  1. I am another soon to be ex oculus user, me and a mate both got the Rift last year, playing DCS or driving sims, just call each other through Oculus home and we were away. That was stopped due to not having a facebook account, and now it is going to get worse. I am happy that DCS is going along nicely with the updates and I have similar if not better FPS to pre 256 now. This means the money I was going to spend on a CPU, MOBO and Memory can now go on a G2.
  2. Another poster has been putting a bottle neck calculator in a few upgrade threads, so I gave it a go and @ 1440P it says my 3770k is bottle necking my 2080 14% and at 4K it is 7%. So I am trying to figure out if the Rift res can be equated to 1440P or 4K.
  3. Try it with PD under the VR in-game tab @ 1.5 and turn SS in tray tool back to 0, and pre rendered frames back to 1 in nvidia panel. Infact turn nvidia panel back to defaults and just change to use maximum power.
  4. I have a 27" 144Hz 1080P monitor that I used for DCS world with a GTX 970. I decided one day to hook up a 46" 1080P TV and it blew me away with the clarity and just being able to see much more. So the bigger the better and 1080P was great at 46" so it should be great at 32". I went the other way though, I was going to get a bigger monitor after using the 46" TV but I went VR instead as the Rift was probably the same price as buying a decent 1440P 32" monitor, and the rift worked pretty good on a GTX 970 and probably even better now the updates are making DCS better. if I did go the monitor route though I would have gone for a 32" 1440P as you can always knock it back to 1080P if your card is not powerful enough.
  5. I have been waiting to upgrade for a while, my mate got a 9900K and a Aorus master Mobo, too expensive for my taste so I waited until the 10th gen cpu and Z490 boards came out. Now the 10th gen has come out I am not that impressed over the 9th gen. The 10600K is a cracker but only 6 cores, the 10700K is a great cpu but I don't like the 125W TDP as I think I will be pushing it with a 650 PSU. Plus the Z490 boards IMO are way overpriced. So now I am back to the 9900K/F which has dropped in price to be comparable with the 10700K. The Z390 Aorus pro, looking at bench marks, is slightly faster than the Z390 Aorus master whilst being around £80 cheaper. So the next big thing might be fantastic, but we can put off buying forever waiting for the next big thing. So my next upgrade will be a 9900K/F and a decent Z390 Mobo.
  6. I still use the pinky toggle switch on the side of the left throttle for the lights, its the pinky lever on the base of the joystick that I use as a modifier. It just allows me to be able to use every button and switch twice. The speed brake is still the speed brake, but when I press the joy 4 button on the joystick, I can bind the speed brake as another action as well as the speed brake as long as joy button 4 is pressed. Example I use the mic switch for comms, but when I press Joy 4 the mic switch then becomes my kneeboard.
  7. I just used a random picture from google, but I found the source, it is from another member on here, I now know it is for the AV8B, but it explains in the picture where I got the SS from. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=197608 The ss stands for sensor select and as you can see the 3 is FWD and 5 is AFT. With the A10-C I use button 4 (the pinkie lever) on the joystick as a modifier and use speed break aft to get the comms up. In the F18 I use the same modifier and speed break aft to get the comms up whilst on the ground, and whilst in the air I use the mic switch FWD and AFT (no modifier) for comm 1 and 2 respectively. I just went into the control settings for the F18 (sim) and bound them and I have had no problems. Yes I am using the Warthog throttle.
  8. Just the comms that come with DCS world mate, so probably not the answer you were looking for, I don't use voice attack or SRS.
  9. I use the mic switch, SS forward (3)for COMM 1 and SS AFT (5) for COMM 2. Works ok for me.
  10. Scrub that, I just put the HOTAS back in and it made no difference, still wont go to sleep regardless if HAGS is on or off.
  11. Sorry mate, the new hardware accelerated gpu scheduling.
  12. I saw a post a few days ago about Windows not going into sleep mode when the Warthog HOTAS was plugged in, (I cant remember which section the post was in) I was also having the same problem. At the moment though I have my G29 plugged in as I fancied a bit of car racing. Anyway I have found that when HAGS is off, my computer wont go to sleep with the G29 but when HAGS is on, my computer will go to sleep. So maybe the case with the HOG stick too.
