  1. Nah, he was very complimentary of the 5K+ and spoke highly of how big of a step up it was from the Odyssey that he had owned previously...but at the end of the day he prefers the big 4K TV he plays on, with the pretty picture. He will definitely be a challenging convert for the VR HMD makers, but given his desire to make the jump, perhaps Gen 3 can get him over that hurdle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. A Discord we are all a part of.
  3. It was asked for hundreds of times, but ED never did anything about it. Glad the dev here took it into his own hands [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Cool, absolutely no reason to purchase it then. Thanks for the answer, Aero. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. VR IMPROVEMENTS Thanks for posting, I had seen that. I found it odd that he went out of his way to make a YouTube video before ever even contacting Pimax customer service. That said, one broken Pimax and a bunch of production delays doesn’t really tie back to your original claim of “a number of quality issues with Pimax.” That’s one QC issue and a number of production issues. Also, interesting read for you here: https://forum.pimaxvr.com/t/apology-for-the-delays-with-kickstarter-campaign/12420 Delays in backers receiving units, despite greatly improved production rates, are due directly to a commitment to proper QA. They’ve ramped production staffing up and are struggling to do the same with the QA staff, but in order to maintain their standards, they are allowing it to be a bottleneck as they work to increase QA staffing. Pretty commendably in my opinion. Not interested in an argument, I just think Pimax gets a bad rap in some cases when people misspeak. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Any links to said horror stories? 95% of the feedback I’ve seen from those whom have received their units has been positive, at least from what I’ve read (which is quite a bit of reading). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I vote no twist Best question asked in the thread, but I have not seen a response from VKB. Aero, thoughts?
  8. Best consumer grade pedals? Slaw RX Vipers Best consumer value? MFG Crosswinds Somewhere in the middle? Thrustmasters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. When I asked Hollywood, creator of VIACOM PRO, a while ago he said he was planning to add the Tomcat Jester commands. So, VAICOMPRO + Voice Attack and you’d be good to do. No need for HB to take that extra workload on. If anything, they should support as needed to help him get it done as best as possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. VR headsets I’ve owned the Rift CV1 and now the Odyssey+. The Odyssey+ is better in every way except for the comfort of the headset. I have a Pimax 5K+ coming as well, but have not had a chance to test one out to comment. I believe, based on many reviews I’ve read/watched, that it will be the first true Gen 2 HMD though. If you can afford the hardware to drive it, it’s the way to go. Gen 1 stuff will seem clearly inferior due to the lack of FOV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Terrain shadows are one thing, not a huge deal to not have those toggled to off if you’re in jets (I do still have them set on Flat personally, but have changed them to off before and it wasn’t a huge deal). Cockpit Shadows though, for me these are 100% necessary. In the Hornet when you turn Cockpit Shadows to OFF, the panels look materially worse...they look bad, actually, versus looking great with even the Low Shadows setting. 12. 5K+ is the next step change for DCS in VR from a hardware perspective. Whether an average use can drive that or not, well.... In terms of performance ED is probably still busy sitting on their hands while Wags pitches in all his interviews that “VR optimizations are coming.” Who knows though [emoji1743][emoji3603] On a long enough timetime they will surely come. Just a matter of when for now. Hoping for sooner rather than later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Jabbers If GR or GS are one of the chosen ones, I want a refund. Just sayin. Edit: or a gun, either would suffice.
  14. The real (as in the one used in the Hornet) Grayhill rotary showed up while I was traveling to see the in-laws for the holidays [emoji7] It feels super nice, moving it there are very firm tactile clicks into each of the 5 detents. Pricey, but worth it for this part as it’s one I use every flight in the Hornet. I am going to need to take it to a local machine shop for them to drill through the shaft for me though, I’m too scared to try to do that myself. That would be an expensive mistake. I have the OTTO push button with 4lbs of actuation force to put under it for the push button functionality to work. I just need to get the rotary shaft hollowed out at the shop first, and then get it rigged up with washers, nuts, etc so I can run a rod through the shaft and Loctite the end into the bottom of the red JETT button. After that, it’ll be all ready to go [emoji106][emoji2532] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Great review buddy, glad you're enjoying it. I can't remember the exact breakout of which settings tax the CPU and which tax the GPU, but you may want to look at bumping Visib Range up to Ultra and seeing how that treats you -- it may just tax your CPU a bit more and yield you similar FPS, and you'll notice less of the annoying trees popping in at a distance. Probably worth trying for a sortie or two to see if you think it helps (you'll find yourself testing little things like this constantly, should you stick to the VR side). As for the AF recommendation above, there little to no performance gap between 8x and 16x, so don't bother turning it down. Pretty unfortunate that a year ago Wags said he was going to meet with Pimax to work with them to optimize DCS for VR (and for the Pimax), and they couldn't even manage to get this ironed out ahead of backer orders shipping. Hopefully it's something that will be included in the VR optimization Wags has mentioned in interviews, YT comments, etc lately. They are sorely needed and long overdue.
  16. Awesome work man! That looks great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Roger. It also crashes my DCS each time I load in to the server (this is prior to ever loading the textures), could be due to a server setting though. Appreciate the quick response [emoji106][emoji2532] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Also, it’s best to bench in a premade mission with a ton of units on the ground. VR becomes a problem when unit count goes up (like MP or elaborate SP missions), so that’s where you’ll want to see how it’s performing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. What CPU and what clock speed? VR is historically CPU bound, so that will go a long to to interpreting these results. What GPU Core Load % were you holding while flying? What did it drop to (or did it not drop?) when you saw the FPS come down to the 30’s briefly? Thanks for the results and enjoy the new card man! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Anyone else failing IC with this texture pack since the 2.5.4 OB? I’ve tried a few different version and they’ve all caused me to fail IC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Performance is worse for me as well, kind of stinks. I guess we get to just keep waiting on the improvements Wags likes to mention in interviews [emoji1743][emoji3603] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The fix above works, unfortunately it trips IC if you put the Model>Glass.hsl file in to the IC Complaint pack, so just a heads up for the MP guys...you'll need to leave that one out. Thanks koj!
  23. And HB is the developer that’s opted to support custom data cartridges, so via ComatFlite everyone can head up with the same WP info loaded. In combination with the F10 MP WP creation and data link, flights should all be on the same page. Really cool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I doubt Nvidia even knows Eagle Dynamics exists. In a VERY large pond, ED is an EXTRAORDINARILY small fish.
