  1. I have used a lot of nice gear for a long time now (Warthog and such). My Saitek pedals stopped being recognized by windows 6 months ago and never could get them to work again. Every time I got ready to order a set of MFGs something else came up, new helmet for my motorcycle, tires, flight out of town, etc. so I kept putting off buying pedals....and not flying. Could not find an affordable, easy access to another set of Saiteks. In the end I was tired of not flying and ordered the Thursmasters. Fully expecting them to be cheapos and maybe give me poor performance. I got them last week. To celebrate I bought the F-5 and NTTR maps. Wow kick myself for waiting so long. This week has been a BLAST!!! The Thrustmaster are not that bad. I did need to grease them a bit like the other poster said. I flew the Huey and it did not suck at all. They are close together and light but I adjusted to that pretty easy. Not MFGs but I can buy 4 sets of Thrustmasters for the price of those and get them in a day (over a month for the MFG). And now I am flying again. I recommend them - not highly but it beats no pedals at all. They are no worst or better than the Saiteks. I got notified a couple of days ago the Saiteks were back in stock at one of the pilot shops here and at NewEgg - so they must be coming back. They also have a button you can use to switch from flying to driving. Not tested that yet but I figure it takes out the axis of the rudder and turns the toe brakes into pedals (IE accelerator and brake). Don't be a gear freak on the ground like I was waiting for the best. Get out there and fly!!
  2. Small request: I guess logically this is the F-5E modeled not the F-5N used by the Navy Fleet Adversary so I can understand not implementing this request. But the "tail numbers" on the nose for VFC-111 are three numbers not just 2. Would be nice in the editor to be able to add three and have them show on the aircraft. Or am I missing a way besides skinning to do this? Thanks for the F-5!!!!
  3. Thanks DeJohn! Rep added Perfect - I would have never found that.
  4. I have 4 monitors and want to move the Crew Status Panel (currently half hidden on 4th lower monitor). In the past I have done this but lost my notes on which file and line to change. I am still on ver 1.2 - (to much stuff and to little time to configure every new update so waiting until 2.0 final :)) Thanks
  5. Good find Puma. I also use VAC and it works great for hands free comms with the AI. I used to use Autohotkey but have now switched to JoytoKey, I find it easier. Setup is easy and a vid for how simple it is :
  6. Yeah I have around 100 switches, buttons and knobs between GoFlight panels, Warthog, MDFs, Programmable keyboard, mouse. I try not to have to use the mouse when flying. Keeping my right hand on the stick not the mouse.
  7. I may be just missing something. Are there bindings for: Batteries, Inverters, External lights;( nav., coll.,form., blade), Dust Covers, Pitots, Gun or Rockets selection?
  8. Small request: If nothing else...please release a paint kit. I hope with a UV Snapshot...Please...see how small this request is. :) Kinda hard to make a good skin now. I don't mind transferring skins into the 2.0 when it arrives.
  9. Ahh it is like I tell my clients - the longer it takes the better it gets. So I am cool with however long it takes. My only gripe would be developers waiting to release a patch (or paint kit..hint hint) until 2.0 is released.
  10. If I had to speculate....mainly cuz I think the developers enjoy it. Goatgate for the avatar. As for upcoming planes and their hints. Wouldn't the planes in the background images on their website be good hints...? I see: F4 Phantom F6F F4F... well an early model of one at least. P38 An Old Carrier
  11. Ok poor SA on my part. I see someone already requested this functionality on the forums. Just put me down for a plus 1. :)
  12. Hi LN - Great Module - best in the flight sim world...ever!!! I am currently using GoFlight modules (5+) for many of the buttons and switches in the Mig21 cockpit. Works great not using keyboard. I would like to setup all of the volume controls & other cockpit rotary knobs onto the GoFlight RP48 rotary knobs. I see you have the volume knobs setup as axis - very logical. However to use the GoFlight RP48 rotary knobs I have to program keyboard shortcuts (their limitation in DCS). They are not seen as axis. Maybe in 2.0 if not too much trouble. Thanks for the great times!!
  13. I have several GoFlight Modules. GF-T8 GF-T8-2 GF-P8 GF-RP48 (Mostly just buttons) I have read from searching several post that people have gotten GoFlight modules to work in DCS. I suppose just as key emulators - which is all I need. But no one says How they did it. Problem I have is the GoFlight software only runs when FSX or P3d is running. How do you get it to run when DCS is running? Thanks!
