  1. A full world map is a must for DCS. It will allow global operations and cruise missiles!! Besides, it will be a canvas for many map developers. Nothing more satisfying than seeing your DCS world being detailed map by map until the whole earth is completed! Many FSX scenario developers would come and make money in a full combat simulator with a brilliant future Obviously, ED will need to give a basic world with the elevation mesh and generic terrain and water textures. They could get a license from FTX global
  2. I don't think developing variants of the same planes is a bad idea. No at all when they are so different or have been greatly upgraded like the SuperHornet, Strike Eagle, Ka-52.
  3. Yeah, sure! I'll post it very soon in the "Input Output/homemade cockpits" section Thanks, man. For this time only I'll show the secret for free for all the X-55 users and those still hesitating. The X-55 HOTAS is a good budget investment in spite lacking a couple of HATS. The Saitek software is utter rubbish, though. In the same fashion but one advantage is that the TM hog has a PS2 connector from the base to the stick unlike Saitek which uses a propietary ball grid arrangement connector that makes neccesary to disassemble the stick to access to the cables for a simpler connection.
  4. One plane that I wouldn't definitively want to see is the F-117. This plane can't carry more than two guided bombs and unable to defend itself. I don't think it would be entertaining to travel for hours, drop two bombs and come back all the times!!
  5. Yeah, right. This have been asked many times but we don't have an official answer. It is been rumored that these effects will be generated by the EDGE engine and not embedded in the plane model
  6. And I didn't have to design or used 3D printed parts. The whole extension was made using 3/4", 1/2",1", 1-1/4" PVC pipes and fittings plus some heat to bend the shaft and a motortool to drill a couple of holes to the PVC parts. No alteration or damage to the structure of the original stick whatsoever. The X-55 green spring is strong enough for this 14" extension. The intrusive part was having to cut and splice the 8 cables that run from the stick to the base with longer cables. The best part is that I don't have that annoying stick twist anymore since I use rudder pedals.
  7. mmmm... something for everyone he said? I bet it's a F-16!! Wow!! That would be the greatest thing!
  8. This is more like a Vainilla to Chocolate comparison. Both of them have many supporters. I will be using both. Right now I'm starting to build a not very complex A-10C cockpit just because I love the plane and the joy of constructing something myself. I will use the Rift for the other DCS modules I have
  9. X-55? Really? that would be great!!! Now I don't have to get rid of my modded X-55:
  10. I'm so happy like everyone here that the Tomcat is coming to DCS Can't wait to fly to the danger zone!! Are these TF-30 engines already modelled?
  11. Virtual reality and gloves that gives you tactile feedback will rule the simulation forever In the meantime, I'm building a cockpit because "building" its the hobby itself. It's like criticizing people who build scale models and then show them instead of buying them already built ready to put on the shelf
  12. Sorry to reanimate this old thread but I would like to hear what hardcore flight simmers think about this topic now that the Oculus Rift release time is being announced for the next summer. Personally, this VR will get better and end up killing cockpit building sooner or later
  13. I got to think you had lost the files!!! Great to know that the Hornet is making progress
  14. Like I said: You need to work on the map first. That's the biggest sign we're gonna have a Falklands/malvinas war even with BF-109's and Su-27. Then finish your 3D models and add planes as AI aircraft, then much later, when you have enough knowledge how DCS works and multicrew code is implemented, you can offer one by one DCS planes with AFM You need to face the truth and work step by step or you'll end up leaving this project behind
  15. We'll see if this is possible when the map is released!
  16. I don't think this gadget will benefit DCS. It's more for a desktop 2D interface. I'm working on a glove with a small vibe motor in the tip of the index finger that will let you know when you have reached a switch, button or rotary
  17. This will open some cockpit building possibilities for the F-15C too!! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Great project, Eduardo Don't let the difficulties let you down. DCS is the perfect scenario for a Falklands/Malvinas war. Developing planes for FSX might be easier but we don't want them just to fly around without weapons. TacPack isn't an option... Expect a lot of work because you will need a map, models, cockpit models, .lua scripting, etc. I suggest you to start with the map. Build the map and finish your models as AI aircrafts. Then we could test them with the flyable planes DCS already have and at a later stage, one by one, you can make your own DCS level flyable planes I've made sceneries for FSX and do some 3D max modelling but my time is veery limited these days. However, just let me know how can I help a little. Good luck!
  19. This is getting better and better. I will be buying a Hornet and Ka-50 grips
  20. Try FacetrackNoIR. Works perfectly with DCS both face tracking and IR point tracking. it was the only tracking software that didn't crash with my PS3 eye camera
  21. ohh..boy ...this is going real! Now with the Warthog being throttle and stick being sold as standalones this will be sick!
  22. That's right. You can't compare Systems Modelling in FSX to DCS
  23. I'm afraid not. Back in the 90's and early 2000s there were, besides DirectX, many APIs like S3Metal, OpenGL Full & Mini ICD and Software renderer but no one is used these days. DirectX has been evolving through many years and it is universal. Propietary APIs like Mantle are never a good idea. Plus, it is plagued for bugs and without a huge users base it won't be able to iron out those problems.
  24. Great! Thanks a lot for sharing this!
