  1. "After reading your feedback from our earlier announcement of the upcoming ED Miles loyalty program, we have modified our plans to better support our clients with Bonus Program points. Rather than have Bonus Program points expire at the launch of the ED Miles, we will allow Bonus Program points to expire one year from their earning or until March 31st, 2020, whichever comes first. This will allow all clients to use their Bonus Program points for up to one year since the points were earned. Additionally, you can get up to 30% off DCS World e-Shop purchases using your Bonus Points during the week before the launch of ED Miles. This will include all developers taking part in the Bonus Program." Thank you, this should give me enough time to use $101 in bonus cash, hopefully enough new modules will be released between now and March 2020.
  2. You're saying the lesson is "don't trust eagle dynamics"? That's a terrible lesson to teach your customers. Or, eagle dynamics could do the right thing and just let people use their bonus money on any new modules until the money is used up. Honestly, more good will would come of that than the amount of money "saved" by taking advantage of users' trust.
  3. Yeah, the Mig-19 was the first module I was able to purchase outright with bonus cash. Thankfully I did that instead of getting more bonus money.
  4. So ED will basically just get rid of the bonus money I already accrued? $101 is a lot of money just to see vanish. Can you please have some sort of bonus money --> ED miles conversion? I like the new system, I just hate losing all the cash I've accumulated but been unable to use.
  5. It's already materialized and it is in the Vive Pro Eye that has already been demoed. It's expected for release later this year.
  6. I've been able to actually identify airplanes and can see how they're maneuvering during a dogfight with 4k unlike VR. Spotting a dot is not that hard.
  7. Mac OS X and Linux are logical platforms to port DCS to. I think the military would consider going with Linux for security reasons if they want to deploy DCS for large networked simulations.
  8. I'm sure cross platform compatibility is a huge reason to go with vulkan as well.

    Black Shark 3?

I would pay $40 for another version of the Black Shark even if it was just an update for the original.
  10. I have the Asus, got it on sale for $1800, and then got another "employee relative" 35% discount, so a total $1170 including tax. :D I'm hoping that HTC cranks up the pixel density on the Vive Pro Eye by 50%, so that with foveated rendering we get higher quality picture for about the same performance, and we might literally be just a few months away... I hope.
  11. I'd say the opposite, if you're on a low budget, go with VR since you won't be able to get high resolution (4k) easily but you should be able to push pixels on the low resolution VR headset. If you have the large enough budget, go with 4k @120hz, nothing comes close to the realism and immersion of crystal clear picture. It's like you're literally in a cockpit looking out over the Persian Gulf, it's amazing.
  12. I play DCS on a 27" 4k monitor at 120Hz and Gsync. The graphical fidelity of this setup is without competition, VR simply can not replicate the feeling of actually seeing the beautiful details of the DCS world, airplane instruments. With TrackIR and super high resolution, you get the feeling like you're actually in the sim, and not like you're looking through blurry tunnels with tons of visual aberrations. Until we get super high res screens and performance to match (like with foveated rendering), VR is just not there to go all in yet (maybe Vive Pro Eye?). It's a fun little experience, but it just can't compare with 4k.
  13. That's interesting though, I wonder why they have a parent company called Magnitude 3 LLC but still refer to Leatherneck Simulations. Maybe legal requirement after split with heatblur.
  14. I'd wait for foveated rendering tech with the new Vive Pro eye.
  15. I'm not able to move the mixture lever to RICH in the cold start, it seems the mouse control is bugged and needs axis control.
  16. I think foveated rendering is the only way to get 90fps again.
  17. What are you talking about? I already said that the screen's pixel density can increase by 30% and you can have the same FPS performance as before. Higher pixel density means higher clarity, and foveated rendering is the only way to make this possible.
  18. Foveated rendering of a scene focuses graphics rendering to a portion of the display and uses less intensive resources to the periphery. Thus, higher resolution, higher clarity, and equal/higher performance. This is a no brainer. If you own an Oculus already, then you're out of luck and will have to use outdated tech.
  19. Foveated rendering is the most important development for VR performance and immersion. Especially since it has already been announced, it would be a bad idea to buy a current gen display.
  20. You're wrong on that: foveated rendering allows the PPI of screens to be increased dramatically, but because only a fraction of the pixels are rendered at the highest resolution, performance shouldn't decrease significantly. If anything, FPS will actually increase. I think there's a 30% performance bonus with foveated rendering on versus off. So, if you increase the PPI by 30%, you should have equal performance. Not bad!
