  1. When I fly the huey I feel physically drained after that, I have to take a nap, hehe.
  2. I have a Thrustmaster Hotas Flight stick X or something like that, not by choice but simply because I cannot get a warthog or any of those types of flight sticks here in my country, the shipping cost were half the price of the stick, madness. But I was surprised at this stick I got, its not too bad, you can separate the throttle and it has a rudder control kind of thing on the throttle so you dont have to use the twist stick. It has enough buttons that you can simulate the HOTAS controls of the warthog, if you get creative. Its not force feedback though http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/tflight-hotas-x I have heard its around $70 in the states, I paid about $120 for the damn thing, but it works, it made flying a lot more fun.
  3. Yes you can leave steam behind, your life will be much happier and easier that way  If you copy and paste the folder from steam you may get an exe problem, not sure about that though.
  4. Thanks Flagrum, Replace the section for the Mi-8 in Saved Games\Config\Views\Server.lua, worked liked a charm as far as I can see, good stuff.
  5. Thanks guys, sorted.
  6. Ubuntu eh OP???? The linux meaning or the african meaning boet? The huey is awesome I must say, take a free flight put on some Hendricks and its like being in Nam, hehehehe. The huey is a lot of fun, but twitchy, but i suck as a pilot so just about everything is twitchy.
  7. Yeah that's the one, thanks bro.
  8. hallelujah, there is a god. Please make it so, really Ed, it makes me want to slaughter little goldfish in frustration this zooming out thing, and I am a pretty calm kinda of guy. I could never understand why you did it, its been there since lomac hasn't it?
  9. I have recently starting using the Shoulder mod, I think thats what its called, although I am still trying to get used to it, you don't really need snap views if you use that mod, you can see everything quite easily, makes it more immersive than snap views imo. The hud takes some getting used to though, so be warned about that if you do think of using it.
  10. Didn't know that could be done, goddamn will I ever learn all I need to learn.
  11. Very true, just when you think you know everything, you read something and then you realize you don't know very much at all, hehe.
  12. No you don't need to spool down the engines to refuel or rearm, or open the canopy to contact the ground crew. The only time I spool down the engines is to repair. If you going to spool down the engines and you want to keep the systems up a running then you need to do either or both, 1. Ask for ground power before spooling down 2 spool up you APU and switch on the apu gen. you will need the apu running anyway to spool the engines back up. Make sure your communication with the ground crew is over the interphone. They will not answer on FM, AM or UHF. IF I am wrong about any of this I am sure some knowitall will take me out about it. Once you land your wingman is out of the picture, he goes home for a beer, next time you will see him is in a new mission, I have not played that campaign yet but I doubt its any different to normal operating procedures in DCS.
  13. Force Correlate can be used for longer ranges, not sure how helpful that would be, but take a look anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTq2gI3ENSY, or
  14. Thanks bro, been bugging me for ages that, good job.
  15. Anybody know what these are????? I have been looking around but I cannot find a reference to it, I thought 1 may be the pac??? And 2 for ground power??? I also thought I would drop in a pic of my next car, whatcha think, will it have road presence or what? hehe
  16. Tomcutter, you can pay that price if you want to mate, really doesn't bother me, I will just not partake, simple really. So you can pay that price then, I will wait till it's on special and get it at the price I am prepared to pay, so for that you have my thanks. Also you forget I have to deal with an exchange rate down here in africa, that measly $10 is not so measly when converted into my useless and weak currency. One other thing to consider, why would the dev start a thread to justify the pricing? That is very odd to me, the only reason I can think of is they testing the water and they are unsure if this pricing is justified, so they asking you to make them feel better. But anyway I am tired of arguing about this crap, I have been fighting on steam for years to keep the pricing down and all I got was abused by the fanboi's, kinda like what you lot are doing, although you people are pretty mild compared to the communists on steam, but now I just don't use steam anymore, simple, and no loss to me. I love my DCS though I don't want it to turn into steam or uplay for that matter. When I saw that price on the DCS Website I just went cold. Now because of that I will not buy it until it's around $15 on special even if it takes 5 years to get there, in fact I will shy away from this dev in the future, I am stupid like that mate, I stopped smoking cigarettes, and I love smoking, but I stopped smoking because I refused to give my corrupt government any more money than I have too, hehehe. And just another thing, most of the modules I own I bought at full price and not on special, I avoid the specials with DCS, I just don't think its fair on the devs to pay $10 - $15 for a sim, so I just don't do it. I think the only module I bought on special was CA, and if this module never goes on special, then well no real loss either.
  17. I hope these devs don't all start charging this price, I will not pay it sorry, even with your explanation which honestly doesn't hold much water with me., its still too high for me. $49 is fine, I can live with that price tag but any dev no matter who it is charges $59 I just don't buy it, simple.
  18. Ahhh ok, I was wondering this too, I just loaded a whole lot of your sound mods and the A-10c engine is very soft compared to the vanilla one. But if you say its more realistic I will stick with it. Edit: But omg its so so much better with your mods mate, damn....good job.
  19. Its not DCS that does it, it happens with most games I have for some reason, I have had sound issues ever since I bought this notebook a few years ago. Its not very powerful, and I run DCS on 4gb of ram, lol. I can only fly around, I cannot go into target areas where there is is smoke and explosions and tanks moving around, the machine lags so badly I end up in the ground sometimes. So i have just been practicing landing and taking off and navigating and bombing one tank per mission.
  20. I for one was a little disappointed in CA when I first got it, not what I expected but these changes are good, much better, I hope they keep it up.
  21. Turning off the damn APU, I always forget that. You would think I wouldn't with the noise it makes but I do it just about every damn time. Not selecting the weapon I want to use in the dms profile, that one actually stumps me for a few seconds trying to think what I did wrong. Dropping the bombs when I am a ballhair from the target, it hurts when you do that. I am such a noob, lol.
  22. There is a silencer, for that??? Damn I really should read the goddam manual one day.:music_whistling:
  23. Hhahahahahha, I am such a doos, I have ejected more than I have landed, I didn't know you could walk around too, omg I am so slow.
  24. I have lost textures as well, on aircraft skins, most especially the KA-50, some skins don't work at all and some will mess with just the rotors shaft thingy, where the blades connect. I was not all that bothered as I will be upgrading this week and reinstalling, seems that won't solve it then? Here see what I mean, the whole skin is fine except when the blades meet the shaft, that texture is gone:
