  1. Pretty pointless trying to rely on Auto Handoff in the Viper the way it is currently - the best you can hope for is it gets the Mav seeker close then you still have to manually slew the mav seeker to the tgt - using the overly-sensitive maverick slew controls
  2. Hi Brad - sry but it seems that is not quite correct. As I am unable to post anything from actual manuals - suffice to say there may be an Operational Check with the aircraft jacked to turn the tailwheel to the side, and check if it returns to centerline when let go. If it does not - it might refer you to another paragraph to fault find why the TW isn't returning to center by itself with aircraft in the air.
  3. Thanks for taking the time to explain english to someone who has been speaking it for 50 years. English may not be your first language, but I see you are taking the time to learn patronising sarcasm, please correct me if I am wrong. Coming from an aircrew and aircraft maintenance background, if I told the Captain of our aircraft after he informed me of a current fault that "it had been fixed in October"...I can guarantee the answer would have been along the lines of 'Congratulations, do you want a cookie or something? It's broken now as I have just told you - would you mind doing something about it" But obviously we can't respond like that in the real world. So sorry - was just a bit confused at your response. Several examples of how it is 'currently' broken, and the response from the ED side of things is how it 'had' been fixed. Um ok - well now it is broken again. Maybe something lost in translation, and no I am not barking up anything...just trying to help by adding some more info. I apologise.
  4. LMAO - if I had made the post above, within minutes someone would have jumped down my throat and moaned about 'necro'ing a 3 year old forum thread...and the Mods would have immediately moved it to the Liveries/Skinning > F-16C section! Both these things literally have happened to me in the past few weeks - I feel special
  5. Noticed a small issue with SSA and the JetSeat. After taking off the Ground Bumps and Ground Roll effects continue while flying. Happened so far in Viper and Apache. The effects are quite strong as I assume it is taking your speed into consideration? I can stop it by unchecking the appropriate boxes in the Effect Settings list, but will start again when re-enabled. So I just close SSA and re-open it entirely in flight and it works fine again. Is quite rare it happens and not sure what might be causing it - just normal takeoffs. Using Ver. 2.9.0.0.
  6. Sorry - but did you not see the screenshot I just took and posted above with CPU Core 3 maxed out for the entire duration DCS is open after loading an aircraft?? Disable then re-enable Affinity and it stops maxing out. This side-stepping/ignoring of faults/problems in DCS is getting a little out of control?
  7. AS I mentioned, it is just the cloud reflections that are slow, the general 'sky' reflection looks fine - and by 'jinking' around he didn't allow just the cloud to update in the gauge faces. As I also said if I go above the clouds it is nowhere near as noticeable. The update rate has nothing to do with if you are 'maneuvering' or not. Also it is actually quite noticeable whn you are positioned so every glass instrument face is jagging along at 1 fps - so all the middle ones and all engine gauges down the right etc. If you are maneuvering aroound, setting things up and getting shot at for the entirety of a 1-2hr mission then congrats - I am glad this doesn't effect you - however you felt the need to made false comments about the problem and my post? Personally I am flying to a target area (minimal maneuvering, turning SP - SP), spend 5 mins 'setting things up' before I leave/on the way...straight and level so looking down at the instruments even more than usual.....perhaps orbiting at an IP/or high alt tgt area etc. All during this time I have just noticed this minor performance issue. I don't care if ED want to have a product with 1 fps graphical elements - that's their call. I am just advising of the problem and suggesting a solution. I also don't care how much 'time' it takes....The Viper has taken 5 years to get where it is currently... As far as priorities, ED would rather animate the tail hook that gets used how many times a flight?, compared to looking at gauges that pretty much happens every time I fly at least. So I am not going to even start on ED's 'priorities'. As I also mentioned - they could have an OPTION to adjust it - I never said ED should 'ignore the people that don't have good PCs that play DCS'. Fully explained with video.. and I note this post has been labelled cannot reproduce - sigh.
