  1. I have George bound to my hat switch when I am piloting, I have my right MPD as video targetting (I am not up with all the correct terminology) so on the right MPD, right bottom for vid, then right top for tads, then top right for tads. Hat switch up to laser the target, then a list appears of targets, then select target going up or down the list, press right to lock the target, then the target should appear on right MPD with the cross hairs over it. Before you right press you can go up and down the list of targets and you can see the cross hairs move from target to target, so you can chose one in the open. Then when you are in range press the fire button and hopefully you get a shot off. So in short, with the Right MPD on vids you can see if you are locked on a target, or if the cross hairs have lost the target and just moving with the flight of the Apache.
  2. Thanks for the replies, time to bind my Manual release.
  3. I don't know if this is how its meant to be but when on a online server and 2 or 3 Apaches are attacking the same target, my flares dispense when friendly Apaches are firing Hellfires at the enemy, and the friendly Apaches dispense flares when I fire my Hellfires. I haven't gotten around to binding a manual CMS release yet so I just use Auto. Can the Apache not differentiate between enemy Sam's ect and friendly Hellfires in real life or is this still a work in progress? Thanks for reading.
  4. Thanks to 4YA servers for having an Apache only server, and some great missions. I went on last night and did the destroy mortar team mission, flying west at night checking the map for roads and towns, and checking for trees around the area so I can hit he deck when the AAA spot me. Slaving, slaving bingo a target, consent to fire and boom, Blue on Blue, only a humvee though, don't think there was anyone in it. Check the map again, I just attacked the friendly base where the mortars are attacking, I guess I can blame the mortars for the Humvee and hope no one saw me do it, so onto the real target, a couple AA a few trucks and some infantry. Flicked on the Auto CMS just in time as I looked to the right out of my cockpit a white streak came at me and just missed my rotor, I flew down into the trees and doubled back, got a bit of height, slaving, AAA target, fire and boom. One down, and another. Saw explosions at the friendly base as the mortars were raining down. Nothing else firing at me so switch to the canon do a couple of straifs mop up the stragglers and mission complete. Flew over the friendly base and did a few barrel rolls and onto the next mission. Got to love the Apache.

  5. That's great that it works better for you both, unfortunately I have had to disable both DLSS and FSR in ACC and just run with my previous settings I used before. Roll on the Deca Gear headset later this year, the Rift has served me well but I cant wait for a bit more clarity in a newer headset.
  6. DLSS has come to Assetto Corsa Competizione and it is very poor in VR, so is FSR, I have tried every setting in ACC for DLSS and FSR and in VR it is just a blurry mess, yes you can get more FPS with higher settings, but it looks crap. Just my 2 cents.
  7. This might help you a bit RackMonkey, a previous thread, similar to your question which might give you some answers. Is it useful to go from 8600k to 5600x or more for DCS VR ? - Virtual Reality - ED Forums (eagle.ru)
  8. Thanks for the replies, I seem to have fixed it, I had a look through the logs to see if I could see anything before I posted them and at the bottom it was showing input as my G29 wheel and pedals as I was playing ACC until the clouds were fixed. I unplugged my wheel and pedals started DCS and it loaded straight away. Edit Plugged my G29 back in and DCS doesn't load again. Its strange because in the past after I update DCS I am positive the game started regardless of which controller I had plugged in, but I can now play DCS again, thanks again. EDIT 2 DCS loads a lot quicker now too after the latest update
  9. I have encountered a new problem, ever since 2.7 when I start DCS world I get the splash screen on the monitor and on the taskbar I see the DCS world tab and it is going green from left to right and it says loading...., this would last about 20 to 30 seconds then DCS would kick in and I could play. I just downloaded the latest update and now the tab on the taskbar is going green from left to right saying loading... but it stays like this and DCS never starts. One thing I have noticed is that when I alt tab to the Oculus home / library, DSC world has a spinning circle and it is saying "now playing". I have never noticed this before. I start DCS world through the start menu with the DCS world open beta icon under Eagle Dynamics (pinned to the start menu). I am leaning toward a Oculus update for why this is happening, when I click on edit on the DCS icon in Oculus it says launch options. "D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin/DCS.exe", I have never entered this into the launch options as I have never started DCS from the Oculus home. 15 minutes now and the DCS tab on the task bar is still saying loading. Thanks for reading
  10. So two years ago I was contemplating to build a new computer or just swap my 970 for a 2080 for DCS world, I opted for the 2080 and saw a huge boost in performance. 2 weeks ago I finally built a new rig going from a 3770K and 16 gig 1600 memory to a 9900k and 32 gig 3600 memory. Here is what I noticed, DCS world there is no difference at all as far as I can tell between my old rig and my new rig, single player. multi player both to my eyes play exactly the same. On the other hand, I also play Assetto Corsa Competizione, my old rig would struggle on low settings and look like I had been poked in both eyes with a stick, dropping to low 20's frame rate. Now my new rig I have everything on high and ultra and am hitting 90 FPS around the track with an occasional drop to high 70's. So if you only play DCS world, then IMO the CPU doesn't matter, as I said going from a 9 year old 3770k to a 9900k shows no difference, but if you also play other games, then the CPU upgrade is a must.
