  1. How do you know they are 'unrelated' - do you have any genetic proof to back up these wild and unsubstantiated claims? :prop:
  2. Do you mean the AWLS preset channels? Have you grabbed a copy of Chucks latest AV-8B guide? https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AxKvVeNgc1ddXa_xH9W8tEdAblI_Mc5i
  3. Noice!
  4. No longer required.
  5. Using DMT is pretty handy thou for CCIP as you just DESG the target WP and then on the way in you can have a bit of a nosy around the target area using the DMT for a better idea of what you will be looking at during your bombing run. Just a useful tool to use. Obviously if you are running in at 50' you won't see much - but you get the idea.
  6. 1.5 PD and 2xAA also. I put through a ticket regarding the flashes and losing tracking/view resetting just to get it 'on paper'. Support advised me that indeed they are working on a firmware update to fix the flashes. Nothing about the view resetting. In the meantime I have just done what exnihilodub suggested and set my position in Guardian setup while seated in my game rig - at least in that case when flying in DCS and the view resets it resets to exactly my flying position, not outside my aircraft. Sort of stuffs it for any other game, but then I have only had the view reset a total of one time in anything else (Vader Immortal - reset view in-game) - so I definitely think the high frequency of resets is related to DCS somehow - maybe resources too taxed while flying so Rift S loses tracking often? Who knows.
  7. I just go full-on A-A F-4 mode in the Harrier...missiles or nothin! :)
  8. So we are only getting the laser guided E for heavy fortifications and armor, and the F which is a 'D' IR system specifically designed/modified and optimised for anti-shipping. Interesting. Well I guess they might like to get the TPOD working properly if a laser Mav is the only option for ground targets/armor etc.
  9. Thanks a bunch AeroGator for the update! Nothing meant by my post, just thought it had been around 18 months since the first pics so would give this thread a poke with a stick and see if there was any progress info - which you have advised it is still full steam ahead, which is great! I am more than happy to stick with my little TWCS throttle for a few more months (not years!;)) and await the arrival of your awesome looking throttle system.
  10. Good write-up on the Rift S - https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-rift-s-review-good-choice-for-newcomers-difficult-choice-for-vr-vets/
  11. Yes at noted by others there is the infrequent white flash that isn't abiggie. The view resetting to outside the aircraft is a pretty big deal, more so if you are right in the middle of something fairly delicate etc. Just need to map the Re-centre VR view to a button on your joystick and sit straight and re centre - so forget about that particular bombing run or AAR drogue hook up and try again. Looks like it might be a software driver issue which hopefully Oculus will fix soon. There is also quite a bit of jitter with this headset - or if you set it down on a table unmoving - the image will be jittering around. This is standard in VR to some extent or other, (ideally less than 1mm) but has been reported to be quite bad in the Rift S, and seems to not be specifically dependant on the tracking environment as long as you have decent light levels. Hopefully driver updates will improve this also.
  12. Yep fingers crossed - I do know the performance of the Rift CV1 improved dramatically over the last few years and issues were fixed, so I hold hope Oculus will sort out these initial teething issues with the Rift S like viewpoint jumping and white flashes. Will just stick with it, will try setup from rig seated position, as opposed to middle of gaming room - but I also use the headset for other Rift S experiences so use the whole room, not just the gaming rig. An interesting read where everyone isn't so 'happy-clappy' about how amazing the Rift S is.....so reality. -
  13. Make sure you hit the big DEFAULT button following any update. I also had a red light permanently but everything seemed to work fine. By enabling the DEV option I could see the reason for each LED, and they were all screwed up, so hit default and it reset everything properly and it was all sweet. Just a suggestion.
  14. 18 months later - any word on this throttle system?
  15. -1 This would be awesome particularly in VR (providing font was big enough).
  16. So despite my specific comment "Yes it's not 'realistic' (in b4 the realism pitchfork brigade) - but until ED have just the correct portion of the VR display as NVG and we can see under them (albeit in the non-sweetspot part of the headset) - then this will do VERY nicely thanks."..I see you still felt the need to state the fact - good on ya lol. Yes it would be great if it was displayed correctly in VR. Regarding the gain on NVG and flight rated etc - as the FE I did use different goggles than the pilots did - so that may have something to do with it.
  17. No keyboard in reaching range of sim rig. I guess next full-green 3-wire I could extricate myself form my seat and VR headset/wires. Not worth losing a button mapping for. It is a total PITA whenever I want to check FPS - as for some reason this is unmappable to anything else.
  18. Well, because this 'effect' is just plain ridiculous in VR, after a little searching I found a certain post - https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3394085&postcount=13 Lets just say I was a little disappointed that it was an effect placed in by DCS to specifically blur the cockpit - and totally break any usable functionality for all VR users! Simple one-line that is easily changed - so yes very easy to do. This could be a simple check box in Options for 'VR NVG Goggles' to set this focus distance to 0...and actually enable VR users to enjoy night flying again. It does make the 'NVG sparkle' effect just look like a flat panel a metre or so in front of your face, which could be the reason for the focus setting - but TBH I really couldn't care less about that because I can use NVG's again and see stuff! I guess then you will get people complaining about the 'NVG effect looking flat in VR' - not knowing the alternative, so I will give that to you ED. Yes it's not 'realistic' (in b4 the realism pitchfork brigade) - but until ED have just the correct portion of the VR display as NVG and we can see under them (albeit in the non-sweetspot part of the headset) - then this will do VERY nicely thanks. Lets get away from this 'realism at the expense of actual useablility and enjoyment of the sim' approach I have seen creeping in. Just give people the option. OvGME attached for it, just unzip and place with your other mods and enable. NVG Focus Fix.rar
  19. Interesting I have the opposite, checked my latest LSO-boner landing the other day and the entire flightpath was solid green. Trust me, no one was more surprised than I. It was also a stable on-glidepath approach thou. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot button handy in my rig (how do you even screenshot in VR?)..but it would have been a nice one to keep.
  20. I would agree with that - much more stable on approach now. The LSO is getting an awful lot of boners lately..
  21. Thanks for the advice - I just skip the guardian setup entirely now. I got sick or doing it over and over again as I have to re-do it regularly because Rift S always loses the 'playspace' or w/e. The center of my playspace is to my left when in my sim rig, but it resets me perfectly to the right of the pilots seat outside the aircraft at exactly the same spot every time. It is a pretty big immersion killer - I have had to map a button on my joystick to re-centre VR view in DCS as it happens so often (used to use a button on my button box - but bit tricky when you are AAR or flying formation, low level etc!). It is definately a problem with DCS as I have had it happen when I am not moving my head at all - there is just a slight pause and bang the view resets to outside the cockpit on the RH side. Hasn't happened in any other game - but eh might just be the headset. I was seconds away from hooking up with the tanker in the Tomcat and POOF I am floating right behind the probe lol. Made hooking up easy, but formation was tricky. Am still undecided if I am going to keep it or send it back and just go back to my CV1 - it is very annoying. The tracking is pretty average also - there is a slight wobble/waver while in DCS sat perfectly still (plenty of light in room etc etc).
  22. Great to hear, thanks. Yes it seems the 10 units nose up trim stick position is almost a better default position.
  23. I would recommend getting someone who can speak english to have a quick run-through of your webpage https://www.winwing.cn/en/JOYSTICK - some pretty huge spelling mistakes...doesn't really scream professionalism. Throttle base looks interesting. Heaps of sticks/grips on the market - but next to no decent throttles on their own.
