I stand corrected as well and owe Magnitude an apology for stating it was broken before I did a little more flying and testing. Reflected's video helped with the proper approach altitude and speed. I was landing it too close to the Hornets approach. I am uploading a video now to show it can be done with no issues and to prove the WW2 map works with it just fine. I will post it on here shortly. To avoid confusion, I have pulled my last video off the channel, so it does not mislead anyone. Thanks to all who posted comments and assisted with their advice as well. This community never ceases to amaze and impress me with the like minded love and appreciation for these aircraft and the attention to detail. I must say I am a little embarrassed the Sierra show I put on display for everyone to see was actually my terrible piloting skills. Improved landings to come! @Reflected Thanks for the great video brother! This one I think probably helped a lot of people who are trying to land the old girl right.

Outstanding find! I will adopt the above. Been using a mission that I created on the new WW2 Marianas. I have not tried on the training one yet. Going to give it another shot later. Maybe it is me, but from my external view, I was on the deck and dragging the hook across all the way to the end and did not grab anything. Going to keep at it. Really appreciate the above, I will go watch the video and steal that screen shot of the pattern you posted.

I can now confirm the hell out of this. Did 4 flights off the deck and circled back around to land and should have caught a wire every time. All 4 flights on the Marianas WW2. Check the time stamps. I went back and got external shots on flights 1 and 2. For some odd reason, flights 3 and 4 did not save after the flight. The first 3 approaches were completed the Britt way and the 4th approach was a straight in just to see if I could float her down to a wire. No dice. Fairly confident there is an issue here. Watch my video above, I got this on landing in the Marianas from the side view on replay

Nice! Just kick starting this forum once people start getting the itch for photos and videos. Appreciate the video. Always good to see others and their experiences.

I am trying to land on the carrier now on the new WW2 Marianas map. Hit the deck at the right speed and angle I feel to trap a wire and keep missing. Have two recording of it. About to try a third time and will record again. Are you guys calling inbound before the trap? I have not done that and will try on this next attempt. I am also trying it the aforementioned way the Brits did it in the video. Works well, just cant seem to snag the wire.

Hopefully there is more attention to the Lightning now that the Pacific Campaign is underway in DCS.

This is hands down the best interview/documentary I have seen on the Corsair. 100% worth the watch start to finish. Do not cheat yourself. The last story about the British pilot that ditched in the sea and was picked up by a US submarine was worth the wait. Total honor to listen to these pilots. What I took from it for DCS corsair on the landing is this. Best approach in the Corsair on a carrier is the turning approach. As your wings are coming level with the ship, you should be pretty much one wheel or both close to the deck. When wings level cut the throttle completely. Sounds like a 3-point landing almost. Touch down speed from what the pilots said was 88 to 90 knots. Through a little research total speed over the deck was 28 to 30 knots (need to adjust this in the mission editor. I find a balance between wind speed and Essex Speed). Something I want to try is lifting the tail on takeoff with the brakes applied as stated in the video. Highly recommend listening to these pilots and trying this out in DCS. I will do the same and post a video here. Something else I noticed in the footage was it appeared most Corsairs on deck were launching with cowl flaps closed. I will try this a keep an eye on the temps. Looked like they all had them open on landing. I assume this helps with two things, reducing speed and heat. The other thing I noticed in the footage was on what appeared to be on the break, they were already in full landing configuration with flap, gear, hook down. Not sure if these were wave offs in the video or the proper approach. A lot of good stuff in that video. Look forward to hearing the comments on it.

Here is one of the best reference videos I have ever seen landing the Corsair on carriers narrated from the British pilots who flew her. Going to use this as a guide to start landing her in DCS. Highly recommend the watch. Great footage.

Hoping they hit you guys up! They need your team to get this bird fully operational. Absolutely missed the mark on the sounds. Hope they take you up on your offer.

Looking forward to you being back in the cockpit again with the boys Kandy. I can tell you from seizing the engine 3 times today, watch the temperature!

It pains me to say MSFS pulled the sounds off better than M3LLC. This was a video a shot over a year ago on MSFS with the Milviz (Blackbird Simulations) Corsair. I really hope Magnitude teams up with Echo 19. They totally missed the mark and did not even come close to the whistling noise she made in a dive, hence Whistling Death.
-
Might as well get this thread started. Post your screens and videos here. Someone had to do this on release day so I threw something together real quick.

