Just got my kit, and installed it with no issues. The fit and finish looks so good you wouldn't know the throttle didn't come like this. Very nice quality, and miles ahead of the trackball the quadrant came with.

Would be nice if someone at Razbam could sort this out. It's a pain in the neck.

Just ordered that mini stick. Can't wait to get it and install it. Looks like they're on pre order until sometime in February though. Going to be a long wait.

Like a lot of you, I've pleaded and begged for NAS Fallon, and more importantly (At least to me) NAS Lemoore since the NTTR map was released. They're both important navy bases, which fit into the area covered by this map. Having them would make for some interesting long range strikes, which could utilize tanker support to fly realistic distances to the target ranges. Lemoore would also be the realistic home for the F/A-18C's Lot 20 on the west coast. For me it would also be awesome to fly over the base I spent most of my navy career at, not to mention the Fresno area, which would be a big city, and the surrounding parks like Yosemite, and The Sequoias. However, at the end of the day Eagle Dynamics is a money making machine. Lets face it. The NTTR map wasn't the most popular one released by ED. Most people can't see spending money to fly and fight over the SW United states. Therefore the powers that be in ED, are not going to dump anymore money into expanding the map. Wags has discussed this before, and in so many words has said there are zero plans to add this map. Not trying to be a Negative Nancy, I just want to point out that this argument has been made time and time again.

The frustrating thing is the real estate is already within the existing map, which would make this version of the world seem a little less fragmented vs. later coming out with a separate, unconnected map. You'd have enough room to do long range strikes ect... The area that encompasses NAS lemoore is even represented within the existing boundaries.

Some of the flood lighting is now incorrectly tied to the console light switch. So if you rotate that you now get flood lights

Couldn’t of said it better. These guys put their heart and soul Into this project, and asked nothing from us. -

There is something so awesome about flying this beast over the deserts of Nevada. It just feels at home there! -

I'm absolutely blown away by the detail of this mod. It's on par with the full blown modules, amazing! Thank you guys for the hard work and effort! -
Is Anti-Skid supposed to be On for Carrier Ops/Takeoff?
sideshow replied to Snacko's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Anti-skid should be off for the ship. The purpose of the advisory, which is different than a caution, is to remind you the switch is off. That's important say, you depart the ship, hit targets over land, and for whatever reason can't make it back to the ship. Scanning the advisories should remind you to flip that switch prior to landing at your divert field. I've seen that scenario play out in real life, but the pilot forgot to engage anti-skid. Ended with a rescue det to the beach to fix the jet which had brake damage, and was off a runway. -
** AJS-37 Viggen Update! New Afterburners & Features! **
sideshow replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
I absolutely agree. I briefly tried the 3rd party English cockpit. It really screwed up the learning process. Had to go back to the default one. -
Thanks, that fixed it. Just noticed the menu showed as if the commands were bound to the pinky switch.
-
The exterior lights switch on and off menu commands are now mapped to the Strobe lights control switch. So now there's no way to kill all lights with the master switch as in the real jet.

Funny. I'm flying right now and just noticed this. Thought it was me until I hopped on my phone and found this post. Even with HSEL, the thing keeps a slight left roll past the heading bug. The FCS page shows the ailerons are zeroed out, but still holds a slight left hand bank.

So I did some more digging and cranked my GPU fan curves way up. Noticed the forward fan on my 1080TI was not spinning regardless of what set point's I used to try to max the fans out. I can spin it by hand and it freewheels, but just wont turn on regardless of temps or fan curves. Also removed the card and inspected the wires. Nothing seemed out of place. Can anybody else with a 1080 TI, that's having crash issues, confirm this?
-
Like most of you I've been trying to figure out why my DCS keeps crashing. I also have a 1080TI, like most of you. I started displaying my GPU temps and fan speed in game and noticed for me the crash would occur at 71-72 deg Celsius. It also showed the GPU fans running about the same in percent speed. I figured that was way too cool to crash the card, but noticed the graphics card was also quite warm to the touch. The exhaust practically melted the skin off my leg. I removed the side cover, and placed a box fan next to computer, blowing air inside. The temps will still get to around 70 or so, but absolutely no crash. Prior to this I also reapplied thermal compound to the CPU, thinking that was the culprit, and tried running DCS with the case open, but no box fan on. Both of those were unsuccessful. Makes me wonder if there's something screwy with the latest drivers for the 1080TI. Prior to the last update I never noticed the computer feel as warm, and did not have issues with crashes.

Another good video that shows the difference between the windscreen and canopy.

Honestly it wouldn't be too far fetched for blivets to be included in DCS. The A-10 has them. Plus you can load a drop tank on the A-10 in sim. Tanks aren't combat rated on the A-10, so presumably it's for ferrying the jet.
-
That's the name I was looking for! I got out in 09 and we still called them blivets. They're also good for ferrying parts cross country if a jet breaks too. If memory serves correctly we'd take one to the ship, but it would spend it's time up in the rafters with the spare tanks.

The hornet can carry a personal effects pod for dets. I don't know the technical name, but imagine the harrier drop tank with the rear half removed, also a big door cut into the side of it. The door gets secured with a series of fastners... They'll usually carry those when going on a cross country det. When going to the boat the squadron packs up a few days early. There are some big boxes called Tri-walls that get set up in the hanger. Everybody piles their personal gear, as well as tools, books ect into them. Some are marked to go to the hanger, some to the flight deck. The boxes get loaded up into contracted 18 wheelers, and driven to where the squadron catches the ship. Personnel fly out on C-40's (with an exception of the pilots who get picked to fly to the ship). Once at the ship location, IE NAS North Island, the squadron sets everything up once the trucks arrive. Bunch of union types run cranes loading everything on elevators to go up to the flight deck or hanger deck. Pilot gear, usually gets staged in the ready room where they can collect it and put it where they need it. The first day after the ship pulls out of port is a big fly in, where all the jets come out to meet the ship. I was stationed in Lemoore, so our jets would fly directly from there to the boat off the CA coast. Naval aviation is like a family. So being our people would already be at the ship location a sister squadron would be tasked with launching our jets, or fixing anything that broke when they tried launching. The squadrons that came from the east coast, like Tomcats when we had them, would fly to California a few days early, stage in CA, then fly to the ship as part of the fly in.

KB4345421, which is a cumulative update, and KB4338832, which is a security update. They installed on my system around July 11th originally. I disabled both, and have had no issues with game crashes. They reinstalled, because I forgot to turn auto-updates off, and the crashes came back. I disabled them again, turned auto-updates off, and haven't had any issues. I'm pretty sure the conflict is somewhere in those updates. I haven't tried installing either one separately to determine which one is causing the issues. My graphics card is a 1080ti, with the latest drivers.
-
So I think I may have found a fix for the crashes. I uninstalled last weeks windows security and OS updates. So far things are going smoothly. We'll see how long it lasts though.
-
You spoiled guys and your 20 minutes of play. Mine's been crashing around five. I wish there was some information, or acknowledgement of this issue. Seems like it's widespread. I've tried everything I could think of, and still no luck on resolving this.

Uploading my log. I've had the game freeze up and crash without warning the past few attempts to fly. dcs.log-20180715-012448.zip
