  1. Pixels will be sharper/have more clarity due to the pattern, making reading in cockpit text easier as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Agree completely and have for a while now. With the USN jets becoming the flagships of present day DCS, it makes sense to tuck in a key NAS into NTTR...would help to make it much more relevant.
  3. Don't think the update is live yet.
  4. Also some pics in my Cockpit thread (linked in signature). I can take some rough dimensions of the base box, etc if useful as well.
  5. VR or monitor? That's an important item to note. The first rig would be extraordinarily CPU bottlenecked in VR, I can guarantee that. I have a 4790K running at 5.0ghz and it still bottlenecks my 1080Ti (which obviously isn't as powerful as the 2080Ti you have planned). Remember, the best GPU in the world doesn't do much good if the CPU can't feed it, and give the two core nature of CPU, core clock is king. Overclock the hell out of that 8700K in your second build.
  6. Pimax has sent device selection emails to backers up through 3,000 I believe, so they are finally starting to chug along with production. Not a whole heck of a lot of tracking emails sent out yet, though.
  7. What’s incomplete on the Odyssey+? Coming from my previous Rift that I owned and loved for 15 months, I can’t name a single thing I miss. Well, maybe the headband...it was a bit more comfortable, but still not optimal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Buy a VKB or VPC base, and use the TM Hornet grip with that. It will undoubtedly be better than whatever TM puts out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I have before, always turn it back on bc I don’t like how it looks without it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ditto, couldn't care less about the last two bullet points...but that first one is DEFINITELY relevant to my interests
  11. Haven't noticed the latency at 3, so no need. yet
  12. NCP: Power: Prefer Maximum Performance VR Prerenders Frames: 3 Texture filtering – Quality: High Quality Texturing filtering – Negative LOD bias: Clamp Nothing else was changed from stock, as I don't believe it impacts DCS in VR. I'm not sure the last two do anything, either, but saw them in a Project Cars 2 thread and people seemed to think it really helped there... SteamVR: Both SS settings are set/forced to 100% ASW tweak is set to be always on via the file edit, "motionvector" I believe it is Unchecked Enable Advanced Supersampling Filter Renamed DCS Saved Games to "xxx.backup" and let DCS create a new one. Added the IC compatible VR mod and deleted fxo and metashaders2 folders. Loaded up, selected "VR Present" and tweaked from there, from memory I've changed the following: PD to 1.4 in DCS Both of the first two textures set to High Water to High Visibility to Ultra MSAA 2x AF 16x Clutter to 0 Trees to 80% Raindrops ON Global Cockpit Illumination to OFF Using the fpsVR app for SteamVR, I flew around in the DDCS server today around Senaki/Kutaisi/Kobuleti where the war was waging -- an area that has historically been the 100% hands down most demanding area of the any of the maps for me. By a long shot. After a 39 minute session, I averaged 39.x FPS. I expect that as I test further in other areas of the map it will show that I am much closer to 45FPS on average, on the most demanding MP server. I'll take it for now, but the testing/tweaking shall continue for certain. FWIW, I am clearly CPU limited, per the SteamVR Frame Analyzer tool and the fpsVR tool. The CPU is the cause for the vast majority of frame drops, and it is bottlenecking the Core % Usage of my GPU by 20-30% essentially at all times.
  13. Create a mission with specific set of waypoints for you to fly. Use fpsVR (bst $3.99 I've ever spent) via SteamVR to track everything performance related, including CPU and GPU breakouts for performance/utilization, which hardware dropped frames and when, your average FPS, etc. Rinse and repeat flying the same mission as you tweak settings, and decide which is best for you. Would be cool if ED created an auto pilot benchmark mission where you just sat in the cockpit and let a 5 minute intensive mission auto pilot itself, then you could do the above in a more controlled environment.
  14. I’ve tried Shadows at Flat many times, and just can’t deal with how it looks — the cockpit looks SO much worse, that in the end it’s not even worth it for me. I’d love to snag those FPS but can’t deal with how terrible it looks. Virus, I’ll post the changes I made later today when I have a free minute [emoji106][emoji2532] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I mean, yeah, but why even bother to read the thread before posting? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. This morning I reran (in some cases for the 3rd or 4th time) all of the recommended tweaks scattered throughout this thread for DCS settings, and other NCP/SteamVR tweaks found on many forums for WMR settings. Also, I reinstalled Steam, SteamVR and WMR for SteamVR. Lastly, I deleted my DCS Saved Games folder and populated a new one. I set everything to High, Shadows to Low, Terrain Shadows to Flat, MSAA to 2x, AF to 8x, sliders right of center and in some cases all the way to the right (can't recall exact values right now) and tested from PD's between 1.2 and 1.4. My FPS are now in line with where they were with the Rift (i.e. they still suck, bc DCS in VR is a nightmare for FPS in general, but they are manageable). 45FPS in SP for the most part with some slight dips, anywhere between 25-45FPS on MP. I personally still don't see the in cockpit clarity increase, but I do see an improvement in clarity at a distance from the increased pixel count. Maybe my eyes are still adjusting and the cockpit clarity will come once they've adjusted? Anyway, here is a copy/paste from a review I left on Reddit: Happy to see things trending in the right direction for me re: FPS and hoping my eyes adjust and I can see the "wow" inducing increase in cockpit clarity many have experienced
  17. That's an understatement.
  18. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/using-steamvr-with-windows-mixed-reality See near the bottom for the function I believe he is describing with the color coding for bottlenecks.
  19. It suggested 200%, I checked the Force Override and set it to 100%. Still terrible FPS @ only 1.2PD  I also already have Terrain Object Shadows on Flat, Shadows (the setting on the left column) on Low ...I believe, not certain, that it is either Low or Off for this one.
  20. Modern western jet grip to go along with all of the modern western jets we have, for certain
  21. Running the F/A-18C Instant Action "Free Flight" over Caucasus as my benchmark, with SteamVR forced to 100%, ASW in the Beta set to On with the code update, and DCS in-game PD only set at 1.2...and I can't even hold a steady 45FPS on this very basic mission. I get constant stuttering any time I move my head or roll, and FPS drops into the 30's. Settings that matter: 2x MSAA, 2x AF, Shadows Low, Terrain Shadows Flat, etc. I just got it yesterday and it's been super frustrating so far, but I'll keep tweaking it tonight.
  22. Would also love to hear any ideas on this, just received my Odyssey+ yesterday (coming from a Rift CV1) and this is driving me nuts.
  23. Start doing yoga so you can be a little more limber before loading in to the pit.
  24. Flip the switch up one more position into Bypass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Anyone have a recommend value to try for the Odyssey+? Mine arrives tomorrow and I’m assuming my Rift value won’t do the trick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