I could not agree more. I grew up in and around 6 of these beautiful girls. Magnitude knocked everything out of the park except for the engine sounds. They need some work for sure. I hate to compare them to Black Bird simulations Corsair in MSFS, but they hit the mark a lot closer. I hope Magnitude teams up with Echo 19 to get the sounds right on the old girl. This should be priority. They totally missed the mark on the whistling death.

Respect Kandy! Just glad to still be flying with you. Someday, we will have a real Vietnam map and a load of aircraft to go with it. On another note, I saw and update that acknowledged the Marianas map not being optimized very well at all and the new free map coming out for WW2 plans to increase optimization over 20%. I am hoping to see this same optimization applied to the current Marianas map. The more we added to bring Vietnam to DCS, the more we battled with performance as well. I look forward to the day when ED makes the Vietnam map they have spoken about. Thanks for all the hard work Kandy! Looking forward to our future DCS endeavors and getting back in the saddle with the Hornet.......and cough cough........The Corsair.

I need to try the door gunners again. I dont think I have really messed with it for a while now. That will give me and the boys something to try here soon.

LMFAO!!!! I did get a sunrise shot of you looking like you were hooked up. I left the NODs off on purpose. LOL. Don't worry everyone, once I convince Kandy ride the old girl again, he will be hooked. Hopefully Polychop does not disappoint us again before then.

@CrimzN Hey my friend, talking to Kandy about wrapping up the campaign. We have started a Hornet Campaign in Afghanistan. Started a thread on it today. I would like to finish up Silent Thunder, however we have been out of the Kiowa for some time. I am starting to draft the last mission and will work towards fitting in hopefully sooner than later. Just wanted those of you who followed this campaign to know it has not been forgotten.

After making our Kiowa Coop campaign (need to finish the last mission. OH-58D MP/SP Campaign: Silent Thunder -- Mission 01: Prey [v1.01 - August 18, 2024]), we decided it was time to jump back into the Hornet and take the fight to Afghanistan. We have a tentative path to the campaign and the direction we are going with the content. As a group of guys whose primary hobby is DCS, we have always felt there is a lack of coop campaigns to play as a team. We decided to change that and make our own. Our talented developer has done everything from custom knee boards and a PDF briefing with images, to custom voice overs and triggers. We are trying to get the campaign as close to historically accurate for the 2010 time period in Afghanistan and what mission might have been. Each mission accommodates up to 3-4 players and is scaled based on how many players are actually playing. We wanted this to be a solo campaign if you have no friends to fly with, but it is intended for Coop. This first mission below was a night op. Reacclimating to using the ground radar and finding targets was a little challenging at first. It has been a while. We had to fly it twice to get it right. Kandy will have to correct me on this one, but I believe a second group was added to provide a target for the other players to locate. This really challenges you out the gate if you have not used the ground radar or GMT in a while. Night vision is equipped if you prefer to use it, but it is not so handy in this operation. SPOILER ALERT: If you have flown our Kiowa campaign and want the missions to be a surprise, do not watch the videos.

Been tracking your progress from the start team. Cannot wait for this big, beautiful girl to be brought to DCS. It should be a massive honor to bring the first Large bomber to the crowd. Saw the video below and thought I would share. Awesome flyby of the Lancaster. Looks recent to.

Finally getting back after it. Feels good to be back in the cockpit again.

Afternoon team! Looks like the ITJ boys are finally back to flying. We look forward to flying ITJ a little more here soon. Getting back into the rhythm. The Hornet has called us back to the nest so do not be surprised if you see some F-18 videos popping up a little more than ITJ right now. @ViolentNomadWaiting on the Cobra brother!!!!!! Cannot wait to get her into the jungle. Hope everything is moving along well with its production. We will also be keeping our eye on the upcoming F-104 and F-100 to add. More to come down the line, but its good to be back flying again in DCS.

Will there be any updates to Nedava ?
Devil 505 replied to Raviar's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Trying not to kick the hornets nest hear so pulling in the experts, but I thought WAGS mentioned recently the NTTR map was in the pipeline for a future update, just no details or time frame yet. Can anyone from ED confirm this so I am not spreading false hope. Pretty sure I heard that though in one of the many ED interviews I watched. @Wags @BIGNEWY @NineLine If I am not imaging this, could you possibly expand on what might be considered for the expansion.
