  1. Have you got image sharpening turned on in NVidia control panel ? if so try turning it off.
  2. I had it with, oculus, my Logitech software and blizzard, anything that is dark grey. I updated to the latest 441.66 drivers and it fixed it, so it seemed to be a problem with the NVidia driver.
  3. 31st of June or at a push the 31st of April
  4. Crap, now I will have to buy another SSD :P
  5. Hi TheSledge A lot of great advice to get you started so I thought I would share my experience with you. I started of with the Huey, A10c and FC3, and the A10c is probably my go to aircraft. The first one I learnt was the SU 27, then jumped to the SU 33 as the A10c seemed to be a bit too involved, but I wanted to bomb stuff with laser guided bombs, so with the little knowledge I had of the Hog I sat down on a Saturday afternoon, watched a few videos and now I can bomb an ant from 30,000 feet, and nothing is more satisfactory. Payload has to be light though as I need to fly higher than the SAM and Shilka ranges as I am not too good with countermeasures. I have recently bought the F-18 as I wanted to get to battle quicker, but haven't figured out how to drop bombs yet, so have been dabbling with air to air combat, but again, the countermeasure side lets me down. So I was playing on a 27 inch 144Hz monitor, which was great, but then I brought down my 46 inch tv from the bedroom and wow what a difference. So I was going to buy a 35+ inch monitor but then it hit me, get a VR Rift as they had dropped a lot in price, and believe me, the rift has completely changed my gaming experience. Good luck in your new venture and hope to see you in the skies.
  6. I just watched the Dirt rally, iracing benchmark video for the 1080ti vs 2080ti, solid 90fps on high settings on the 2080ti against 45 - 70 on the 1080 ti. If you have the money mate, go for the 2080ti, you have my blessing :) DCS VR is only going to get better with the VR and terrain updates too and TBH who wants to wait for the 30 series NVidia cards when they could be more expensive and not much greater performance.
  7. Here you go mate, a VR benchmark for the 2080 and 1080ti. https://babeltechreviews.com/the-rtx-2080-vs-the-gtx-1080-ti-in-vr-revisited/ Personally if I had a 1080ti I wouldn't have bought the 2080, but coming from a 970, the 2080 was a must for me for VR. I am on high settings, medium water and flat shadows, 1024 every frame in the cockpit, MSAA 4X, AA 16X no SSAA and a PD of 1.7 and hold a steady 45 FPS, 90 FPS when I look at a clear sky. :P
  8. Thanks LeCuvier, I guess I should have RTFM. My bad for talking about the F-18 in the FW-190A thread, I followed the link from the DCS home page and thought it was a generic comms thread.
  9. Thanks Doc, that is all I wanted to hear, the 10 USB ports on the back first drew me to the boards and I liked the benchmarks I watched since, so its good to hear another user happy with the board.
  10. I have the same problem in the F18, I can bring up the comms menu on the ground to refuel, re arm and choose a mission, but I cannot bring the comms menu up whilst in the air. So if I manage to kill the enemy plane, I have to land again to set up another mission. I have mine bound to joy 4 (the pinky lever on the joystick) plus the top thumb switch on the throttle, (the one that works the speed break). Just to add, I have the same setup in the Hog and it works flawlessly.
  11. I wont buy AMD, I have been building computers for over 20 years and the only part that has ever failed me was the only ATI/AMD part I bought, a HD 4870. I did contemplate a 3700X when they were first talked about but that didn't last long. Anyway thanks for the reply, my current rig is still kicking butt, so I might wait and see when the 10 series comes out if the 9900k drops in price.
  12. I am flying with a CV1, and TBH when flying the A10C with the new cockpit, my game seems smoother.
  13. Anyone here using a Gigabyte Aorus pro/elite with a 9700K, the last 2 mobo's I have had are Asus, a Rampage Formula and at the moment a Maximus V Formula. I am looking to upgrade to the above mobo (Pro version) and CPU plus 32 gig 3200 memory. I have been looking at benchmarks and the gigabyte pro/elite seems to have the best VRM and thermals to reduce CPU throttling, (not too keen on the BIOS though) The 9700K is within a few FPS of the 9900K but after watching benchmarks the 9900K having H/T, it seems to run cooler and is about 30% less usage in the same scenarios, but saving £150 I can live with that as the only non gaming thing I do on my PC is photo editing I am not keen on spending ASUS prices this time when I have read they have been cheaping out on components. I know this is DCS world forum, but I cant be bothered asking on OCUK as all you get on there is "why buy a 9700K when a 3700X is cheaper"
  14. Thanks for the reply BIGNEWY, it probably is the bind as the same inputs have been changed to the same new inputs on all the aircraft. One example, F10 theatre map, was input to Joy 4 as modifier and throttle 8, which changed to throttle 13 no modifier.