  13. I got a great performance boost after the patch, 22FPS online in the Rift up to 45 with a few minor drops. Tried yesterday and the FPS has dropped to low to mid 30's. Even when I am in the menu the FPS has dropped from 90 to 45. I saw a post by BIGNEWY mentioning that the new WIN 10 update had a negative effect on his system, but he managed to fix it. So I am guessing the new WIN 10 update has borked the latest DCS update for a few people.
  14. Well done vertigo, you have finally found someone to pick up a pitchfork and join you on your witch hunt.
  15. Doesn't make sense to me either, we have one person who seems to dislike every aspect of the game and the company, and assassinates them as much as he can, any chance he can, then suspiciously a new user posts 2 posts with exactly the same argument about the training doesn't wait for any help, spits his dummy and leaves. I have spent hours and hours looking at manuals and videos, as I am sure have most people here who want to master the aircrafts of their choice. As for the difficult "mapping controls" watch the training videos, wait till the instructor says press for example left CNTRL L, pause the game, go to control settings, press left CNTRL L see what is highlighted, bind to a switch on your HOTAS which is comfortable for you. job done.
  16. Stick with it scat, if you are prepared to put in some time and are willing to read and watch a few youtube videos then I am sure being a furloughed pilot you will be flying and bombing in no time.
  17. Great news Checkmate, happy flying.
  18. Some Vertigo quotes I stumbled upon whilst reading a different thread. "without spending half their monthly salary" "the already tiny inflow of new players" "if you wonder why they keep having those 50% sales.. its usually a pretty good sign that they arent selling enough" "I desperately want to fly combat jets with the Fs2020 terrain, graphics and weather engine" "ED should try do the same. They definitely have some unique knowledge and experience, but making terrain and weather engines is not one of them". "and give them more financial incentive to do what users want most, which may not be yet another new plane or map, but improving the content we already have". "But its quite expensive for someone just getting in to it, who may give up after a few hours of training, or finds out he doesnt like the game or doesnt like a particular module. And for anyone comparing it to FS2020 which gives them a dozen high fidelity planes and the entire world map, including their home town and local airport in glorious detail vs 1 or 3 planes and a tiny little map of a region they never even heard of and cant pronounce". So you think the training is not up to par, you think the modules and terrains are too expensive, not very well made and too small. You think ED have no knowledge and experience of making terrain and weather engines, you think ED is in it just for the money and not to be proud of what they have accomplished, you say they are a boutique flight sim company...…. I could go on but I think everyone gets it, best thing to do mate is get back under your bridge.
  19. Checkmate, have you got a TV lying around that you could hook up or borrow a monitor off a mate ?
  20. That ship sailed about 18 pages ago. There is nothing wrong with the setup as it is.
  21. Lately playing online with the Rift I was averaging 22 FPS, MSAA 2X, AA 8X, preload 12000, after this latest patch MSAA 4X, AA 16X, 15000 preload and getting 45 FPS with very few dips. This is great, I can enjoy flying again.
  22. Either that or close it as Vertigo has lost the plot completely, he is just arguing now for arguing's sake, it is getting embarrassing.
  23. Just to add, if I was a new player and I saw this thread and how the OP keeps referring to new players as "Noobs" I would think what kind of egotistical assho**** play this game, and I would probably never come back to this forum or play online. "In internet slang, noobs are hapless, unskilled beginners who don’t know what they are doing. As far as gamers are concerned, a noob is a nothing more than an easy kill—or a real nuisance as a teammate". So vertigo, you are more likely to stop new players trying DCS not the learning curve.
  24. Just had a quick scan through this thread again and in one post checkmate you mentioned your monitor had a USB plug and you weren't sure why, I would say it is just a pass through USB, so you plug the monitor USB into your tower, which then enables a female USB port on your monitor so you can plug a USB device into your monitor just for ease of use.
  25. When I decided to stop being lazy and learn the A10-C after around 3 years of just flying around a couple of times a year, it took me all of 3 hours one Saturday afternoon of doing the weapons training and watching a few videos, the next day I was on multi player servers bombing and hitting everything at over 20,000 feet. DCS has everything you need to learn to fly whichever plane you want, you just have to want to learn how to.
