Hahaha... Check and mate! I start my weekend at 8am Pacific time. By the time I rush home at break neck speed it'll be ready to download!
-
Can we please get these into the next available update? They're actually quite important! This mod is a life saver, but it gets old having to replace the files every update. Especially now when it looks like there are tons of updates coming. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

Maybe make a straight step-by-step tutorial video on this? Getting rid of the chatter with the wingmanwould make it easier to follow along. Good stuff though, wish they would update the manual to include things like this.

just a minor visual blemish. Looks like there's a crack in the cockpit. It's the same in the English cockpit too. Haven't tried the Russian one

As far as the US Navy goes, I'd say doubtful. You've got your RAG squadrons (replacement air group) also known as FRS (Fleet replinishmentt squadrons). The west coast it was VFA-125, and in the East VFA-106. Their roles were to replenish the fleet with qualified hornet pilots. A secondary role was to supply a squadron with a jet if one was needed. An example is, a squadron plants a jet in the ground. The FRS would be tasked with providing a similar lot / age jet with the one that was lost. The FRS squadrons maintain a ton of jets, of all lots and ages, not to mention A-D models. With the surplus of jets they maintained there would be no need to convert one. Not to mention the US navy never developed the D as a combat capable aircraft. Back when I was in the navy our sister squadron lost a jet to a mishap right before deployment. The FRS transferred them one that had been used as an aggressor in a previous lifetime. They deployed with 11 gray jets, and one in a desert camo scheme because there was no time to paint it the same as the rest. I speak in past tense because VFA-125 now trains JSF pilots. I have no idea what 106 is up to nowadays.

I agree with you 100%. Not to mention now we've got the Tarawa, and soon some carrier updates with the hornet. Think that's going to make the Vegas map even more unpopular on multiplayer, but still a good training map. I wish ED would just include NAS Lemoore, and Fallon, to the Vegas map, and rename it something like a US Southwest training region. Both of those bases would fit within that region, and it would be awesome to spool up a hornet in Lemoore, and fly to Fallon or NTTR to kick of a training session. It would be the first Red flag campaign where you could actually transit from your home base to the ranges. Could make for some fun long strike missions too. Both realistic scenarios for the hornet, to depart from Lemoore, and deliver warheads in Vegas, followed by a return home. Then you follow that up with a, "deployment" onboard a carrier to the gulf. We could recreate a deployment workup cycle that way.

The fog has finally been lifted! Even if it wasn't by the doings of Magnitude.

Looks like the last naval legacy hornet deployment was completed recently. It would be nice to pay homage by having the CAG skin from the article included at some point. Also, I did my first deployment on the Vinson back in 2001. https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2018/04/16/navys-fa-18-legacy-hornet-completes-its-sundown-cruise-aboard-the-carrier-vinson/

Thanks. I'll give it a try once the update finishes.

Not really a bug, but more of a problem for me. Can anyone suggest a good curvature setting for the radar stick? I have a Warthog throttle, and have the radar curser's bound to the axis. Problem is when I try a radar fix for my bk-90's it seems I cant make a fine enough adjustment to put the cross over the black blob. Even when it looks like I'm over the target my bk-90's miss. Sometimes they blow up right next to the target, probably less than a football field, and sometimes they're about a half mile off. Using the f10, and measurement tool. I'm guessing it's because I didn't get the cross centered? The mission I've been practicing on has buildings, and about 10 armored vehicles. Tried to throw in enough armor to get a decent radar return. Thanks.

Did you read his readme file? When you copy the files, you're only copying the .dds. Don't copy the desciption.lua files each folder has it's own. You only need to copy the picture files. It took me a bit to figure this mod out too. Worth it in the end though.
-
If you have the Devrim English cockpit mod he only includes textures for one of the models to cut the file size. You have to copy and paste the files into the other models cockpit folders. Found a video on how to do it
-
Your cockpit texture files are missing. Did you install a 3rd party cockpit or anything?
-
With multiple monitors you used to be able to adjust the viewpointhandeling.lua to resize the kneeboard. Since the last update, if you modify that file, it seems like all the displays go black.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Thought the reason early tomcats had TF-30's was because the navy couldn't get out of the contract with Pratt and Whitney? The F-111 couldn't be made light enough for carrier op's, so the navy got out of that contract. However, the engines were on their own forms.

I'd say now is the perfect time to get into the Harrier. It has enough systems in place that you can fight, and fly it. One of the last updates fixed the the big TPOD issue, so you can actually use it to lase your own targets. Working the pod, and firing mavericks took a little getting used to compared to the A-10. I feel like getting a module like this in it's early stages breaks up the task of learning all the systems since they all don't come with the early access. Plus it seems like RAZBAM is doing a good job of regular updates and fixes.

Are there any plan to fix the back lighting for gauges in 2.X? The Mig-21 is probably my favorite aircraft. Frustrating to try and use it in Nevada though. The canopy goes white during the daytime, and I cant read out the gauges at night.
-
It's a hornet from a test and evaluation squadron. Not uncommon to see them flying jets in configurations that would never hit the fleet. Another thing to note is some of the 120's are live (yellow and brown bands) and others inert (blue bands).

Just crawled out of bed, and saw the Hornet was on pre-purchase. Before I even brushed my teeth, I was online ordering. 80 bucks for what promises to be the most detailed simulation ever. I'd pay that all day, but 60 bucks is even better. Military themed flight sims were dead before ED came along. Dropping money on these things is what helps keep this hobby going. Hell getting Boeing to license the product had to be pretty penny for ED. Not to mention all the research and development that went into the jet, and it's system. I for one am glad to show my support, by making a first day purchase.

Would a similar mod to the Tarawa's LUA allow for it to have a TACAN?
-
What's that hobo patch doing in there? :) My not so subtle hint to keep the Shrikes as the default skin!
-
Looks really good. Where can you find the box to mount the switches in?
-
I feel like you described the old Microprose Tornado sim to a, "T." I spent so much time on that back in the day. Thats my idea of a fun aircraft to carry out deep strike missions.
-
Personally I prefer the center line for the TPOD. Every other station robs you of a perfectly good place to hang a bomb.

Very impressed with the detail. Right down to cycling the bleeds to reset the bleed air valves. Even have the sound of air rushing through the cockpit after. very nice. In the real jet I never tried cycling the battery to test the second fire loop, just waited a few seconds. Awesome job, brought back tons of good memories!
