  1. You didn't bother to read what he wrote. And what do you propose to do, when the fighters need to fight? How do you survey then? Or maybe you are right, and all of our generals don't know what they are doing. You should apply to OCS, show them the error of their ways.
  2. Exactly! Some people are not considering their GPU memory. It counts towards address space. I hope some tuning is done so that people are not burdened with upgrading their OS, but I guess its not much different than needing to upgrade the RAM, or any other component. And if its not a memory leak, but a legitimate use of RAM, we should probably be happy about it. Although it worked before, so hopefully something can be done.
  3. It didn't seem quite on par, but that will probably be resolved with more tuning. The problem is, they are late to the party. nVidia is just sitting on their next card, waiting for AMD to release this.
  4. I had no doubt that once the technology was demonstrated, it would get a lot of demand. That EO-DAS system is a game changer.
  5. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/sep/19/us-pilot-scares-iranians-top-gun-worthy-stunt-you-/ A bit comical. About what we all would have expected. But, for those who were in doubt, yet it really does kick that much ass. :joystick:
  6. My specs; Win 8 Pro x64 Intel Xeon W3520 @ 3.2GHz, same as i7 920 D0 12GB RAM 128GB Corsair C300 nVidia 285GTX, 2 in SLI For the instant action A10C hard mission, from the time I click the mission to being in cockpit is 47 seconds, and DCS was consuming 3.2GB of RAM. For the first A10C campaign mission, from the time I click fly, to being in cockpit is 56 seconds, DCS is consuming 3.5GB of RAM. The load times do seem a bit longer, but for me they are still acceptable. I would also note the RAM usage is for DCS alone. Total usage of the system on the campaign mission is 5.8GB. If you only have 4GB, maybe even 6GB depending on what else you have running, you are hitting the swap file. If you only have a normal HDD and its swapping, your load times are going to sky rocket. I don't think the HDD/SDD is having as much of an effect as it going to swap file is.
  7. The Hip, not the Hind. ;) Seems like 1.26 is giving a lot of people trouble. My first suggestion would be to reinstall from scratch.
  8. Please refer to this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1803549&postcount=169 Since the support is native and not through LUA, I am assuming its going to be a problem on the DCS side? Hopefully its a quick and simple fix?
  9. Its not vapour-ware, I have the unit. Can take a pic if you want. They are just an extremely small company, I think maybe 2 people right now, and they have gone through a lot of legal issues that have kept them from expanding. After about 3 years, mostly due to my traveling for my job, I have finally got it back up and running. My only complaint was having to dig around to find decent instructions on how to get it working for DCS, and even then I don't think I got it right.
  10. I currently have the 326.41 driver and I have no issues with my SLI 285GTX's. Of course it could be related to all the new features in the newer cards. Is there any reason you guys are not running the most recent driver? There is a new beta driver released, 326.80.
  11. Why? The mission designer could easily just not include the legacy types... :smilewink:
  12. Doesn't the way its done now hinder better ECM/ECCM simulation?
  13. DCS seems to be more CPU dependant. I don't know how much, but you should see FPS improvement from overclocking. I have heard there are GTX6xx series problem though, not sure if that was resolved.
  14. If by not useful you mean DCS can't actually do anything better, then OK. Sounds like a great idea to me. Current A2A is a complete mess.
  15. I thought the P51 was done as something for one of the investors or something? I don't really care to see a whole lot more of it. I have bought everything to date just to show my support, but it makes no sense if I don't fly any of it.
  16. IIRC each round is an object, and then each time it impacts each round renders the explosion effect. We have had this problem, not just from the AI, since the beginning of LOMAC. When I was looking at it before the FPS drop seemed to coincide more with the rounds hitting the ground and the explosion being rendered, than at the start of the firing and the object count going up. Maybe different these days. There used to be a mod to replace the explosion and smoke effect that helped a lot.
  17. We have had this problem since LOMAC. It has something to do with the explosion effect. Guns used to be a game pausing experience at below 1FPS. I think there are a few mods out there that replace the effect. We also get a huge FPS drop from the dust clouds, BS used to be horrible taking off. Not sure if its strictly an engine problem, or just effects problem. Its something with the high particle type effects. I am guessing its just something with the whole base code and that EDGE is going to fix all of these graphics problems (and bring new ones :D)
  18. I've always wondered what else they could separate out. They got the sound engine out. What about the flight dynamics? Weather? The avionics and other systems? I don't code so what the hell do I know.
  19. I have 2 x GTX285. When SLI is disabled I get 24fps at the start of the first instant action A10C mission. With SLI enabled I get 45fps. I have heard other people have problems with the 6xx series of nVidia with DCS, not just the 690. There is nothing accurate in your post. Except that maybe you have a 690. Everything else is wrong.
  20. I don't even really understand your OP. This fragmentation you speak of? How is it even a problem? The only place where it will be an issue is air quake. Strictly set up A2A servers with not much else. In any other situation there is absolutely no problem at all.
  21. I would love to see the Longbow done. I know it would be beyond the BS. I think one of the challenges was the radar, but hopefully with the F18 being done, some of that will be addressed. I wonder if data-linking is possible through them all.