  15. I haven't played in maybe a month as I was waiting until I got a new Graphics card, finally got a bit of time tonight to try out the new card and some of my inputs have changed. Is this to do with updates changing inputs ?
  16. About 7 pages back silentbob, I advised a gpu rather than a cpu, so after 16 pages of good and bad advice I can set you straight. I was told a GPU upgrade with my 7+ year old 3770K, I would not notice any difference. Sitting on the runway on the free flight Huey Persian gulf map Overclocked GTX 970, everything on low, no eye candy, PD of 1.2, 2xAA I was getting 22 FPS. Stock 2080 everything on high, PD of 1.5, 16xAA, 4xMSAA 2xSSAA, visib range ultra, I am getting 45 FPS. So to answer you opening question, a GPU
  17. I have the Rift CV1 and I have never been able to launch DCS through the oculus library. Saying that I have never been able to launch any 3rd party games through the oculus library.
  18. Has anyone tried the 5700XT in VR yet, I cant find any benchmarks apart from a French site, it shows graphs that says in the VRMark Cyan room the 5700xt is slightly slower than a 2070S and in the VRMark Blue room the 5700XT is slower than a 2060S. No clue what the cyan and blue rooms are. http://www.comptoir-hardware.com/articles/cartes-graphiques/39283-test-amd-rx-5700-xt-a-rx-5700.html?start=17
  19. I have all ways had Intel CPU and MOBO and apart from the HD4870, all ways Nvidia cards, but this time it looks like I am going AMD all the way, maybe wait for the Black Friday sales for either a 3700X or 3800X and MOBO, but I have a £50 Amazon voucher so will wait until they get stock of the 5700XT as there is a 1 to 2 month lead time at the minute :(
  20. Just watched a you tube where there is a new mod for the 5700XT which makes it as fast as a Radeon VII.
  21. That's all I have seemed to have been doing for the last 5 months mxpower76, looking at reviews and benchmarks :(, I can play DCS VR with my 970, @ a steady 45 fps on low and medium with 2xAA, but I want to know how much better it will be with a better card, I bought the rift and the only 2 games I play are DCS and ACC, and neither are the best with a 970. I have seen reviews and read on forums that the 5700XT noise and heat are not as bad as some reviewers make out. I can see the AIB 5700XT being around £450, so then I might as well get the 2070 super. Only another month to wait.
  22. Thanks Fri13, it is the 5700XT I am interested in, early next month, as you say when the AIB ones come out, I wasn't interested in the 2080, its just it was the closest to the 5700XT on that benchmark site, the 2070 super was the card I wanted but I point blank refuse to give Nvidia any of my hard earned this time around.
  23. Could someone in the know explain which of these things listed below would give me a better performance in DCS VR, AVG User Bench 2080 / 5700XT PARALEX: 490 fps / 751 fps +53% MRender: 361 fps +56% / 231 fps Gravity: 406 fps +6% / 383 fps Splatting: 235 fps / 349 fps +49% Peak OC Bench PARALEX: 579 fps / 824 fps +42% MRender: 417 fps +70% / 245 fps Gravity: 467 fps +12% / 416 fps Splatting: 265 fps / 372 fps +40% I got these off a user Benchmark site, could be true, could be false, but I am hoping the 5700XT is going to be VR friendly, as the consensus I get from the web is that Nvidia far outclass AMD for VR. Edit, Doesn't seem to want to post in order like I wrote it
  24. Bearskin

    AMD

Anyone seen any benchmarks yet for the new AMD gpu's for VR. Thinking about getting the 2070 super, but would rather save £100 and get the 5700xt.
  25. I first saw DCS on Steam years ago and I downloaded it and played the free modules, I then went to the ED website, deleted the Steam version, downloaded DCS from ED and bought my first modules in the good old days of 70% off. So Steam was good in that it brought DCS world to my attention, but I prefer to buy the Terrains and Modules straight from ED because as others have said, 100% of the money goes to ED.
