  1. Great review, glad you like it. This is still #1 on my list of throttles, just waiting to see what VKB will announce whenever they get around to announcing their throttle.
  2. Correct, kontiuka. This isn't the most appropriate thread for a debate on the greatness of 2018 in totality, so I don't want to get OT, but my general point was that the bar will be set very, very high in 2018 with: -Complete revamp of the graphics engine in 2.5 (lighting, shading, quality, effects, etc, etc) -One of the most iconic fighter jets of all time in full fidelity with multi-crew and an AI RIO (Tomcat) -One of the most popular multi-role jets of modern times with the US Navy (Hornet) -I would assume the Harrier will make it out of Early Access in 2018 -Potentially the F-4 -Potentially the J-17 -Potentially Carrier Ops -Potentially the Strait of Hormuz map -Who knows what else in terms of other maps, other jets, warbirds, effects, etc... That's a pretty tough bar to be set for one single year, and IMO would be a tough one to surpass in any given year in the future given the time necessary for development of such high quality simulations. Sure many more great jets will be simulated, but will they be released in the same year as each other? And with a new game engine? You can also only be the first to do multi-role once, and the first release of Carrier Ops can only come once as well. There has been years of "deferred satisfaction" that will be coming to fruition in 2018, and that is exciting and IMO will be difficult to replicate or exceed in the future. It's a great time to be a part of the DCS community and Heatblur is a major reason for that. Everyone has their own headline from the list above, mine is the Tomcat. Just my personal opinion. Perhaps cichildfan thinks every year in the future will have this many ground breaking things releasing in the future, to each their own. In my mind, there are only so many "top tier" jets that can be simulated (Tomcat and Hornet are my top 2 of all time, so this is a dream year for me)...and the limited number of those top-tier jets reduces each time one is simulated and released; at least until another is declassified and approved for development. Add in the fact that that I don't anticipate DCS engine rebuilds being an every year thing...and the odds of it timing up with multiple ground-breaking jets being released in the same year...and yes, I think 2018 will be the best year of DCS releases. That's not a negative thing at all, just a statement of how great of a time it is for DCS currently.
  3. Fantastic update, very well said Cobra. Happy holidays to you and the rest of the HB team. 2018 is shaping up to be the best year DCS has ever seen (and probably ever will see)
  4. Will the Harrier be included with 2.5? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. 2.2 & 1.5.8 VR Performance!!! Well done ED!!! 1.5.8 runs like * in VR for me, 2.2 runs pretty damn well (takes a century to load up in a server the first time and when I spawn in I don't have a plane for 30 seconds, but it eventually loads). That's why I'm not even bothering with 1.5.8 anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Remove 2.2 Open Alpha, it's obsolete. And can probably remove 1.5.8 too...not like you're going to want to dabble with the crappy Caucasus map with that shiny new one at your disposal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Massive Performance Issues with 1.5.8.12667 in Multiplayer It is DCS, after all [emoji6] It would feel weird if there weren't a few oddities to have to deal with, at all times. Thx for the tip, Mustang. Much appreciated brother! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. You can copy and paste your controls over in less than 10 seconds, so no hours needed there my man [emoji1303] As for the graphics settings, yes I'm sure there will be plenty of tweaking and playing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Good stuff, buddy. Thanks for putting this together, will be a great help for myself (and many others) to learn this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. [emoji23] a lot of the true mess was cropped out of the photos haha. Messes drive me nuts but organizing the office loses every time in the battle of "Do I want to organize the room or do I want to fly?" Thanks for the props. I can't wait for my new pedals to get here, then I just need VKB to release some throttle photos so I can decide if I'm going with VKB or VPC... In the interim, not sure if I have posted it in here previously or not...but I sanded the Warthog gimbal down, applied some Nyogel 767A damping grease, and installed a new teflon PTFE ring. All of that paired with the extension and custom spring, it's about the most I can get out of the crappy WH...still, I'm ready for something new (Gunfighter or MT-50). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hotas Warthog Button Map for AV-8B Eventually the TDC axis will be fixed by RAZBAM and be useable, correct? That way on the WH we can just use the little TDC nipple as our "TDC Slew" ministick? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Roger that, thanks for the tip brother!
  13. I won't lie, chronic delays or not, I was it was VKB (or even VPC) that was making the Hornet grip instead of Thrustmaster. MCG's looks great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. VR Cockpit Latest and greatest, office is still a mess but let's be real -- that isn't going to change any time soon. Whenever I actually have a few free minutes away from life/my fiancée, I always chose to fly rather than to finish organizing the room [emoji1303] Really loving the adjustable arms on my new chair...it's really nice to rotate the right chair arm in (as pictured) to hold my stick arm up. Makes long flights a lot more comfortable. Next up: Waiting for my Slaw pedals to get here (now with a self imposed 1.5 month delay, so 4.5 months total, due to a last minute order change). Also will be adding a JetSeat SE in short order as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Ditto, huge bummer. Would've been great fun for the holiday time off of work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Passes IC on both versions for me [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. So is VKB's timeliness, from your customers eyes. I wouldn't try to throw shade on them, given the series of events. Just sayin
  18. Took delivery of this beast today...a Steelcase Leap V2, Black with a Platinum Frame: On the bright side, the chair is incredibly comfortable. I have a Herman Miller Aeron in my office at work and this thing blows it out of the water IMO. I teetered back and forth for quite a while on 1) buying a racing/gaming chair, 2) buying an old actual fighter jet seat, or 3) fabricating a jet seat myself. At the end of the day, I wanted a chair that was well made, comfortable and ergonomic...I found it and unfortunately it was very expensive, but it should last me quite a while and I think my back will thank for me it during long periods of flying (and in the future). On the down side, once I put the seat in my home office (i.e. flight sim room), I realized that my Slaw RX Viper pedals that are on order would look MUCH better if they were in the silver model (pictured below), rather than the all black ones that I ordered back in September. My all black pedals were slated to ship to me from Slaw next week, but today I decided to chang my order with Slaw. As a result, my pedals will now be delayed until the second half of January...hopefully received sometime in early February. This is very unfortunate (especially when I was SO close to having them after 3 months of waiting), but when spending $700+ on pedals and $1000+ on a chair, I wanted to be 100% certain that I am 100% happy with my decisions. I will get pics of the setup with the new chair up sometime in the near future.
  19. I had the stuttering/ghosting off and on all the way up to this last driver update (388.13 was awful for me and I rolled back to 385.xx, I never used 388.31, the one update after that improved it for me but didn't fix it totally)...then I updated to 388.59 and turned MSAA off (because I run Deferred Shading "On" -- running both is currently a disaster)...and all has been well since.
  20. Agree. That adjustable kneeboard from MPS that he posted is clutch for wanting to put it on my thigh! I had been racking my brain trying to figure out how the hell I could come up with an easy/comfortable/non-DIY way to strap it to my leg...and this is perfect.
  21. Yeah...but until this, the options we are discussing are the best options we have. Not sure I understand any of your other points, outside of the one in bold.
