  1. Night AAR mission. Same issue. Paco not leaving Tanker: Saved Track.trk In the wider game, if the wingman gets stuck with the tanker, asking him to rejoin formation usually works. I am unable to do that in these Campaign missions.
  2. Can we please make gamma more dynamic? Two separate settings for day and night perhaps. I would set mine to 2.2 for day and 2.8 for night. Thank you.
  3. I realised quickly that I needed more practice before even attempting the Fam. Flight. I used Paco's Whiteboards from the Mission Brief doc. to practice the manoeuvres on my own at Nellis. Much to my delight I have been making my way through the missions without disgracing myself. I think I have an average score so far. Obviously in the future I'll play through this incredible campaign again and again, to hone my skills. Thanks for all your hard work Greg. There's so much wonderful detail. You, Meagan and Paco etc have really help make DCS come alive. It has made me respect and admire what people like Meagan went through in the real world. What a wonderful companion this campaign is to the amazing Speed & Angels documentary. P.S. As you suggest, increasing gamma on the night missions is a necessity. It makes night time look far more realistic. DCS needs to make the gamma range more dynamic. Two separate settings for day and night perhaps. I would set mine to 2.2 for day and 2.9 for night.
  4. Oops, as usual there is already a two year-old thread about this subject I didn't see. Apparently it's a problem that's yet to be addressed:
  5. I think the fuel probe light is aimed at the Aircraft Datum Line, to a point just in front of the aircraft. This is no good to anybody, as the the probe is off-set from the ADL by quite a margin. The refuelling probe light needs to be pointed more to the right too, to highlight the basket and some of the tanker. An increase in brightness wouldn't hurt either. Anyway, hopefully the image below helps illustrate what I mean:
  6. The jammer is the domain of the RIO. If you learn the backseat you will see how the jammer operates. The mysterious world of the backseat is something I'll attempt to tackle this year.
  7. I was being a little sarcastic and a little obnoxious I suppose. Apologies. This thread was partly click-bait, to see if Heatblur could be coaxed into making any comment on whether a D is even being considered these days and partly to see what the community felt about a D. Personally I'd like to see some finishing touches added to the A/B: Exterior lights (including the fuel probe light), having the brightness/bloom draw distance work similar to the Hornet/F-16. A partial/complete OBC (On-board Check) system. The ejection seat arming sound loop problem fixed. The RIO's ejection priority handle position indicator implemented. Transonic shock cones. Canopy fog/defog implemented, including windscreen hot air system.
  8. So it shouldn't be too hard to produce a D variant for DCS then? Isn't it just a glorified B, with a HUD from a Hornet and MFD's? Both of which already exist in DCS. Could you elaborate on the maintenance issues with the three systems you mention? I find it a fascinating subject.
  9. Scrapping the D was one of the biggest crimes in engineering history. Not to mention criminal misuse of tax-payer's money. I know the A's and B's were known to be maintenance heavy, but by the time the D came along they worked out a lot of the kinks and built-up tremendous legacy knowledge. Oh well, spilt milk.
  10. ...Or just wishful thinking?
  11. @Elphaba you're a talented guy. I read your thread about flaws in the implementation of weather code. Is there anything you can see in the code that would might help point towards getting the exterior lighting working as it should? It's a problem that seems exclusive to the F-14. The fuel probe lamp has never shed enough light to be useful. The anti-collision and navigation lights don't have the draw-distance (LOD issue?) luminance you see on say the F-16 & Hornet. I envy their awesome looking flashing strobes and glistening green formation lights.
  12. Have the Devs seen this thread? Great analysis by o.p.
  13. Have clouds stopped moving since the last Patch? Either that or they seem to move unrealistically slowly. I appreciate there's a wind speed setting for at least three altitudes, and if they haven't been set-up correctly clouds won't move as they should. I know some missions require clouds to be in certain positions, at specific times, but that should be the exception, not the rule. Overall the sky just feels dead at the moment. A lack of shadows moving over the ground is a huge part of a general feeling of lifelessness. I'm not asking for them to move unrealistically quickly, I'm just asking for a default setting that's realistic.
  14. Reflected's superb tutorial:
  15. Yep, it's definitely a thing.
  16. Of course! That's the way to go. The crew would be wearing masks afterall, so my coughing idea doesn't make a lot of sense. Jester can say something sarcastic like, "Anybody got a light?".
  17. Can anybody think of a way the player can be 'punished', if you've neglected to switch to Left Engine Air Source during refueling? For example, if you've forgotten to switch your Oxygen on you'll see the effects of hypoxia above 20k feet. It's a nice touch. The crew coughing perhaps, to indicate fuel fumes in the cockpit?
  18. Well done. I've been playing through all available F-14 campaigns on a loop. We eagerly await the release of Reflected's Speed & Angels Campaign. Apparently it's completed and in ED's hands. Hopefully we'll see it released very soon.
  19. Dear ED, would you please work with Heatblur to get the exterior lights working as they should on the F-14? I was watching a F-16 taxi down a long taxiway at Nellis. It was during the day and you could see it's strobe flashing from the other side of the airbase. There is very little light bloom on the F-14's exterior lights (and disappear after a short distance), especially the green formation lights that shimmer so wonderfully on the F-18. I'm sure the F-14 has been a big seller for DCS and it's a shame to see it treated so shabbily. Thank you.
  20. The lights still pop in and out at a certain LOD distance for me.
  21. Does this mean the release of Reflected Simulation's much anticipated new campaign, 'Speed & Angels' has been delayed 'til December, or is the ball in ED's court?
  22. Both recent freezes have happened as I turned my head sharply whilst using IR head-tracking. Not sure if that's significant. dcs.log
  23. I recalibrated my flight-stick and this did the trick. Deadzones set back to zero. Thanks for your help @IronMike & @lunaticfringe . Having a few freezes lately though: dcs.log
  24. This is an older video but exactly the same thing happens now, with zero Deadzone. Perhaps you can explain?
  25. A dead-zone of at least 1 is still required in the roll axis, in order for the Heading Hold to 'grab' and level the plane. I appreciate this wasn't listed amongst the fixes. Just wanted to maintain S.A. The latest improvements are fantastic. Thank you HB.
