  1. I've checked the briefing docs but is there a more detailed illustration of the turn / trigger points as I keep missing one. I've got better results flying slower 200kts as opposed to the 200-250 it advises but I still have trouble, often being told I'm off course before I've made the turn or being told to make a second turn while still making the first. Eventually I find myself on a leg which I'm never told to turn off. It might help if I knew actually where I was aiming for.
  2. If I catch the problem again I can do.
  3. It's not that. Inverter is second on my checklist and I think I'd have far bigger problems if I'd missed it. Plus the message clears after a few seconds. I can't quite diagnose the problem because I can't reproduce it reliably but, rechecking parts of the manual I can see that the data uploads about 30 seconds after I turn on the IFFCC. However I turn it and the CICU on together and the CICU itself takes a moment to power up. I'm thinking that I maybe need to give the CICU a few seconds before I turn on the IFFCC to be sure it is powered and ready. It's a strange problem because it seems to be linked to how fast I move through the sequence rather than the order in which I do things.
  4. I'm finally getting to grips with the Hog-C and really enjoying it but one issue that I can't seem to crack is DTS upload which sometimes doesn't happen. My basic process is ; after the APU / APU generator I'll turn in CDU and EGI. Engine start. APU / APU Gen off. CICU on. IFFCC Test. EAC Arm. MFCD Load all. Now, it seems to have a problem if I move too slowly. Sometime there is a highlight just below "load all". "INST INVRT" as I recall. If I load then, DTS seems to work fine. If the highlight is gone, it's too late. Certainly waiting for the CDU to fully align seems to prevent loading. Additionally, is there a way to correct this as turning and restarting the systems doesn't seem to do it? Any insights would be very welcome. Since posting I've been playing around and figured out how to reload the data from the CDU ( which is looking to be the most complex thing on this bird ) but still it would be better not to have the problem in the first place.
  5. Strangely I just used this link a few days ago on a different topic. http://www.simhq.com/_air14/air_508b.html Lots of factors but dive angle makes a huge difference to dispersion. I've not flown the Kamov in a while but I'm learning the A10-C at the moment and I'm finding steeper has really improved my gun and rocket accuracy.
  6. Cthulhu, I do a double take every time you post. I use the same avatar on a different forum and every time I see one of your posts I keep thinking its one of mine.
  7. Is the single mission>firing range not suitable? Or were you needing something more in depth?
  8. The pinkie switch can override light settings. Could be it's in the off position.
  9. Not about the A10 but read this article on unguided rockets in the Kamov and the "flashlight principle". http://www.simhq.com/_air14/air_508b.html According to this a steeper dive will give greater accuracy on the longitudinal axis. Dispersion on the GAU shouldn't be as great as with unguided rockets but the principle still applies.
  10. On a stand between my legs seems easiest and most realistic. I've been looking at speaker stands initially. They seem pretty sturdy. It'll just be a matter of finding one that's the right height.
  11. I decided to bite the bullet and got myself the Warthog setup a couple of days ago and I'm loving it. I'd done fine with my X52 but when I started the training missions for the A10C it became obvious I really needed the extra functionality. Thus far I've still been mostly in the training flights but the solidity and precision of the stick just feels so much better. A few test flights with the Gazelle have shown a marked improvement in control and stability. Really feel I'm flying this helo now. The only thing is I've not yet found a really good position for the stick. On my desk is fine but it will be far too high if I get an extension but I don't yet have a way to mount it lower.
  12. I have CH Pedals and while I have never used the CH manager to adjust the settings, when dust gets in the works and response becomes "fuzzy", the diagnostics are good for checking responses when I clean them.

    Tutorial?

Been a while since I played them but I remember the first tutorial being the worst. Once you get into more advanced functions they become more informative. Speech would really have helped though, especially for the ones where things happen quite quickly.
  14. Gryphon, you shouldn't need to download anything. Check in your DCS World/mods/aircraft/F86/docs. I've got an English manual in there that's over 300 pages. I'm running DCS 1.5 though that shouldn't make a difference.
  15. Lake District is good for the feathered varieties of bird too, I've seen a few of them around but they don't excite quite the way their mechanical cousins do. Only place I've seen the F 15 in the flesh and the Herc makes some great low level passes around the lakes. My main problem is, being in work I usually only hear them and they're gone before I can get a look. I missed the Vulcan's farewell that way, heard it but too late to get a glimpse.
  16. I work in Keswick, in the Lake District, Cumbria and it's great mountainous terrain. You see a lot flying through here; Hercs, Hawks and Typhoons. Been seeing Eagles who are through for a few weeks each year. We even had an Osprey pass through recently which I sadly missed. One of my colleagues has seen something which he thought might have been an L-39. I've only caught a glimpse and can't say he's wrong ( but won't confirm it either ). Anybody able to confirm or correct us on this? Thanks.
  17. FC2 had an F15 mission where you had to make a low level supersonic pass on a Russian ship to warn it off. It was always a favourite mission of mine.
  18. MBot, I just wanted to say a big thank you for this campaign. I've just finished it and have really enjoyed it, both as a great DCS experience and a chance to get to know and appreciate the Mig 21. It was a close run thing, partly because I forgot to modify the files after an update meaning I had to endure far longer than was intended. I had massive frustration with missions where I was killed in the initial merge, an insane knife fight with five F16s where I scored two kills and lived to tell the tail plus one epic victory where we downed 6 Falcons and 6 Eagles for no losses. Truthfully in the end I have to credit our air defence forces for keeping the enemy at bay until the offensive began. Overall, some of the most fun I've had with DCS and I can't wait to see your next work.
  19. I'm reporting this in the Mig 21 forum because this is where I found it but I suspect it may be a DCS bug. The cockpit mirror is lit according to the internal light in the cockpit not by the reflection. To clarify, I was doing a night flight but the taxi-way lights didn't show in the mirror until I shown the torch at it. I can guess why this is happening, the mirror presumably is in internal texture rather than an external view. Presumably it could be solved by having the mirror always illuminated?
  20. I've not played that campaign myself but looking at it it seems to be of the semi-dynamic type so you can move forward and backwards. It also seems to have no player feedback in mission. However Maddog has done an updated version and includes win / loss messages in his fixes. You might want to think about playing it instead. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1474196/
  21. Diablo, there are problems with older missions in the current build so, yes, it could be a bug. Some campaigns though are broken into stages, three or four missions that are picked at random until you score sufficiently to move forward. Which specific campaign are you playing?
  22. Simple, thanks. I'll look into that myself. I'm tired of reaching for the keyboard and catching the lead.
  23. I've never dabbled with wireless but I assume its just a small USB module on each end. What did you go with?
  24. Not played the A10C yet but the Mig 21 isn't a complex aircraft. It is quite a high workload aircraft though, very little assistance or automation.
  25. I will try that, thanks. Yup, took off without it, same problem, turned it on and voila! I would have had a lot of problems with that, thanks Spectrum.