  11. Specs on the Decagear look pretty good but unless the site I was looking at have got it wrong, it doesn't have a microphone.
  12. I used to upgrade my PC every two or three years, my first PC was a DX2-66 back in the mid 90's, I have had my current PC since 2012 (apart from my GFX card, I went from a 970 to a 2080) so 9 years since I last upgraded, I only play VR games now and this PC still does the job. I paid around £350 for the 3770K and £200 for the ROG MVF, so the CPU's are still relatively comparable, but to get a MXIIF, it is around £470 which I refuse to pay. So as long as this PC still plays VR games with high settings and great frame rates then I wont be upgrading for a long while. I would say the only way I would upgrade in the near future is if this one stops working.
  13. For me VR was a plug and play decision, maybe because I bought a Oculus Rift, I was playing DCS, ARMA 3, Elite dangerous with a Track IR. Thought about getting a bigger monitor then remembered about VR. Saw the price for the Rift was cheaper than the monitors I was looking at and bought one. Installed Oculus Home, fired up DCS world, set the VR button and started playing. I have had my Rift for maybe 2 years and in total, spent less than 2 hours pratting about with settings, mainly when a new patch comes out to see if I can set things higher. I am running a 9 year old computer with a newish GFX card, MSAA 4X, AA 16X, PD 1.6, Ultra View, 150000 pre load and I never drop below 45 FPS. So VR is easier than you might be thinking it is Allentc2. Edit, You also don't need the latest and greatest PC to run it either.
  14. I can only answer number 3 for you, if you prefer air to ground , then IMO the A10-C as it has more weapon stations. It takes longer to get to the mission but you don't have to RTB to re arm as often, I will load up with around 14 GBU 12's and just drop single bombs. So a few hours gameplay and you only have to re arm once. Flying above 20,000 and hitting every target with pin point accuracy is something I never get bored of. The learning curve is pretty steep but once you know which button action to use for what action you need is rewarding. I recently got the A10-CII so I am learning the new HMCS which looks great as I fly with a friend and he can never find the targets, so he ends up just flying around for 3 hours, but now I can lock up the targets and send the information to him so he can then see the targets on his MFD. I never flew with the A10-A as I bought the C version the same time as I bought FC3, so I mixed between the SU-27/33 and the A-10C. I have the F-18 and I enjoy flying it too but I always come back to the Hog.
  15. I found the fix to my OOF problem was to untick auto hide taskbar
  16. Great work on the new patch ED, for me it has made a big difference. I have kept my 16X AA and 4X MSAA and even upped my PD from 1.5 to 1.6 which has reduced the shimmering even more. With the Spitfire on Normandy the ground stutter has gone when flying over the tree tops and like the Spitfire on Normandy, both the F-18 and A-10CII on the PG map the FPS doesn't drop below 45 and as soon as I am over the water the FPS shoots up to 90.
