DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
T_A replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Not sure how to approach this one , the A10C in DCS is probably the easiest plane to operate from the DCS lineup (including WW2 planes and helicopters ,excluding FC3 planes) you really need a good HOTAS and to watch some training videos and you`ll get it fast enough. I`m certain the F-14 will be a whole lot more complicated to operate , especially considering its a two men job. -
If all goes well (fingered crossed) hegykc will probaby produce a stick for every module DCS has...

Can the PFM do the 'Skywalker Sarlacc' ? will the torpedo 90° instant 200g turn be in-game or does your contract with the Galactic Empire forbids it ?
-
They should launch DCS 2.0 today , no one would believe it and the update servers wont be too packed...
-
A10C is too slow for effective CCIP bombing unless you are really doing a major dive which is a risk in itself
-
Thanks for sharing that video , no point in mentioning you need a better stick and TrackIR ... (oops) but i`v seen photos of ED offices where they fly on 17" lcd with probably old comps (must have been A10C development era photos) Keep up the great work!

You guys are blazing fast! keep it up.

I cant figure that out , the F-15A had pretty much the same HUD as the F-15C and other modern Jets (from looking at photos in Google) it was introduced about the same time as the F-14 (give or take 2-3 years) so why is the F-14 so different ? doesn't the US Military set some kind of standard for its contractors ? -
Can we have a March Monthly update please? :)
T_A replied to SilentGun's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Hi Agree with Koriel , i want to get updates like everyone else, but there is really no need to announce when such update will arrive , definitely not ballpark 'in two weeks' etc. when the update is completely ready - you can tease us with a 'expect something tomorrow' otherwise its just trolling. and to those that say stuff like 'atleast they communicate and not like ED' why dont you take a better example - head over to RAZBAM sub-forum , they post updates every week or two , but not making a big deal out of it. p.s I`m a fan of LN and i want news on their products and particularly the F-14 just like the rest of you. -

Isnt first half of next week from the 15/3... next week? if it was middle of this week, he would have said this week. just logic here p.s iron eagle sucks , waste of flying hours for those IAF F-16`s (yes im sure IAF was paid for those) -
Personally i like instant gratification I would just take it as-is , if you get a better printer down the road etc then all the better (there are plenty of stuff you plan to make that people will buy than just the hornet grip/throttle ) Also you could probably fund a few more printers if you show a good enough business model to a bank, or just start a kickstarter even. just throwing around ideas...

Most impressive guys, i also LOVE how to you share so much of the internal development process, if nothing else , it give alot of confidence that things are progressing and this module will see the light of day. anyway , the screens look great and its amazing to see the cockpit with working systems/gauges.

Pretty simple solution for the installer to do: 1) Rename DCS Folder to DCS-Temp (or what ever) 2) Create a new folder name like old DCS folder 3) Take all the files you need (modules etc.) from DCS Temp folder to new DCS folder 4) Download all the rest of the files 5) Empty DCS Temp folder except for user`s files (mods etc.) 6) Done. See , no fuss. P.S That is exactly what the open beta client does , except it doesn't touch the old folder, just copies the files it needs.

Samsung SSD 840 susceptible to flash read speed degradation
T_A replied to leafer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
BitMaster pretty much summed it up, with all the bad rep SSD reliability got , people are clueless that HDD are not even half as reliable even under normal use (i wont even go into External USB drives and Laptops uses) -

That test you put up has 840 EVO 120GB , not PRO (not sure if you meant it showed a PRO) anyway my 250 EVO did in around 10 months 2.2TB and its my OS and Games drive so reaching even that 80 TB for 120GB in the test seems unlikely (and 250 will last atleast twice) -

If you are really interested in endurance of SSD drive , you really need to read this article about SSD drive comparison for maximum writes before errors and before complete drive failure. The SSD Endurance Experiment: They're all dead of course all drives will die in the end , but some (like Samsung) showed amazing numbers that would take real world users many many years to reach (by that time you will upgrade several SSD`s atleast) the 840 Pro reached 2.4 petabytes (!!!!) before dieing. -
I`ll give ED credit on this matter - their servers are FAST , when downloading modules/updates i always get around 7-9MB/sec (about my whole 100mbit connection) and they also got a torrent option. so if you dont live in country that limits traffit or have slow internet , i really don't see a reason to waste space on .

Actually RAZBAM put alot more updates recently than any other 3rd party dev or ED. if you expect daily videos and screenshots for a product it takes 1-2 years to develop you will be disappointed.

ED learned already , maybe LN will too sometime- don`t give any dates , even vague for newsletters. the community WILL eat you up alive. -
I`v got the PC360 with trackir track clip . they work great , but not everyone would like the open ear and they are a bit warm to the ears. they are hard to find but you can get the PC360D (which are the same + a USB sound ) or the G4ME ZERO edition which i think are the same but look less like a high end set and more like 'gaming gear' last thing - on board sound card would not cut it, these headset NEED amplification , at least for movies if not games.

Your spec should give you much better performence , especialy at the lowest settings (i had DCS on AMD 5770 and it run not that bad on medium untill i upgraded.
-
Are you referring to the TGP (targeting pod ) which uses CCD sensor ? or the maverick targeting page? i suggest you go over the training missions in the A10C , also make sure you know what controls you use for slewing the target cursor .

Thanks , i found some of those photos already but wasn't sure it was the same thing discussed here since i did not recall ever seeing a F-14 with those deployed (on TV, photos etc...)
