  1. Did both and it runs worse than ever on my rig, I have never had a problem with constant freezes up until now, my MSI afterburner GPU usage graph drops like a stone every 20 seconds or so.
  2. Just did the free flight in the BlackShark on PG and it is worse than it has ever been. Game is freezing for a split second every 21 seconds, FPS is up and down like a yoyo, 45, 29, 40, 25, 45 33. The good news is the shimmering has gone. See you after the next patch.
  3. Hey egirgin, I tried the auto OC with afterburner when I first got my card but the overclock it gave me was nothing to write home about. 15% on your card though, that's great.
  4. Installed the 445.87 driver, see how it goes before the new DCS update comes out.
  5. 445.87 driver out yesterday, I have downloaded it but not installed it yet.
  6. Yes Derneuemann, I have tried with a +100 OC and it still freezes, I have used +160 in other non VR games, so +130 seems to be a nice OC, it makes a difference in ACC to playing high VR settings with 24 cars on track to having to play low VR settings with no Overclock. Der Hirte, thanks for your input on downclocking to avert the green screens, I will just have to leave my card as stock when playing DCS, hopefully the update today will get me back close to 45 FPS in multi player servers rather than the low 20's I am seeing.
  7. No mate, all the videos I have watched mention that the voltage slider doesn't do much on the 2080, so just to leave it alone. Just to mention, I have overclocked all my previous GFX cards but said to myself I wouldn't clock the 2080 as it is quick enough for what I need, but with the state of DCS world in VR at the moment, I am trying anything so I can start flying again.
  8. For some reason DCS doesn't like my overclock, +130 on the core and +300 on the memory. Every other VR game I have, Il2, ACC. PC2, Elite Dangerous, Automobilista 2, all of these play nice with the overclock, but DCS world crashes/freezes within a minute. Just had a google and found this https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=211819 Anyone had success with an overclocked 2080 ?
  9. I know exactly how you feel Burt, my first computer was back in the early to mid 90's when you had to start Windows (3.1) through a program called DOS (6.22) a black screen with a flashing cursor. You had to type something like Format c: /s/u to clear your hard drive of all files and make it like new again, c for your c drive, s to make it a system disk and u for unconditional format. So if your computer was stuffing up, you could format it and put everything back on again. I typed in Format c: /s/u and just sat staring at the screen for about 2 hours as I didn't want to hit the enter key as I didn't know if I would be able to get it back up and running again. I ended up pressing enter wiping the disk and reloading everything. Back then though it only took about 2 hours to get everything back up and running, whereas now it takes about 2 days. Anyway mate, good luck and whatever you feel comfortable doing.
  10. This is a long winded process, but I prefer it to using 3rd party software. Unplug your ethernet from the back of your PC or your router but make sure you have downloaded the nvidia driver you want to use before unplugging the ethernet cable Go into control panel > Programmes and Features > Delete the Nvidia GFX driver Restart as prompted, Delete Nvidia Physx > delete Nvidia HD audio driver Restart as prompted Go into File Explorer on your task bar and click on your C drive, Delete all Nvidia folders in Program files, Program files (X86), Program data and any you find in user/name/appdata/local. Right click the windows logo on your taskbar and click Run, type in "regedit" Click Hkey current user > software and delete the nvidia corporation folder (sometimes there isn't one to delete) Click Hkey local machine > software and delete nvidia corporation folder, then click wow64node and delete nvidia corporation folder. Install the new driver, it will say it cant be verified as you are not connected to the internet, click run anyway, chose clean install and install the driver. Plug your ethernet cable back in when the driver has completely installed and you are good to go. The reason for unplugging the ethernet cable is because unless you have gone into windows updates and chose to defer installing new updates, then it will automatically install an old nvidia driver.
  11. I am getting fed up to the back teeth of coming onto the forums and reading about a subscription based DCS world, if all these people that want a pay monthly deal so badly, then just give ED your $10 a month, be altruistic and stop bothering the rest of us.
