  1. There are different key mappings for easy and simulation. Go to controls, and the bottom should be a simulation option. Then find the pause function and make sure the pause key is mapped to it. Or reset to defaults.
  2. Yeah it was discussed already. So the alt hold uses a rotor break to hold the alt. Say you happened to change the position of the collective during hover. Your alt didnt actually change because of the 20% authority of alt hold. But then you turn off hover, if alt hold went with it you risk putting yourself in settling power.
  3. My suggestion is using Wombats scripts, then follow the directions he gave to add the DCS startup commands. Then you have 2 shortcuts just like you do normally, but they start with the cores you have selected. No excess programs running in the backround. I have attached the modified scripts. 1 for dual core, 1 for quad, 1 for 4 thread on an i7 and one for 8 threads on an i7. A singleplayer and multiplayer .cmd file. And also the process.exe file. Download the file attached to this post. Extract contents to your x:\Program Files (x86)\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50 this is the default location. Replace the SP and MP shortcuts on your desktop with shortcuts to the appropriate SP and MP .cmd files. DSCAff.zip
  4. This seems to be just another program to set affinity. I highly doubt there will be a benefit in XP. For Vista, wombat's scripts are the best.
  5. Negative, its wire guided. You wont get a warning.
  6. This worked perfectly. Now I can just open the shortcuts like you normally would!
  7. Nope. And from what I hear through the grapevine, there is no intent to ever update HL.
  8. Open the blue DCS MP icon. Go to Options, and change your name. Go to client. You should see the in game browser. By default it has LAN selected, so you will need to change it to internet. Now you should get a list of servers. Unfortunately there is a slight bug, and you only get the IP data. Just hit Refresh, and you will game the rest of the data.
  9. I am not sure? My guess is you took a round from an unseen combatant.
  10. 1C helped me out. They also provided a link for deactivation, but it is different than the PDF that was posted.
  11. Ultimate is just a package level of Vista. There is Home, Business and I am sure others as well. It just determines what preinstalled stuff comes with it. And so as stated previously, and version of Vista will do.
  12. Nope. You will burn 2 activations. That is all.
  13. What do you mean when you say Priffinity isnt working? Maybe a screenshot of how you got it setup?
  14. Edit - Sorry, this should have gone in the Activation forum. So here is the story. I installed DCS worked great. I decided to do a fresh install of Vista for various reasons. So I just installed on another partition. I then installed DCS again, with the intent of deactivating 1 installation. But I kept it around just in case there was problems. Then I decided to install Linux on another partition. This completely screwed up my new Vista installation, in which I needed to format again. There goes an activation. Now when I tried to activate Vista, it wouldnt over the internet, and I really didnt want to bother with the phone activation at the time. So I installed DCS. 0 activations left. Thats OK because I can deactivate on my old Vista install. Then I got tired of the Vista activation pop-up, so I went through the phone activation... This required me to activate DCS again!!!!! DANG IT!!!! But I have 0 left. So I go to my old Vista install to deactivate. But it didnt work right. I followed the PDF, but instead of getting a window with a deactivation code I get this; And on top of that, it actually did deactivate that install. So now I have 2 installs that I cant activate.... I much preferred the registry key saving... I also tried the manual deactivation on the StarForce webpage, and both give me an invalid machine code... :(
  15. Serious? I guess, just stating the facts. To think that a developer should limit performance on one system compared to anther is irrational. I guess if you say it was a joke, OK, but then I guess the entire post was a joke. It is a difference in the way each OS handles the supporting files. The 'fix' would be something on Microsofts end.
  16. Define properly... So the game plays better on a E6600 than on a P4 2.8. So should ED cripple the performance so they are equal? What you say is irrational.
  17. This didnt work for me. Stanger, make sure to check after you are in the cockpit.
  18. Yaw IIRC was handled by differential in the coaxial rotors. And IIRC that is one of the benefits of the coaxial, is it is able to put nose on target faster than say that AH64 that has targetting sensors with a wider range of motion.
  19. Ah,, I thought it said Q6600 not E6600. It is interesting that this tweak works. Because the OS detects the same amounts of cores as before, but by default for programs uses more cores. Crazy! And much easier than anything else. This IMO is the best solution so far.
  20. Stanger, Go to task manager, and see how many CPU usage charts it shows......... You should have 4, I bet you have 2. You limited your Quad to a Dual.
  21. All of you going on about Natural Point are naive of the situation. You are the same people who pirate games, because the situation is no different. Maybe you should grow some balls and actually ask NaturalPoint what is what, instead of just mouthing off on a forum.
  22. I didnt imply anything. Oh excuse me for looking at thread that is stated "Not enjoying DCS ATM", and then is filled with nothing but a rant on Natural Point who is doing what they should be to protect their property and investments, and then another rant how how your X52 doesnt work. Would have been much easier to just post a thread asking how to get your X52 working. It is not about you asking for help, its about you ranting like a 6 year old. You claim to be a 35 year old professional engineer, but you sure didnt act like it in your first post. And T.E.C. You can look all you want, but there is no way around driver signing in Vista x64 without actually disabling the function or getting the driver signed. Its a simple F8 when you boot, dont make it harder than it is.
  23. 'Every' other game is rather simple in comparison. I dont doubt that if they see the benefit it would get patched, I just wouldnt expect it to be any time soon. There was a specific issue when dual-cores started coming out, that people would get this aweful stuttering. It was eventually narrowed down to the affinity being on multiple cores. This issue was resolved when I believe AMD first released a processor batch to fix load balancing, and then MS made their own. As it is now, you can run LOMAC just fine on multicore.
  24. AA and AF need to be handled by the driver. Mirrors and reflections work, just like LOMAC.