  8. Same here - affinity off and on does the trick. null
  9. Maybe so - personally my PC is perfectly happy handling more. Just bringing to the attention that such a bad graphical item as this could probably just go away with no great loss. If ED are not prepared to accept that there are computers out there that can handle this, then perhaps a settings option to disable dynamic cloud reflections in instruments might be nice - as I am pretty happy giving up my 1 fps cloud reflection updates. It is certainly noticeable and not in a good way. Given the amount of effort involved into turing this sim into Digital Cockpit Sim, perhaps more time spent on where most pilots spend 95% of the time isn't all bad.
  10. Ryzen 9 5900X, Radeon 6800XT with DCS on a Samsung 970 EVO Plus. I am generally sitting at a theoretical 200-300fps, with a steady 60fps VSYNC setting - so safe to say it is nothing to do with my system. You will note in my vid I am at a solid 60fps....with a 1fps cloud reflection update speed on instrument face glass.
  11. Yup - figured that all out eventually lol. They are sitting in the default folder in Cockpit_F-16C in my Saved Games folder now so all good. Yes looks a lot cleaner now! Quite keen on your pilot suit as I fly mostly on Syria map, but I spent all my flying career wearing the green suit so feels a bit more natural when I look down lol.
  12. Slightly less dirty/worn/damaged Viper cockpit...
  13. Video posted as requested - no further comment on this?
  14. 1:20 - Takeoff force required, which is obviously related to pitch control at low speed/stick forces reqd for aerobrake which I have also noted, and his comments @ 16:55 - full aft stick required and still can't roltate/hold nose up to aerobrake at 150 knots! If you don't 'catch' the nose with considerable back pressure after touchdown you won't be able to aerobrake at all. It is nothing to do with his curves as they have no effect at high stick deflections. As a pilot and aircrew I can tell you that going full aft stick at pretty much touchdown speed following touchdown is a REAL bad idea (unless you want to jump into the air and go flying again really nose-high, stall, and crash probably or bend the gear), however in the DCS Viper it doesn't even lift the nose off the ground. It is quite hard to see his pointing cross in the HUD, but you can see on the AH he is 10 degrees nose-up during the final parts of approach, and should continue to maintain this profile after the main gear touches the ground with pretty much the same stick deflection, as even after landing an aircraft you are still 'flying' it....tail draggers teach you that! Bottom line - the amount of aft stick/tail control surface deflection used to hold the approach profile of the aircraft should be the pretty much the same at 150 knots after you touch the ground as it was at 160 knots before you touched the ground. But hey, this is in the Wish List section - not a bug report. I note I am not the only one bringing this to your attention - and only do so in the hopes of making the DCS Viper better and having landings that require finesse. I have checked all update reports for the last two months since this video was made and see no mention of low speed pitch tuning specifically during T/O and LDG. I also don't use Movers vid as the sole reason it is wrong, but a basic commonsence understanding of aircraft physics as a pilot, flight engineer and aircraft mechanic for the past 30 years. I appreciate this could be a major rework of the hor stab/pitch modelling in the FM so possibly beyond the scope of the developers, which is a shame - but as I mentioned it is a Wish none the less.
  15. Not much to say really, I am sure ED are werll aware the landing and aerobrake performance of the current jet are a long way from reality. If not just ask any SME to comment on it or watch Movers vids. Just would be nice if landing wasn't super-simplified, and the aerobrake wasn't so difficult to obtain/maintain. Mover has stated it should easily just hold a nose-high atitude with minimal backstick - currently need a LOT of backstick to get the nose up and maintained down to 100ish knots. The flight controls shouldn't stop working/lose a bunch of lift as soon as you touch the ground.
  16. Remember to use Manual Pitch Override switch when recovering from deep stall in Viper - and just match nose oscillations with stick movements and it will recover. In that 'other' Viper sim I had to use MPO a LOT - but have never needed it once in DCS in the last 5 years flying the Viper, hopefully that has changed with the latest FM changes.
