  1. Throwing the AP switch on the ground was a workaround to fix the offset taileron trim issue caused by a recent patch (since rectified). I've noticed that the stick moves back to trim nose up when the AP is activated whilst hooked-up to that catapult. If this behaviour is accurately modelled then fabulous. If it isn't, I wondered whether it might be indicative of a wider problem relating to recent AP issues. I marvel at how complex the F-14's systems are and how accurately Heatblur are able to model them. However, a slight issue with one system may impact related systems (including the one in the OP).
  2. For me auto-throttle is now very tricky to engage without looking down. It used to engage anywhere between idle and 66%. Now it's got to be just above idle.
  3. Engaging AP on the ground results in the plane trimming nose down automatically; you see the stick moving forward of its own accord when you throw the AP switch. Is it supposed to do that?
  4. That's what I thought and yet I saw an AI's Mustang with a completely feathered prop (blades perpendicular to the airflow), when it was attempting to crash-land after severe damage sustained in a dogfight over Normandy. I curse myself for not taking a screenshot.
  5. Just been playing Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign. My wingman had a completely feathered prop when he was doing a crash-landing after receiving damage during a dogfight. I wish I'd taken a screenshot. Is this a bug? Also, the A-8 I was firing at took several hits (at close range) before registering damage in that little textbox in the lower right.
  6. Can someone kindly give me a quick explanation of how Ground Track is supposed to work? I use Alt Hold and think the work done on the new AP is wonderful, I just haven't gotten 'round to using GT yet. I can't find a current explanation on Youtube since the AP was updated. Thanks in advance.
  7. Is this perhaps an issue HB can do nothing more about until rectified by DCS?
  8. Same here. Only tried Zone-5 Campaign and practice 1v1 mission in F-14A. Rear horizontal stabs offset upon spawn at ramp, or mid-air. Trim won't bring them into alignment, rendering the F-14 unflyable.
  9. As a workaround, if you select 'Spot' in the Jester menu he unfreezes.
  10. This mission starts at Midnight and yet the brief describes a Case I departure: "Start your engines, taxi to the catapult and launch. Fly on BRC and maintain 300 KIAS at 500' MSL until you're outside 7 miles DME, then go button 2 and check in with Wizard." Shouldn't it be Case III departure procedures?
  11. The recent F-14 Tomcast episode is I'm afraid going to prompt me to ask the obvious question: Do HB still intend doing a TARPS pod? I appreciate a feature is only as good as the people willing to implement its usage into missions/campaigns etc and recce in DCS is a bit of a niche market. Hopefully somebody like Reflected would find a way to incorporate recce missions into one of his future Campaign, or even retrofit into an older one. Adds a bit more variety and we know the F-14 certainly conducted a lot of such missions IRL.
  12. ...it worked that time. I'm guessing it was a case of me straying too far from my flight lead, as you suggested. Lesson learnt. Thanks again
  13. Thank you Reflected, for taking the time to discuss this with me. I'm a huge fan of your work and of course it's most likely something I'm doing wrong. Perhaps I am a little too far to the North of my flight lead (on the missions where he's leading) and maybe I am taking too long to press space once on the range. I shall take a close look at the Action Log, as you've suggested...
  14. In the wild card missions I am being hit by presumably a missile before I even have a chance to turn nose on to the Wildcard. A few seconds after the 'Fight's on!' call is made I am hit with no warning. No sooner does the wildcard show up on radar and I'm dead. Not even time to get the comms menu up to proclaim 'Tally Wildcard!'. For two missions in a row now. It takes a lot of time and effort to get out to the range, only to die instantly. Didn't have this problem the first couple of times I've played the Campaign. Strange.
  15. It's after using the afterburner. Same with ECS switched off. It also happens in single player. Sound comes back below a certain speed (exact criteria is yet to be determined).
  16. ...you cannot hear the cockpit's systems (cooling fans and whatnot). Just the wind whistling past the canopy and compressor whine (and the air-con, if you have it engaged). Sound is restored once you drop back below a certain speed.
  17. When practicing landing at Nellis on a multiplayer server (without using auto-throttle), I lower gear, flaps and the trim gauge automatically climbs about 10 units. The actual trim doesn't seem to match this though and I have to manually add a great deal of trim in order to prevent the nose from dropping sharply. The F-14 has an auto-trim system, does it not? The gauge appears to work but the plane is not trimming itself accordingly. Do I have this wrong?
  18. Do you have any evidence the fire-extinguishers are working? Photos, or video?
  19. Thank you so much. This is basically compulsory for F-14 drivers and I only just stumbled upon it. Little things like this can make a huge difference to immersion and enjoyment overall. Don't suppose there's any chance you can get the engine fire extinguishers working is there?
  20. It's World of Warships mate, but close.
  21. When the AI F-14's cat-launch, all lights go on (except for taxi light) as they go to mil power, and the anti-collision lights flash. The moment the weight is off wheels the anti-collision light ceases. It must be an automatic weight on/off wheel switch. The pilot would have his hands too full to be fiddling with light switches that soon after launch. The WoW automatic light switch isn't modelled in the F-14 module and I suspect it should be. Thoughts?
  22. Thank you. I'd wondered this myself.
  23. If Heatblur is good enough to grace us with the D variant, I think a shiny new cockpit and plane model(rather than the well worn A & B) would be a nice touch. I for one am willing to pay for this module, as I appreciate it would be a great deal of work to produce.
  24. That would make more sense. Silly me
