23. Jeebus, I was testing whether my MIM-104 set up was even working (It wasn't on the Guam map). Over three completed tests with a Patriot battery and some SHORAD against a single Tu-22M3 flying directly at the battery, the Patriot launched 29 missiles and achieved exactly ZERO hits/none/NADA/zilch! The breakdown was 13/8/8 for a kill rate of 0% Several missiles exploded right after launch. Many exploded way too early, and of the ones that got close (VERY close) never triggered the proximity fuse The SHORAD (Avengers) launched a total of 14 Stingers and achieved three hits/2 kills 7/5/2 for a kill rate of 21% For sh*ts and giggles: I switched sides S-300 vs B1B 1 shot/1 kill The Patriot system is AWFUL in DCS! I'd have more luck with a slingshot and 5 smooth stones!
  24. That's a wonderful post and perfectly encapsulates what I meant. Thank you, it's very well done. On the Persian Gulf map with one, maybe two exceptions I had to "build" a list of targets, cobbling together the in game structures to vaguely resemble an electrical generation system (including the nuke at Bushehr) It's particularly nice that the PG/Iran map is blissfully full of high tension wires! I don't expect ED to specifically model the details of each power plant, but it would be nice to have a selection of generic plants and substations so that we could add them as strategic targets. I truly, TRULY appreciate the work the devs have put into making these highly detailed maps. I have spent hours "driving" through Beirut, Damascus, Guam, and Normandy et al, marveling at how much effort went into these maps. The detail is amazing, but you also begin to appreciate there are warts too. I love the added details in map upgrades with really cool castles, and other points of interest....but what I would really like to see more of is strategic targets. Granted, we don't have a Ruhr/Essen map, but surely their are some larger factory complexes , storehouses, depots and all that could be simulated also. Your post was excellent and I've bookmarked it for further study. Thank you, again.
  25. Can a few power stations be added. They would make great strategic targets. I've cobbled a few together in the past from pieces/parts of the static menu, but it would be a worthy addition to make a couple of dedicated stations, substations et al.
