Doing the firewall jazz now. So, which ports do I need to open - 5160 or 25070? Should they be inbound or outbound? TCP or UDP? There are many variables to consider.

Hey folks Long-time DCS player here, currently flying the Tomcat with a milsim unit. However, I'd like to get into a WW2 co-op campaign with a mate. We need to buy all the planes, map and asset pack required, so would someone mind pointing me to some good co-op campaigns?

My PC's IP is definitely 192.168.1.101, as you can see from the ipconfig command. What port should I open? Does the Windows firewall normally block this port? I'm also using Bitdefender, which is new to me - can't see a way to open individual ports, it can only give permission to apps. And I've given DCS permission. Was my export.lua file correct?
-
And here's a screenshot showing my device IPs (PC and 3 x tablets), as well as my config and export file contents:

Just did a full reformat/reinstall of Windows, and had to reinstall DCS and my apps. It looks like I've stuffed up my Export.lua file though, as DCS UFC is no longer working. Note that I have three different programs that all touch Export.lua in their own way, and they don't always work together - DCS UFC, TacView and SimShaker Aviator (haven't installed SRS yet). Here's the Export.lua contents I now have, and I'm getting zero response from DCS UFC (I've updated the app on my tablets, and run the update script. -- Data export script for DCS, version 1.2. -- Copyright © 2006-2014, Eagle Dynamics. -- See http://www.lua.org for Lua script system info -- We recommend to use the LuaSocket addon (http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/luasocket) -- to use standard network protocols in Lua scripts. -- LuaSocket 2.0 files (*.dll and *.lua) are supplied in the Scripts/LuaSocket folder -- and in the installation folder of the DCS. -- Expand the functionality of following functions for your external application needs. -- Look into Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log for this script errors, please. local lfs=require('lfs'); dofile(lfs.writedir()..[[scripts\pw-dev_script\Export.lua]]) dofile(lfs.writedir()..[[scripts\SimShaker-export-core\ExportCore.lua]]) local SimShakerlfs=require('lfs'); dofile(SimShakerlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/SimShaker.lua') local Tacviewlfs=require('lfs');dofile(Tacviewlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/TacviewGameExport.lua')

I'm using the VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle, but had the same issue with my Warthog - I have assigned a switch (which only registers as a single button press when flicked up, but no button press when in the down position) to gears up, otherwise extended. But when I flick the switch down, my gear stays up. I flick it back up, then down again, and this time it works. Happens every time, and also happens with my hook assignment. Any idea how to fix this?

Actually, the different areas work quite well at telling me exactly what is happening with the aircraft. Take the afterburners as an example - only the bottom back motors vibrate. Whereas with the wheels, it's the bottom seat motors. I'm still thinking of getting a Buttkicker though - do you know if this will work with the Simshaker software, as the sound module Andre sells appears to just be a buttkicker?

VPC MongoosT-50CM2 - Tomcat profile?
GunSlingerAUS replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in VIRPIL Controls
ahh, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining. I'm sticking to one aircraft though, the Tomcat, so for now I think I'll just use in-game controls, but when I start flying the Thunderbolt I'll look into your suggestion. -
VPC MongoosT-50CM2 - Tomcat profile?
GunSlingerAUS replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Hmmm, I prefer to keep it all in-sim where possible (though I did use JG to map the Warthog throttle's joystick to buttons). Any benefits of using JG with this throttle that I can't do in-game or via the Virpil software? -
YOU ARE THE MAN! Keep up the great work - including one more panel for the Tomcat so I can have 4 x tablets and 1 x smartphone cluttering up my desk!:joystick:

Hey folks, just received this absolute behemoth of a throttle, and it's blown my already high expectations outta the water. Wow, so many buttons, knobs, dials, hat switches, etc. Is anybody using this with the Tomcat, and has suggestions of how to map it? Note I'm using the VFX Tomcat grip, TrackIR, and MFG Crossfire pedals.
-
I think I discovered the problem - for some reason my laptop was using the same IP as the forced IP on the tablet. I'll reserve the IPs for the DCS UFC devices and see how I go.
-
Hmm, I've tried rebooting the device, and no luck. Will try rebooting the router next.

Back in the old days of early multicore CPUs it was indeed recommended to use something like CPU Lasso to do this. However, in recent years you're MUCH better off letting Windows 10 handle it. I wouldn't suggest touching it at all.

Mate, can't wait for more Tomcat loving! I'm sure the Hornet pilots are in heaven too. I've hit a new issue: I'm running 3 x tablets and a single phone, with 3 x DCS UFC and 1 x DCS AoA indexer. For some reason the smallest tablet, the E7 with IP 192.168.1.4 in the image below, is not showing responding. I tried both F-14 ACM and Warnings panels, and got zero response. I'm guessing I've screwed up my IP address somehow, but after checking several times it all looks ok?

use your TACAN to navigate to within 20nm of the boat. Get eyes on, then figure it out from there!

Thank you for looking over my screens, that fixed the problem. Once again I'm in Tomcat heaven!

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
GunSlingerAUS replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Anybody got a good Tomcat setup for use with Andre's Jetseat, no sound module? I'm finding it hard to dial in the buffeting, which is one of the most important for me. I want it to react to AoA/stalls, but I have to set it to about 15 to stop it vibrating all the time, even when in straight and level flight at 350kts. -
Hahaha, that'd be it! I swear I'm bloody dyslexic when it comes to IP addresses... no matter how many times I look at each one, I still type the wrong thing in!
-
Ok, this screenshot shows the IP addresses of my devices (3 x tablets, 1 x phone), my PC's IP address, whether they're connected to the Satellite or the Router, the contents of the config file, and the contents of the export.lua. Note that the PC is connected to the Satellite via Ethernet, while all other devices are connected via Wireless. I'm using the RBR750 kit from Netgear.
-
Dammit, I had this working perfectly... and then I installed a mesh WiFi system in my house. My devices are all now connected to the satellite device, including the PC. All IPs are static and correctly configured in the config file. I have forwarded ports 5160 and 25070 via the Router's interface, and Windows firewall. I have run the update script. I can input commands, but the app is not animating to reflect any changes. Not sure what to do, as the way this mesh works is that I all channels in my house are broadcast under a single SSD, and it's very complicated to break this feature. Any ideas?

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
GunSlingerAUS replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok, Andre emailed me a fully extracted version of the software. I can only get it the software to run if I use the compatibility troubleshooting mode, which sets it to Windows 8 mode. The chair is detected in Windows devices, but when running the motor test and massage features, nothing happens with the chair. I fired up DCS and did the F-14 freeflight quickflight, and the chair does nothing. -
My existing specs didn’t deliver a good experience with the Reverb, so I’d suggest waiting for the 3080 Ti.