  17. If you are upgrading for better visual quality then I would go for the G2, the 2080 is capable enough to run it. If you go for the 3080 then it will not make a difference to the visual quality of the G1. You might be able to up a few settings in DCS but it is still the same headset. You probably wont be able to get the G2 until December anyway, so it gives you a bit more time to save to get you closer the 3080 down the road mate. That's just my line of thought, and the way I am probably going to go.
  18. I had a bad gateway error first time I tried to download, second time it downloaded fine. The servers must be screaming with everybody trying to download it. It might have missed a couple of files for you mate.
  19. Deleted, thread title changed so reply was off topic
  20. Thanks for the link reece146, just for the record I have no interest in a 30 series card. I guess the title came about because that is the card in the Toms hardware review, so sorry everyone for any confusion. A few weeks ago I got a mate with the same 2080 as mine (mine has a slightly faster factory overclock) and the Rift. He went from a i5 4690 to a 9900K, Aorus Master and 32 ram @ 3200 a few months back. So we set all the settings in DCS identical but he liked his 1.8 DP so I said leave it then as your rig should be able to handle it. So my DP is at 1.5 and we went on the same multi player server. Set up the Hornet and started down the taxi way. I was getting a solid 45 FPS. I asked what he was getting and he said 34FPS. He switched to 1.5 DP and went up to a solid 45 FPS. I have been chomping at the bit for a upgrade for ages now, and if I still played non VR games I would have upgraded last year probably, but I think I am going to hold on until the new reverb comes out and see what the reviews are like and get that instead. I will probably need a upgrade in the not too distant future if I get the Reverb G2.
  21. This is another benchmark I saw a few months back, unfortunately there is only one 4K benchmark @ 2.07. I am not saying that you should adhere to these as it's your choice, I am only giving people what Krupi said "food for thought". Also in the first Toms hardware review I posted in my opening post, it is also worth noting the 4770K is the only set up with 16gig memory. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=3770k+vs+9700k&&view=detail&mid=919F36D9629976E47936919F36D9629976E47936&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3D3770k%2Bvs%2B9700k%26FORM%3DHDRSC3
  22. I have been researching lately how much my 3770K is bottlenecking my 2080 in VR and have come to the conclusion, that if it is, it is only by a small percent so its not worth shelling out hundreds for a new mobo. cpu and memory. Here is a review for everybody who is in a similar position as me, wondering if a CPU upgrade is worth it for a "gaming only" PC in VR or 4K. https://www.tomshardware.com/uk/features/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ampere-cpu-scaling-benchmarks
  23. Respect to the Germans https://www.techpowerup.com/271764/facebook-technologies-stops-sales-of-oculus-vr-headset-in-germany
  24. I have noticed the opposite, I am getting a steady 45 FPS on high populated servers for the first time since the 2.5.6 update, I have even set my view distance to ultra which I have never been able to do before. The rest on high apart from medium water, and shadows off. 16X AA 4X MSAA and a PD of 1.5. Maybe the older hardware likes the updates better.
  25. Let me try this again so I don't sound like a complete idiot, I only play games in VR, DCS, ACC, Elite Dangerous AMS2, I don't play any games on my monitor anymore. So I did the bottleneck calculator and I have also watched 2 benchmarking videos of a 10700K vs a 3770K with a 1080ti. At 1080P the difference is huge in FPS because of the 3770K bottlenecking the 1080ti but at 4K the difference is minimal because of the 1080ti bottlenecking the 10700K, the 10700K @ 4k is 73FPS and the 3770K @ 4K is 71 FPS. So playing in VR, and if VR is more resource hungry than 4K, then if I upgrade to a 9th or 10th gen intel then my VR experience would be around the same because the 2080 will be bottlenecking the 9th-10th gen CPU and bringing it down to the FPS level of my 3770K. Just to add my VR experience is spot on in all the games I play, a steady 45 FPS in DCS in high populated servers, 90 FPS constant on AMS 2, I am just trying to justify if a upgrade is actually worth it if I only play games in VR. Am I right in thinking this or am I way off the mark ?
