DCS: F-14 CASE I Carrier Landing Tutorial
StandingCow replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Thanks for the video Mav, can't wait to give this a try! -
I got banned from their discord for pointing it out, lol.

Congrats Heatblur! I am sure we will all love the Tomcat and the work each of your folks put into it. :)

Eagle Dynamics (DCS) have received a PiMax 5k
StandingCow replied to Naruto's topic in Virtual Reality
Yea, 2 big things I am waiting for before I make the move to fly mostly VR: - Performance (Foveted/fixed rendering, DCS side improvements as well) - Comfort (I am waiting on pimax to release their ridged strap) -

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
StandingCow replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I'd argue it is realistic actually (which can be a problem). The US has a massive air force so it's not crazy to think they would have a lot more planes in the air. It could however be called unbalanced... but then again red side seems to win plenty. -
Nah, in a simulator there is no such thing as "balance". The planes are just release based on popularity and available knowledge.

MK-83 is my go to unguided bomb for tanks.

- As others have said... the amount of work that goes into a module justifies the price (this may be subjective) as just one module takes 4+ years of work... which is the length of time an entire AAA game can take to make. - Early access is clearly stated as the state the module is currently in, if you don't feel an unfinished product is worth it I suggest waiting until it is out of early access before purchasing. Most products out there go into early access at their full release price. - Yes, the game has sales now and then. - Any plane from roughly the same era can compete with any other... it really comes down to the pilot. The hornet will have more features than another other aircraft in DCS to aid in situational awareness but in the end it all comes down to the pilot.

Multicrew - Can't slew camera left and right
StandingCow replied to DrummerNL's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ah ok, was just curiosity, didn't know if they wrote their own code and you all used ED code or how it worked. Appreciate the answer. -
Multicrew - Can't slew camera left and right
StandingCow replied to DrummerNL's topic in Bugs and Problems
So... I have a question... why is heatblur not having issues with multicrew and polychop are? Are they attempting to implement it in different ways? -
Agreed, the other weird thing is how natural a landing can come to in in some cases... then other times just like a real pilot you can be "in the barrel" and just can't seem to put it down without a lot of effort.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
StandingCow replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Thought I wasn't in the english subforum for a second there... Edit: nevermind, posts were deleted. -
I think the bigger deal for us DCS players will be fixed foveted rendering which should be in the next pitool version. Could potentially give us "up to" 25% performance gains. So, that mixed with hopefully some DCS optimizations will help us out.

Well, I mean... it's just about as good as taking the word of a guy named "sn8ke" on a video game forum.

You will find out when they do or do not release patch notes!

It won't and the higher VRM temps actually don't really mean much of anything since VRM can handle very high temps with no negative effect. I think what DID upset a lot of people was the seemingly deceptive marketing by ASUS... I for one also changed to a different brand because I also felt the marketing was deceptive and the board was overpriced for what you got. See buildzoid video here:

The only negatives with the pimax for DCS (well anything really) right now is the headstrap... and with a lower PD setting it is painful to wear. There is a mod you can do to use the vive deluxe headstrap but I might just wait to see what pimax comes out with, not sure yet. The other is performance, but that's not really pimax specific... although Pimax's brainwarp may help since it can make lower FPS look smooth when you turn down the HZ of the display. The rest is up to ED to fix.

There are a LOT more uses of VR besides video games... from designing cars, etc in the commercial sector to watching movies, sporting events, etc in the consumer market. VR isn't limited at all to just video games, that is only a small percentage. Just a few examples: https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-introduces-virtual-reality-experiences/c-279085566 https://nflcommunications.com/Pages/NFL-and-NextVR-Return-for-Second-Season-of-Virtual-Reality-Experiences.aspx https://www.nextvr.com/wwe Can't afford or don't have the room for a nice home entertainment area? Or don't want to go to the movies? You can sit in a huge theater or watch a movie on the moon on a big screen. Want to feel like you are at a concert but not actually go? Buy a VR ticket. https://www.nextvr.com/live-nation VR even helps those with things like flight anxiety, since you can power some of the headsets with phones.
