Except NASA went metric :music_whistling:

But nobody uses kelvin, while it is actually really easy. I guess the numbers would get to big for normal use

I am running everything maxed with my GTX 970 and it runs more than fine (90 fps is no exeption depending on the situation). I have a i5 4690K and would rather look at your CPU than graphics card. Also I have no problem with running out of vram. Never had the slowdown of the last 0.5 gb ram. Running at 1920x1080 btw. But I even tried 4k dsr, and it was still playable.

CPUCores (software) could improve DCS performance ?!
fixen replied to Manuel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
How did you test it? What benchmark did you use? How often did you test it? What programs are running in the background? There are a lot of variables in this and you seems to jump to conclusions way to fast. Edit: also you should look at the difference in average fps. Minimum fps fluctuates way to much even with the same conditions in the benchmark. For a minimum fps comparison run the test at least 10 times. Its better to look at a average of the 25% lowest fps. -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
fixen replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
If you join the teamspeak of a multiplayer server like the 104th, there are usually people that want to fly with you. Probably people that want to be a RIO aswell ones the f-14 is out, I would. Otherwise take the ai RIO -
You are not completely right. In the a-10c everything works as intended. But, when you want to set the flaps of the su-25 to the flap selector switch you wont be able to set three states. Only the up and down position work without target software. The middle position is the off position of the switch and DCS will require a driver to tell it is a programmable switch position aswell.

This... you can simply track the emisions of the radar and get an aproximate position. I can see problems with accuracy because of the fast movement of jets though. This is where 2 forms of tracking would be required (wich is as metioned in this topic is not really done yet). Final stage could be IR tracking to get the high accuracy required for a hit. This way it would still be a silent yet long range missile. RWR can recieve radar signals before they have a chance to lock you up. Then you just have to shoot a missile in that direction and when in range the missile switches to IR mode. By the way, i was not suggesting this missile to be added to the SU-27. Just liked the idea of the missile. That could indeed be a problem. What if the missile just keeps going in the expected position of the aircraft (the enemys path and speed is known afterall) until it gets an update again of the enemy's radar. This would not work against highly manouvering targets ofcourse. Final stage of the missile in IR mode and the enemys radar is not needed anymore. Edit: I have been reading about the LPI radar. That would indeed complicate things.

First let me say that i am no expert at all. But i can still see advantages: 1. No radar required, thus no warning (depending on range ofcourse, outside MWS range) 2. Heaters have quite a range limitation due to the nature of the seeker 3. More and more aircraft are getting stealth capability's, if you can use the signal they are emitting you don't need to break their stealth. Maybe we will never see them, maybe the technology just isn't refined enough and we will see them in the future. I just don't think you should discard it so easily.

I just found out that this missile existed today. I always wondered why there is no passive radar seeker on a air tot air missile. Searched for a topic on this missile on the forums. Advantages: No launch warning No radar required Disadvantages: Can only be fired in head on engagements with the bandit being nose hot If the bandit makes a turn or goes defensive the missile will lose lock. I still think this missile would be quite effective with the disadvantages though. Even if the reciever can't find the radiating bandit at long range you could guide it to target without him getting a launch warning. When we fire an aim-120 at a target in TWS it is also guided in the first stage without getting a launch warning right? The missile only has to be guided in the general direction, that does not require an STT lock. Once the passive seeker is picking up radiation it can go "pitbull". This would mean it can not be targeted accuratly though. It would just head towards the first airborn radar emittor. But all that aside, the passive seeker probably does have quite some detection range. Maybe we will get more of these missiles in the future. When a fighter gets equiped with something like an ELINT pod used on the SU-25T but then for air to air use wich can determine the position of bandits relatively accurate, I could see it work. The missile could get radio guided in the first stage by info from the ELINT pod. Once the seeker sees the target itself it goes "pitbull".

I think this is going off topic and you guys should fight in pm

I think I will be doing a fair bit of RIO when the F-14 comes out. It feels like the position is underrated quite a bit. Online the F-14's with a human RIO are probably going to be a lot stronger then people flying with the ai version. A well communicating RIO gives a lot of situational awareness and tactical advice you will never get from an ai (atleast not the next 10 years).

Please check my PC, low frame rates

The 5820 has great single core performance. Single core performance a bit slower than a i7 4770. 400 dollar processor..... -
I stand corrected
-
I think it's not possible. Registry entries are going to be corrupted. I would deactivate and install it the normal way on the new drive. But, you can always try
-
I said it wrong, it's not so much the lack of accuracy but more a lack of smoothness which results in accuracy loss. With the extension I get great accuracy without setting curves.
-
I have the warthog and it's great, but... I would only recommend it when you get an extension aswell. When I first got it i was kinda dissapointed. I could not get accurat movements out of the stick. When I attached the extension to the stick that all went away though and now its flying great. Even helicopters can be done with an extension. With extension its the best mass produced stick I can think off. This is my experience and other people might have different views.

R-27ET, no LA even though target is in range
fixen replied to EngineerFalcon's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
I did find this though. It is able to fire without an ir lock. In cases of maximum head-on range launches where lock-command cannot be utilised, missile can be fired in PPS: In this mode, missile will fly straight until achieves target lock. As missile lacks capability of maneuvering before lock, aircraft itself must maneuver so that missile will be pointed to no more than 15 degrees bearing of the target for confident capture by the IR seeker after launch. Equalising altitude is recommended but not required.[4] On combat operations section of the Su-27 manual, this mode of usage is especially recommended for head-on usage for passive attacks at targets with 0 degrees approach angle (i.e. another fighter moving to intercept), leaving target unalerted to incoming missile. -
R-27ET, no LA even though target is in range
fixen replied to EngineerFalcon's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
It would have been nice to have the missile also able to launch with a radar Lock (or even tws lock) without having an ir lock. The missile could get updates from the aircraft until its own seeker has a stable lock. Then you could fire it without a stable ir signal from long range without getting the missile fire warning on the enemy aircraft's rwr. But I guess the missile is not capabele of getting in flight updates from the launching aircraft. Though I must say that I can usually get an ir lock from quite a long range anyway. -
104th server is almost always populated... There is atleast one WWII server which is populated most of the time aswell.

You mean this one?

Gave up waiting for a sale ... need WW2 module advice.
fixen replied to Deathticket1974's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
P51 is the easier one to take off and land. Engine management is easier in the fw190. I would recommend trying the free tf51 first and see If you like it. The P51 is cheaper aswell wich might be something to consider for your first WWII fighter. -
Make sure your pc has a Static ip though. Otherwise when your pc requests its ip adress from the router it may get another one assigned wich isn't the forwarded one.

I have read about it (I have a gigabyte G1 gaming), but I also heard that not every card is experiencing the issue. Not sure about it at all though. I think it had something to do with the brand of ram they used. Samsung memory chips werent affected last thing I read. But that was a few days ago and might not be true. My card has Samsung memory and I personally havent experienced any issues yet. I have my card since release so no returning the card for me. Im happy with the card so far though. Also, from a legal standpoint nvidia hasnt done anything wrong. All 4 gigs are present, a small part is just very slow, but they never said it wasnt. But I don't think nvidia is going to be a dick about it, they would lose a lot of customers because of it. Im going to wait and see whats going to happen in the next few days.

You need a stick and throttle, they said...

As long as you have fun it is all good. But I think online play is going to get frustrating fast without a stick. Though we all die a lot the first few runs online. If somehow you live close to Groningen, Netherlands, I have a spare logitech xtreme 3D stick for you you can pick up If your tight with cash. If not, you may want to look it up If you got around 30 euro's to spare and buy one.
