The F-22 had TVC already on the prototype, the black widow is one of the most, if not the most beautiful plane ever made, especially in white. And I'm sure the production model wouldn't get an ugly fat duckish nose. It was faster, stealthier and more maneuvrable aerodynamics wise (if the VF-22 would have its nozzles locked). Did I say it was gorgeous? Oh, it had a bigger weapon bay too. Conservatives (funny, in this case, as both are still ahead of their time) won :(

Pass the bong bro -
speaking of rough fields, will we get them in Black Shark? And can we place them by ourselves to base su-25s from them?
-
You can have it, but then some strange Russian guy in a trenchcoat would be sitting in a black car across the street and your home phone will make clicking sounds. Just out of curiosity, would a civillian be allowed to posess a military tracking radar? You know, some rich guy, nothing to do, well, buy some S-300PMU2 radars for in your back yard. Or would the country you're in be allowed to send a couple Harms to the vicinity of your back yard?

Dude, if you like low passes you should certainly live around here, we have F-16s doing low levels all the time on Mondays, lot of AB roar, and a year or two ago I was cycling through an open field, and a pair made nice 300 feet or lower passes over me, that was so cool, I did a metal goatee, so maybe they had recon pods :p Of course, here having too many fighters flying over low, maybe some occasional afterburning action would lead to Whinefest 2007, why can't people appreciate an occasional AB roar? Oh, and last week Wednesday and An-124 approached my house, that was so cool, it wos coming straight towards me, at no more than 200/300m, and it was damn quiet as well, but seeing such a beast coming slowly towards you, while you stand in the attik is heartbreakingly beautiful. I didn't even bother to take pictures, jsut wanted to enjoy the moment, damn that thing is impressive looking in flight, many times better than on the apron. And a year or two ago I saw A-10s flying right over downtown Eindhoven, that rocked, too bad I only realised they were up there when I looked up and thought 'That's a bit too much lomac Alex' Luckly I haven't gone mad, but the sound was cool nontheless.

The strange thing is that it does have an american, ACES II parachute :p And the seats themselves are too weak, nagnagnag...

But would we be able to fly other choppers through a Meint modification (so no model swap)? -
And a lots of bullcrap on the Skniliv crash 'hit a stand' my ass, ended the loop on the wrong side, with too much fuel and a too high angle of attack.

The bottom can be made tansparent, so they can look up at the sun.

This is a corporate video of Almaz Antey, nothing to do with Iran/Korea/Lichtenstein/Andorra whatever. Sales pitches are always designed to be 'positive'. Fact is that the S-300PMU2 intercepts ballistic targets at max 40km out with 0.8-0.97 probability, that is impressive. Offcourse something says if such virtual city will ever be attacked there will be more than 4 ballistic warheads going in ;) One thing is sure, no sane military would rely only on SAMs to defend some site, unless they want to spend more on missiles/equipment than the probable target is worth. Is someone really wanted to get rid of some site, they can always do it, it's just a matter of time and numbers. Not wanting to turn this into a pissing contest, but why is Iran not allowed to posess nuclear weapons, did they sign a non proliferation treaty?

No it doesn't, try flying a mig with a centre tank and 21% of fuel, then jettinon the tank, and keep flying on your indicated 1600kg...

Name of that tune?
Force_Feedback replied to Force_Feedback's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Wow, thank you very much, you can't imagine how much music means for me now, yeah a nervous breakdown :\ This means so much for me, again, wether this will work or not, thanks a lot. -
That is a very interesting question, when coming in on absolute minimums, 800-900kg of fuel, the thing needs 1.2km to stop (no chute, 220kph landing speed, perfect flare)?
-
Hey, I have this burning quiestion, what's the name of the music used in this F-22 promo video? http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/Dragonfly/1931/ (thx for posting it Dragonfly) And what tune is used in the Boeing bird of prey presentation vid? No pissing contest, just the name of the song, and then a lock once all questions have been answered.

New Bomber, never seen before....

