got it...thank you! It seems as if it is not possible to make a new mission and choose this one as the player controlled aircraft. That's why I was confused The A29 just doesn't appear on the dropdown. But I will use one of the missions included and build from those.

How do you install it?
-
YES! Lookback LEFT and Lookback RIGHT please.
-
Is there a better download link?
-
Can you resize it to make it smaller? IT's huge in VR

VR vs a very large monitor with TrackIR
DerekSpeare replied to Sparrow_1976's topic in Virtual Reality
If a VR device manufacturer could simply give 140 degree FOV and no SDE they would win the internet. -
VR vs a very large monitor with TrackIR
DerekSpeare replied to Sparrow_1976's topic in Virtual Reality
There are no "valid" alternatives to VR with a flat screen. The missing element is the 3rd dimension. Without that, it's just fancier flat screening. (my opinion) -
Best option for in cockpit controls manipulation.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DerekSpeare replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Will the latest version of the Shaders Mod work for DCS version 2.5.6.59625.1 ? -
On some servers you get cold and dark Vipers. To save time I hit the Win+Home to get started quickly. However, I can never get the velocity vector to turn on and show in the hud. Can someone tell me what I am doing incorrectly? Where's the switch located? I believe everything is on like it should be but no VV

And make sure you enable motion reprojection in Steam VR as well.

The image may be marginally "better" by way of colors (maybe), but once I tested the FOV against the G1 I stuck it back in the box and packed it out for return. I don't see 650 bucks of value over the G1. The G1 is superb. Sure, there are some ancillary improvements with the G2, but none where it's needed, mainly the FOV. Until I see the G1 image quality with a 140+ degree fov, I am staying where I am

I did see that! I wrote VRCover a few weeks back to see if they are planning a new facial interface for the G2 that allows for more FOV, but they said the typical, "thanks for the idea...bla bla...". It was Ang up there who claimed more FOV with the G2, but that was bogus. I like my G1. It works for me. Maybe VR cover will come up with a better FOV, but who knows.
-
Better controllers, yes, but I don't use them. Audio? I have muffs. IPD? I'm ok with software controlled. Tracking? Ho hum...it's the same as the G1. But all that is really subjective. What is NOT subjective is the reduced FOV from the G1. That can be measured. It is less than the G1. That alone is the deal breaker. I'll use the money for a new 3080 if they ever go back in stock. The G2 is only beneficial for those not coming from the G1.

I have a G1 and recently received my G2. I'm sending the G2 back. It's marginally better than the G1 with the exception of the FOV, which is worse in the G2.

The oculus software is a pain and wants to run even when the VR application is using Steam VR. I ditched the Oculus software some time ago when I switched to WMR. I don't miss it, but I understand peeps don't want to lose their apps they bought with it. I miss Robo Recall...one of my favorites.
-
You likely can get away with leaving the Oculus software, but since you asked for help, I posted the help I think that's suitable. Do it as you wish, though. It's your show.
-
1 - Uninstall Oculus software 2 - Install WMR (Windows Mixed Reality) 3 - Install Steam VR and opt into the Steam VR beta 4 - Install Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR - https://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/ Then you can run DCS in VR.

Stopwatch overlay for VR? (like SRS or Scratchpad)
DerekSpeare replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
He has a new version with system time and stopwatch. I will leave it to him to post it. but there is a new version. -
I don't think a stopwatch overlay/plugin/doodad exists for us DCS VR pilots (or for the flat earthers). Since having a running timer and stopwatch is part of pilotage, it would be cool if such an add-on existed. Yes, some planes have timers, but some do not. My vision for the stopwach overlay would be simple like the scratch pad or SRS. It would have two timers, one being the elapsed flight/mission time and the other a resettable stopwatch for timing between waypoints. Can someone make one? ED? Can one be made easily? (likely no).

Are you conceiving your guide to be a more user friendly one that is comprehensive like TOGR1F16-CJ? Anyone who makes an effort to make this game more fun/accessible/rewarding/entertaining has my respect.

They should just decouple the mouse from the head movement and make the dot larger and easier to see to make it easy to locate when wanting to use it.
