  1. lol...yes...if only I didn't have to sell a kidney to get a 3080ti...maybe when 2024 rolls around I can get one It would be good for ED to look at optimizing DCS for VR. Perhaps there are things going on in VR that the flat screeners never encounter and that can be optimized to make VR perform the way it should.
  2. the zoom only deals with a faction of the visual field and therefore less demanding it is to render it.
  3. There is no computer hardware available to let DCS run in VR with everything set to anything near maximum; it just doesn't exist. I have a 11700k at ~5 with a 1080ti and Reverb and the best I get with decent visuals is with nearly everything turned down and certainly no campaign or too many objects. Keep your expectations low...but it's worth it for the experience alone. ED has a massive amount of work to do so that DCS can reach its full potential for VR use, though I'm not hopeful they will work at that. NB: if the blessed day ever comes to let me get a 3080ti, i may be able to turn a few things up a click order...maybe.
  4. Sure, but not all of them have the option to urn it on. It's a simple feature to add. Dunno why they've not bothered to do it.
  5. Pilot body is necessary. It would be good to have AND a way to make it ghosted with a keybind when wanting to interact with cockpit control elements when the body gets in the way of seeing them.
  6. Passmark is your friend: #2 single thread CPU https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i9-12900K&id=4597 #1 video card: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+RTX+3080+Ti&id=4409 #5 ssd (that can be bought): https://www.harddrivebenchmark.net/hdd.php?hdd=WD BLACK SN850 2TB&id=27349 Get a suitable Asus motherboard to accommodate your CPU (newest) and sit back and enjoy DCS...it will eat any hardware you can afford to use. Those three components are the core of the build. Spend there and don't waste the bread on any of that other BS like cases...get a good PSU and ram, of course. I've been building my own pc's since 1990. I'd never buy a box one and waste the money. Nowadays they are stupid-easy to build.
  7. Get a good used Reverb for 300 bucks and keep your hard-earned bread in your pocket. Get a 3080ti if you want to spend more money. If you want a good VR experience, the headset is not the first consideration...the CPU and GPU are. DCS wants everything you can afford and then some to run VR well.
  8. Cheers! This mission is using Dynamic weather and I regenerated it again and tried at night and during the day and it seems it's gone. Thanks for the help!
  9. but it's always a good one. If a pc gives me a hassle, I give it a good pressure wash with a syswipe and take it from there. I'd rather take a couple of days reinstalling everything and then configging it than to waste weeks on something only to syswipe it anyhow. I keep a W10 usb stick in my pocket just in case I feel the urge to do it I'd recommend to the OP to reinstall W10 and update it all the way and THEN do WMR, SteamVR and DCS.
  10. Dunno if it's reported or not or even if it's VR only. I updated to the latest Beta today and flew a mission I made some time ago on the Caucus map. It's evening time and the shadows on the water appear to be white and not dark. Moreover, the lighting in the F16 seems off in dark/low light conditions. Here's a screen shot:

  12. Is the link on the first post of this thread still valid for use with with the latest DCS Open Beta?
  13. All they need to do is provide a 130+ degree FOV and have the clarity of the G1 (or better) and they would have a winner.
  14. I have compared both a G1 and G2 in my hands. While I preferred my G1 and shipped back the G2, it seems like the G2 is your only option unless you can get a used G1 in good shape. But perhaps HP will replace your G1. I had mine replaced since it was doing the same thing as yours did. You ought to see if they will replace it.
  15. My post was in the wrong thread. I meant to post in the MB339 thread. Apologies for confusion. My remarks were about the MB339 mod.
  16. I installed the Beta and it works on 2.7, but the clickable cockpit animations are gone, stick, etc. animations are gone and the airspeed indicator is dead. I uninstalled and RIP. I'll wait for when/if ED releases an official version. oops - wrong thread...I meant to put this in the MB339 thread. Apologies for confusion.
  17. The MB339 is a buy for me when it comes out. I don't want it in that other sim...I want it in DCS, too.
  18. Ok, so what is the purpose of this Utility? (I don't have experience with the Oculus tool) Does it do something beneficial?
  19. Use a plane with a clickable cockpit and then use the mouse to interact. Start with a simple plane like the F5. I use a mouse on the right and a trackball on the left and some controller buttons to open up DCS menus. It's really easy to enjoy DCS without a keyboard and in VR. In fact, you should never touch your keyboard in VR since the mouse, HOTAS and button controllers should be doing the job for you. Good luck!
  20. G4560 doesn't have AVX. As I understand it, no AVX. no VR. But one dude on Reddit says he runs the Oculus with that cpu. But in any event, VR will be likely a very poor experience with your hardware, if it will run at all on it and with Windows 7.
  21. Make sure that CPU is using AVX. If not, no VR. VR must have a cpu with AVX. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Vector_Extensions
  22. I am building an 11700k system right now...I have to keep my 1080ti card for lack of 3090's This is replacing the 9600k system and I am hoping for some improvement with the FPS. I'd have gotten the 11900k but there is not much difference than that of the 11700k (for me). This thread gives me some encouragement that I might get a few more FPS
  23. Test it on a second WMR PC to see where to start looking.
  24. My expectation was that it was something in the overclocking settings causing it. I had BSOD issues and needed to dial back my Oc settings to fix it.