I once tried getting one of them stoned, well, it didn't work... for them. -
Yes, but if your engines do get hit by something, they will burn, wether you turn them off or not, and after a while your plane will say 'boom', on the su-25T, you can turn off the burning engine, and the fire will extinguish itself, guess it's some bug on the vanilla Frog.

Well, wikipedia isn't the most reliable source of information, I agree, the dead mans curve should also exist with coaxial rotors, but maybe it has to do with resistance generated by the main to tail rotor reductor. No mention of blade clashing as a new side effect?

Heh, who would that be, Mohammed, Hitler or that little fat French dude from Bill & Ted? Ease off on him, I guess he learned his lesson by now, if not, then rage on, and do it well -

420 is some important number in the recreational marijuana smoking culture, lots of info on its origins on the internet, 420 means smoking weed :) -

He does have a 420 reference, that being the only good thing on his blog, maybe even the only truthful part, man I hate fake people, na matter how forgiving you are, they always try to exploit you :/ Guess I should be less polite to everyone they think they can keep pushing my limits, well, no. -
Uh ugh, flight tested doesn't mean 'fixed and made as realistic as possible' Didn't the su-25T have slightly uprated engines? Beyond that, I don't think either of us could judge wether the su-25T perfroms as it should, same applies even more to others, but they lack AFM so are inherently less realistic.

Don't blow it off, it's just a question.

Oh, sorry for not replying sooner, I thought this had turned into some pissing contest. But yes, Iguana and GG are right, it's to let the high voltage system charge up, and after those 4 minutes the system is on receive only ('reconnaissance'), so yes it's the time for it to power up. After that you have 6 hours of jamming, well at least on the Su-27, don't know how much water the Miggie carries with it. ECM is not moddled thoroughly enough to be of any practical use against human oponnents, terrain masking is the best 'ecm' we've got in lomac, now that radars don't see through mountains. Against the AI it's great, especially for ground pounding. -

Heh, reminds me of accusing Tigrou himself for posting an X-plane video with the same song (Ever Dream, Nightwish) and style he used for lockon_STE :P I still feel awful for saying that, oh well he was ok with it. But stealing content and claiming it to be your own is just retarded. -
MiG-35 and MiG-29SMT presentation
Force_Feedback replied to Alfa's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
His quoted statement is right, improving doesn't mean increase in detection range, but, as I said 2 times before, more intelligence and a better situational awareness. Now cut the crap with the OT discussions, or accusing eachother saying something OT. Also, the new quartz glass dome will make it more scratch resistant, not deminishing the tracking quality over time. In the video it was said that the old OLS balls became like sanded after a while, deminishing the optical consistency. I liked the comparison they made in the video, 'a radar always has been considered as the eyes of a fighter, well, this system can actually be called that, radar is more like ranging organs found on animals, like bats' (not litteral, but he did say it). They also said the IR system used some exotic wavelength, unlike most other IRST devices. Man that thing would be great for ground pounding, spotting tanks, telling what type they are (rather strange, but guess it has datalink advantages, so 'others' know what kind of threat that aircraft is up against). It was also told that the laser and missile warning receivers had a little over full hemispherical coverage. All interesting developments for this old airframe if you ask me. I wouldn't call it revolutionary, but it sure is a good leap to be on par with the F-16/Rafale/Gripen/F-18F/J-10 -
MiG-35 and MiG-29SMT presentation
Force_Feedback replied to Alfa's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The video makes me understand that it's about sensor fusion and enhanced situational awareness, and a quicker response time due to the automatic recognition features, nowhere does it say that optronics will become the new radar on all planes. I guess the 'enhanced WVR' statement is very appropriate for this system. Also, the Mig-35 is not profiled as an air dominance fighter, it's just the versatile day to day job plane, able to do a wide range of tasks. Actually the most remarkable thing is that the new OLS was designed on a short notice and from the ground up by a team consisting mainly of young engineers, not bound by the conservative thinking of older designers. That's what they say on the show at least. Also the new system uses fiber optics that can handle 600 mbit (my connection is 1/6th the speed of a Mig-35, weee!), the big chief also said that this would never have happened if the old ruling had their way. Again, a possible revision of thinking by the ex-Soviet aviation industry.