  14. One way to learn how to land a new AC is to practice many runs at the runway without actually touching. You should never feel that you have to land. Do several runs at the runway staying several feet above it. Your AC should have flaps down but on the first few runs keep the wheels up. after about mid way down do a missed approach, go around and line up again. Once comfortable start doing touch and goes (with your wheels down) while barely touching and then taking off again. Do many many runs this way (like 15 or more) until you are really feeling good. But always keep in mind that you have an option by taking off and going around again. Real world pilots do this. Even the F35 pilots still do it at runways they have not landed on before.
  15. If you guys want a really authentic way the carrier based WW2 fighters did navigation/plotting check out this: They had a drawer the fighter pilot could pull out and work on his plot on this board while flying. The crews of carrier-based aircraft had to keep track of their own position as well as that of their aircraft carrier. This type of plotting board allowed them to track the movements of each and plot a return course. Aircraft plotting board MARK 3A is the model I have. To learn to use Old School navigation and the Mark 3 I purchased these books: (sure there are more modern ways) (Navy) Air Navigation a Five book set - Air Navigation - Part One: Introduction to Earth Air Navigation - Part Two: Introduction to Navigation Air Navigation - Part Three: Dead Reckoning & Lines of Position Air Navigation: Part Four - Navigation Instruments Air Navigation: Part Five - Relative Movement
  16. Open Program Files / Eagle Dynamics / DCS World / Config / View Find the line for your AC under: ViewSettings["P-51D"] = { CameraViewAngleLimits and change the second set of numbers. Mine always reads: CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,120.000000}, I change it to: CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,140.000000},
  17. Stay Hungry LN! It is obvious by your product you have not been burnt out, are hungry to release the best product and not just in it for the pump and dump. I bet you guys are not just punching a clock but have a true passion for your work....kinda cuts into your sleep doesn't it? The community really appreciates the fresh way you handle all aspects of your business. Ok, bring it on in big fella - group hug.
  18. Sooo I am an advocate of more engine noise too. It might not be what the pilot hears but he also has the "feel" of the engines. My Buddy is ops officer for an adversary squadron that flies both F5s and F18 Charlies. He flew in the Gulf war and still flies on a regular bases. I asked him about cockpit noise. First speaking of the F5: "I don't wear earplugs but the helmet does a good job of muffling all the engine noise especially once the canopy is closed. The thing that makes the most noise are the generators. As soon as you secure those things the jet almost sounds like it's not running. I agree with your feedback of the engine noise for sensory stimulation. I think the old hornet sims (he is talking at the base not on his personal computer) I used to fly were accompanied by slight engine noise if I recall correctly. Not sure if the newer ones do or not." Me personally: Personally I have spent time on several carriers underway as a PC. Including time out on the active flight deck and by the LSO station. Ear plugs a must. Last out on the Nimitz my stateroom was right under the catapult.... Now that is one noisy place - after a few days though you do not notice it....much.
  19. For those of us not in the UK it is on Youtube: Part 1 Part 2 Others? 1 of 4 2 of 4 3 of 4 4 of 4 And Cheers to the original poster. Something to watch tonight. :)
  20. I agree!! Personally I have not found it buggy. Good frame rate, love the flight model, munitions work great! Really feels like a small fast fighter. Of coarse the graphics are great. Mig21 sounds on my system are not good but it must be something to do with my system. I can only hear a loud (mind numbing) buzz of the battery, high pitched whine of the ac gen and then just wind. So I just keep sound off when flying the Mig21 and waiting for the sound update. Time will tell if all of the effort LN put into this was worth it for them. If we see another module or they throw their hands up and we never get anything else.
  21. Ahh too funny. I just wiped the oil from my hands and taking a breather from working on my bike. Changed oil, coolant, brake fluid, new high end battery, air filter and more today. Nothing is ever easy. Aluminum oil drain bolt head stripped. Had to go buy air impact wrench and bits. Then grind down the 24mm bit to make it flat (not beveled) at top. The good old $150 oil change. But I have a cool new air impact wrench. Hope to ride all weekend. BMW F650GS
  22. Nice Videos! Love the landings at the end of the third video down. Makes me feel better as I do my landing "adjustment" these days. Big plus that LN modeled bending gear instead of just collapsing the gear and blowing us up for heavy landings.
  23. Thanks Goodnight!!!! You saved the day!
