  1. What MegOhm said. Point is that the actual RTXes are to expansive for just 8Gb Ram. Bigger screens. WQHD or even 4k. This is where the fun begins aside from VR. So I'd wait for the 30XX RTXes and maybe that brings me close to the next gen ryzen, too. Where the last might not be worth the wait having 3700 in the shelves as of yet.
  2. i2500K @ 4.2GHz, gtx 1080, 16Gb Ram for 3840x1600 WQHD. 60fps. TiR, x52pro throttle, vkb gunfighter mkIII pro, Thrustmaster TPR. This is where I put my money on. DCS runs on everything you can buy as of now. Ok - no ingame msaa - but f*** it when you can run it on 3840x1600! Decent hotas - by far more fun, then throwing usless money on the cpu. And yes, I do hope for vulcan and all it's magic, too. But then we can by the next gen ryzen or maybe 10nm intel (*cough*) and 30XX rtx. Save money on cpu and put it on monitor, hotas, TrackIR or VR.
  3. All in all it it is a simulator. You can't do things 'wrong' unless you loose the fun doing it. As long as you have fun, you do stuff right. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/index.php?set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=3&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=535&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter I have a ton of fun with some of these campaigns!
  4. OK, that's it. Thank you Harker! Now with mu110 jtac mod https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=228750 everything is working as intended - precision bombing on the fly -.-
  5. Guys, I lost track - what INPUT format for waypoints do we need atm (2.5.6)? DD MM SS or DD MM.MM and for precision DD MM SS.SS or DD MM.MMMM? Decimal minutes or Seconds? Thank you, Hek
  6. Tbh I don't think that you can break it down to a simple intel or amd question. There are way to many relevant points. Imho you can run DCS very well on both CPU's. For DCS alone you still rate single thread performance high. You want to have a graphics card that has enough juice to feed your monitor. Obviously you need higher power the higher the resolution of your screen / the more AA you want (I do prefer more resolution over higher AA..). Finding the sweet spot performance/cost is the point. I am still running my sandy bridge 2500k but it is happy doing aircooled 4.5GHz. My 1080 (non ti) gfx is struggeling to deliver contant 60frames for my 1600p monitor. Then again to not upgrading my rig as of yet saved me the money for hardware like vkb, tpr, and TrackIr. Keep these things in mind. In the long run you want decent hardware hotas to have more fun. AAR mission with that super exact stick is much more doable then when I used my not bad at all x52 Hotas...
  7. Ideas? Alot.. So far I do not have any problems with radar contacts... Radar range, bars, azimut, just all that affects your scan volume. I don't see a problem with the mission nor with FA18 module.
  8. Looks like they changed the input format to DDMM.MM or DDMM.MMMM in precise mode. Default is decimal minutes now.
  9. Usually I am not the guy writing fanboyish articles - but this time I have to make an exclude. Today my Gunfighter MKII MCG Pro en arrived. What can I say? I am really impressed because I had never expected such a difference to my former stick which was not bad at all (X52 Pro). But this thing is a whole new ballpark. I have quite a lot hours in the Huey, the Shark and Gazelle right now this became different. You really can 'think' the airframe where you want it to have. Absolutely fantastic.
  10. Guys the issue is NOT relevant to your LANGUAGE. I'am running the german version of open beta, have not been able to download the module (gray icon in start screen). Using the DCS_updater.exe install DCS F-16C I was able to download the module an I am flying the training missions as of now.
  11. Radios in OFF position need squelch...? -> Bug. Just had the same experience, had my ears almost bleed while Wags was talking me further down the start procedure with his narrators voice... ah so much fun already (was cruisin down the landscape, too since I hadn't set my brakes nor throttle axis, too haha)
  12. still: 00000.010 INFO : branch: openbeta 00000.010 STATUS: Connecting to update servers... 00000.389 INFO : Got reply from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com 00000.676 INFO : Got reply from srv1update.digitalcombatsimulator.com 00000.678 STATUS: Verifying cached version info... 00001.132 STATUS: Bereite die Installation vor ...dcs,f-16c ... 00001.451 ERROR: Unknown module dcs 00005.270 === Log closed.
  13. can you plz tell if you have the problem with the module being gray (as if you had to buy it again) but you ARE running the english version of the open beta?
  14. my suspicion is, that it is a problem with NON english installs...
  15. one thing is the download of the update to the actual open beta. Other thing is the download of the module. (That is where I am stuck right now.)
  16. it is always the same error: Error starting Game GUI: [string "./MissionEditor/modules/optionsModsScripts.lua"]:32: attempt to concatenate local 'filepath' (a nil value) already sticky workaround on discord
  17. cmd is not in dcs but open a console (old win 3.1 style ...) within your games folder to run the updater.exe manually
  18. How do you change language? Do you need to reinstall?
  19. I do like this guide, or the idea behind it. Of course it is as stated one mans idea, but hey - so is the original, too. Maybe get some friends aside to help/assist you? Ah and to the A/B/C whatever model of aircraft - I really don't care coz I do know what module / campaign he is talking about. I do much more support the general idea of this guide.
  20. Just did that mission - and have had the 'normal' tunnel/blackening vision effect. Maybe check your settings?
  21. Is there anything in the pipe? That we are getting a proper taxi light at least? The issue dates back almost two(?) years now. Way more important than wake turbulence or wing vapor for me tbh.
  22. Can you plz try to do the same but just drop ONE bomb at a time? I believe to observe some strange behavior dropping more than one cbu. I am intensively testing the canister munitions since several updates. Usually my assumption was that if you use more than one bomb at one target that you intensify the damage on that spot. Strange thing is that I believe to get better results manually dropping the bombs one at a time then like to ripple fire them... Therefor I am asking if it is just me or if you might be able to repeat that observation.
  23. For the SA page thingy to work all the missions in the campaign need to be reconfigured?
  24. How much would a used mobo be that you can unlock the OC of your cpu and run it @4+ GHz and plug in 8GB more ram? That 980gtx for the 1080p monitor might be enough for now? I myself am still running my old i52500K @4.2GHz aircooled. But just recently went from 1440p monitor to 1600p monitor - thus I don't need ingame AA (wich from my experience cost alot gpu power) just using fxaa out of game. DCS still (and will not in forseable future?) doesn't make use of many cores.. So unless you don't do other cpu hungry tasks like video streaming while playing DCS actually I don't see the use of more than 4 cores atm... Single thread performance to my knowlege is the point you need to look at and where your cpu isn't bad at. Just an idea on how you can get more out of your current system for the least amount of money?
  25. On my side I don't have any problems with the trim system. Use the trim button (magneto clamp) as you do similar in Huey or KA50. Use the trim hat for super fine trimming the helo - you get an nice stable flying machine (much better than Huey imho). It is just that the SAS hasn't to much authority. If you are out of the envelope it can't help you anymore and this happens pretty fast. My general impression reading these forum is, that ppl don't have a good idea on the sensitivity of the real thing. Flying pilots tend to use the picture of 'thinking' the copter where you want it to fly. As of it is that sensitive. The whole thing needs a lot of patience.