  17. ** REDACTED **
  18. All good - yes I find I need to adjust every single aircraft I have away from the default viewpoint for a more realistic view. Not exactly sure what you are asking above, sounds like you just need to resposition one of the other in-cockpit view and just cycle between them perhaps, or just try a combination of vertical angle and vertical movement up and down till you have what you need - so just HUD in your view.
  19. Looking at the default views all the 'angle' values are zero, so looking straight ahead, aligned with ctr of seat. Yea negative vAngle is looking down - just tweak more positive and check in-game. You can have it open in Notepad++ and just exit flight, tweak and save, then Fly Again as it reloads the views each flight. You can also just set the angle you want in-game with Numpad 8 and 2, save the view, then tidy up the angles etc. you don't want that get introduced as I mentioned above in the file.
  20. Interested in getting those maps also - but that filesize...yikes. Will be needing to upgrade my 1TB NVMe to 2TB sometime. But at NZ$350 for a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB I am not in any rush lol. Prob more likely and less hassle to just not buy the maps lol. Perhaps if HB didn't take up over 30GB of my drive with modules I don't even have installed, I might be more inclined to buy Kola or Afghan map.....
  21. You can also go into SnapViews.lua inside C:\Users\*******\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View with Notepad++ and make minor adjustments. I always make sure hAngle and z_trans is zero as well after manually saving a view in-game as you may introduce some yaw/sideways offset in your saved view, especially if using TrackIR. Also just as info - the controls in-game are: RCTRL+RSHIFT+NUMPAD / and * to move forward and backwards. RCTRL+RSHIFT+NUMPAD Up(8 ), Down(2),Left(4), Right(6) to Move Camera Up, Down, Left, Right. NUMPAD Up(8 ), Down(2) to rotate head up/down NUMPAD Left(4), Right(6) to rotate head left/right NUMPAD / and * to Zoom In/Out. NUMPAD 5 To Reset Position NUMPAD Enter to Reset Zoom RALT+NUMPAD0 To Save as Default View/Position for This Aircraft. x_trans = 0.12500, -- +FWD -AFT y_trans = 0.08300, -- +UP -DWN z_trans = 0.000000,-- +L -R EDIT: The section you want for your cockpit view is = {--default view As there are heaps of views, I usually just search for 'Default' or the specific aircraft ID such as F-16C.
  22. OvGME does that when you disable a mod - it reverts back to the original file it tucked away for safe keeping when you enabled the mod. No need for a repair unless you have manually removed/altered a file yourself.
  23. What would be really great is if the pilot moved his arm/shoulder out of the way when your viewpoint moves down to the side panels!
  24. Yea I wish mine were that smooth. Running prettty easily at a VSYNC 60 fps with the 'theoretical FPS' generally in the 200-300+ range. Also I notice you were jinking around quite a bit - if you still in a stable turn and let the cloud reflctions update you will prob notice it better. Captured a small video on the Caucasus IA Free Flight. It seems to just be the cloud reflection updates, as when I get above them the gauge reflcetions look fine. The same slow update is in all the gauge glass so engine gauges etc. - and when it is in all of them at once it is pretty bad! Not to be rude but I don't agree with your 'obviously' comment above, as I would happily set reflection update to a higher setting if I had the option and would easily manage it. I am sure this 'used' to be an option in graphics setting in the past - reflection update on the instruments and MFD screens - could be wrong, might be thinking of another Viper sim. I just notice now it is 'static' or 'OFF' which seems different (been away from DCS for couple of years). Attached a screenie of my graphics settings also. By all means if I have a setting incorrect that is causing this, please advise. Cheers Reflection.mp4
  25. Apologies if a known fault in DCS - but the reflections/glare in the various instrument glass faces updates VERY slowly, like 1 FPS. I don't see any setting in options to have a more reasonable reflection update speed?