  12. This happened to me a few years back, I just started DCS, went into the module manager, logged out, then logged back in and all modules appeared. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=193072
  13. Quadg, you are a star mate. Moved the task bar up to the side and so far no more OOF messages.
  14. Cursor confined is checked, I just tried it and it is the worst it has been, multiplayer server screen, clicking exit, maybe a dozen times the windows OOF message came up even when I was looking directly at the exit button, eventually it worked and I could exit. I tried with the cursor unchecked and the same thing, maybe 10-15 clicks and windows OOF every time. Might be time for a re install and hopefully that fixes it. Lost count of the times I have hit the deck strafing because the OOF message appears and no inputs work but the game carries on.
  15. I finally got around to playing PC2 in VR, the first game I have played in VR since the windows OOF message appeared in DCS as I didn't know if it was DCS or Oculus. I didn't get the OOF message in PC2. I have only seen this mentioned 3 times, twice on these forums and once on Steam DCS problem forums, also my mate said he was getting it so it must not be a common problem. Edit: No windows is out of focus on ACC either.
  16. I have had to stop playing DCS as this OOF is ruining the gameplay mate. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=265111
  17. Thanks Holton, it was pointing at 12 oclock straight up, usually it is pointing forward when I turn it on so it just threw me.
  18. Don't know what they call the middle screen where you see, zoom in and lock up enemies, but I cant seem to get it to work after the latest update. It is on but it is just grey with no image, the targeting square is there and the lines across the middle and left hand side, but no image. I am using it exactly the same as yesterday so hopefully I am not overlooking anything. Edit, Just tried in offline mode and it is working, so probably something I am missing.
  19. Have you got any other gaming hardware plugged in ?
  20. Thanks again for the reply rrhode, the only programs I have open when DCS is open are, MSI afterburner and oculus home, both are minimised to the task bar, so the only thing showing on my monitor is the DCS windowed / mirrored screen which uses the middle third of my monitor. Never seen this message before in the 7+ years I have been playing DCS. Edit, Thinking back one thing that triggers the out of focus message is when I am in the hornet and I go to flick the FLIR switch, if I glance down to the switch and the switch is in the bottom say 20% of my vision and I press the mouse button to flick the switch, the mouse white cross disappears and the out of focus message comes on but if I look further back so the FLIR switch is in the middle of my vision, and I flick the switch, then everything carries on as normal. Edit2 So after testing this anything I click on that is on the outer edge of my vision (out of the sweet spot) causes the OOF message.
  21. I am getting this "Window is out of focus" message in orange writing at the top of the screen since the last major update, using the OB version with a Rift in VR. When it appears I have no input controls the only thing that works is the mouse. Clicking the mouse anywhere on the screen clears the message and everything works again. There is no pattern to it appearing, it can appear in the online server page, whilst taxiing to the runway, on a bombing run or doing training missions in single player, 1 minute or 1 hour into game time, once a night or 6 or 7 times in a night. The game still carries on when it appears but the throttle, joystick and pedals act as if they are not plugged in. I have tried ticking the full screen, unticking the full screen and changed monitor res in the options to see if it stops the message but unfortunately it doesn't. I was online with a mate last night and he said he was getting it too so I thought it was just online but I was getting the message today whilst training in the Blackshark. Its not a big deal as mouse clicking onscreen fixes it for a while but just wondering if anyone else has experienced it.
  22. I noticed that too. I personally would turn the CPU cooler anti clockwise 90 degrees so the fan is facing the front. Edit, Just noticed you already mentioned this Bitmaster
  23. Thanks rrohde
  24. Anybody else getting "window is out of focus" in orange writing on the multiplayer sever screen ? Maybe something I am overlooking ? Edit, playing in VR
  25. I don't think you will miss the extra cores Ratfink, if I was buying today I would more than likely go for the exact setup you went for. In 5 years time it will be time to upgrade again anyway.
