  1. IRL formation lights enable you to fly formation at night. They consist of the green strips (slime lights), which aren't powerful enough to give your position away, but bright enough to be seen by the flight. On the f-18 for say, they mark the nose, tail and vertical stabs. The white lights basically ruin that effect . Better question is does the real A-10 have bright obnoxious white lights that come on with formation lights? https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/32026/why-do-aircraft-namely-military-need-use-formation-lights Updated to add a link.
  2. I brought up printed manuals a while ago in a different thread. Everybody immediately suggested using an IPAD ect. Personally I prefer printed manuals. Way easier to scroll through, bookmark pages, ect. I even suggested these 3rd party developers offer printed manuals as something we could purchase separately. I for one would purchase manuals for every module I own. Having some manuals on lulu.com was a good Idea. Have no ideal why they were taken off.
  3. I purchased bare bones LCD screens from China, plus HDMI controllers from them. They're still too wide, but without the extra plastic for a bezel they fit fine. I used 3M molding tape to attach the Cougar MFD's to them. I included Ebay links to what I purchased. The screens work good, but adjusting the resolution to something high enough for DCS causes the colors to bleed. You switch screens, and you can still see shadows of what was displayed. It fades quick though. I tried searching for square screens, ect... Even found websites that sold replacement ATM machine screens, and came up dry. http://www.ebay.com/itm/narrow-VGA-LCD-Controller-Board-8inch-800x600-AT080TN52-Lcd-screen-/371646490546?hash=item5687db67b2:g:80UAAOSwvg9XUj~i http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-driver-board-work-for-8inch-800x600-EJ080NA-05A-AT080TN52-LCD-panel-/252601883882?hash=item3ad03edcea:g:pDkAAOSwB09YDboO
  4. Has this mod been updated to include the new ground crew commands? I had to disable it, because I couldn't refuel or rearm after landing on a roadway. I'd imagine it's pretty simple to add those commands, but I'm not good at manipulating LUA's.
  5. So I figured out my issue. I still had the _mybuttons mod, to allow the trigger to function as a 3 posit switch enabled. Had to disable that, then all the new command lines popped up. FYI for anyone using that mod.
  6. I cannot find the control assignments in the adjust control settings, to set the key commands. Gone through line by line, searched "ground crew" ect.. What are the action lines called? Guess to simplify my question.. If the above doesn't work, what are the titles for the assignments to manually set them?
  7. I was a jet mech. in the US Navy. I was low and high power engine qualified on F-18's. A big part of that job was running the engines up for testing and trouble shooting. I also got a cat shot in a C-2A Greyhound off the flightdeck of the USS Nimitz. Returned to the ship a couple days later in the back of an H-60. My first commnand was a Marine/Navy squadron in North Carolina. I got a few rides in CH-53E's there.
  8. I own the A-10, F-5, Viggen and Mig-21. For the money nothing comes close to the 21 (in my opinion). It feels, "alive" in that it really draws you into the module, landing is always a challenge, plus it's quite capable in a2a and a2g. My second choice would be the Viggen you can outrun your enemies if need be, carry more air to air than an f-5, and pre plan low level strikes. I always feel out gunned in the F-5. You only get 2 sidewinders, and it's hard to put an iron bomb on target. Not to mention it's quite under powered compared to the other two jets. Just my two cents.
  9. I just tried reactivating the mig 21 in alpha prior to reading this warning. Will that mess things up once alpha gets patched?
  10. At least controls for the gunpods are back. Haven't tried nukes or countermeasures yet.
  11. I'd be happy to have the RB-75 / radar cursor fixed. Having one reversed always throws me off. I'd imagine that couldn't be too big of a fix.
  12. Glad I found this post. Figured I was missing a step. Had this same issue in 2.0 multiplayer. Cockpit was set up as I had done a million times. Couldn't get a tone on SU-27's or a Mirage 2k.
  13. I had the same issue. Realized you have to click the box that says normalize audio. Otherwise the song will convert, but wont be playable in the viggen.
  14. I got the latest update, and haven't had any re-arm problems. I launched 2 RB-4s. rearmed with RB-75s, and launched those at a different set of targets. 1.5.6.1938 is the latest, and I had to force the update.
  15. While plying with RB-75's I learned they can be fired while you're on the ground. Is that a bug, or does the Viggen not have some sort of ground safety? Thanks
  16. According to the change log this issue will be fixed, hopefully next update. Sounds like there'll even be a way program weapons on the kneeboard. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=181548
  17. I've noticed static Viggens have their canopies, and ejection seats missing. Also happens on AI flights after the pilot exits the cockpit. I don't know if this has been addressed already. Tried to find a similar thread, and failed.
  18. I'd say that's more than just the tip! :)
  19. Free flight
  20. I used to listen to Erotic City (Prince) while flying Twin Cobra on my old Nintendo. Think I'm going to have to relive those days with the Vigwalkman!
  21. I remember seeing a video once of a pilot less harrier. The RAF scrambled tornadoes to shoot it down, but decided not to since it was over open ocean. Couldn't find the video, but found this article. Have no idea if it's from the same incident. http://articles.latimes.com/1987-10-24/news/mn-4095_1_royal-air-force
  22. I thought it would be fun to show off how we've set up our DCS rigs. It may help give each others ideas, when it comes to multiple screens, controls ect... Mine isn't the fanciest, but it gets the job done for now.
  23. Good to know. I bought a USB adapter from them for my cougar throttle. The package came open and empty. After getting the run around from the Spanish and US post office I gave up on a refund
  24. http://realsimulator.com/html/fssb_r3_warthog.html I'm curious about this setup myself, but 500 bucks seems expensive. Anybody test it out?
