  1. I thought those that would own the more detailed carrier would just see it while others that didn't own it would see the less detailed one?
  2. We need a Victory205 "sea stories" thread, I love reading this stuff! Or maybe we could talk you into going on Aircraft interviews? I loved Okie's session.
  3. I didn't touch the ACM switch, I was doing the lock via PAL mode though.
  4. Yea, he definitely does not give you the IFF information 100% of the time. I had someone locked up via PAL mode multiple times in MP (because I wasn't sure if I trusted jester) and he wouldn't tell me if he was friendly... would just say "target 10 miles or whatever". I VID'd and it was a friendly tomcat, thank goodness I didn't shoot.
  5. That's.... wow... try running a repair?
  6. They said on the vkb forums after summer... not sure if that means no news until after summer or the release will be Q3-Q4 in 2019. Being patient is hard, I can't wait to replace my temp throttle (t1600m).
  7. I use this and love it: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=159647
  8. Keep in mind with Glock (blacking out) that it takes time too, the blood has to drain from your brain which isn't instant. So if you do a quick snap pull for whatever G amount you will not black out, at least I don't think so in real life... I know in DCS you sometimes instantly black out on cat shots but I don't think that is realistic.. imo anyway.
  9. Victory would be able to provide a lot more info than me, but I don't think you should be doing a 6 G break turn at that speed while that low... but I am not at my PC right now so I can't test it. You don't happen to have tacview do you? Or can you recreate what you did and keep an eye on the G meter in the cockpit? As far as feedback in modern vs WW2 aircraft my point was more that in a WW2 airframe, since it is slower, you will get more feedback before something breaks vs a modern aircraft that can be going mach 1.6+ where it can suffer an instant catastrophe due to the stresses much more easily.
  10. You cannot compare a jet fighter to anything in IL2, they are totally different airframes. I have flown the F14 for... I dunno between 60-90 hours and have never once broken my wings or over-G'd the aircraft... I did however smack into the back of the ship once... point is you need to find out what you are doing wrong and correct it. Are you really going to tell an actual F14 pilot that he isn't correct? To quote Victory in a previous post of his:
  11. Ah, yea... this has been there since day 1, I remember my rio asking if I forgot something... "No, why"?
  12. Were you pulling neg G's during the drop like still stick forward? I have done that before.
  13. How close to the ground did you get? I think either you ran into your own bomb (pulling neg Gs when dropping) or your bomb fragmentation hit you.
  14. Yea, that would be a good question for Victory, if that dampening prevented quick pulls. Okie said somewhere in his interview that when they changed the dampening on his stick without telling him he pulled... 10 or 11 Gs by mistake since he was used to having to pull harder. That would make me think you are correct about quick pulls.
  15. I am not the best pilot.. but I haven't managed to break my wings in about 60 hours or so of flight (bombing, A/A, and missile dodging). If you are breaking your wings you are doing something wrong.. either pulling sudden G's by jerking the joystick (pilot won't have time to black out as others have said) or pulling too hard. Remember the F14 doesn't have any systems in place to limit you like the F18 has.
  16. Added to my audible list, thanks!
  17. Roll SAS on vs off sounds like it is up to the pilot, per Okie on the aircraft interview channel a Top Gun instructor told him to keep it on... so that's what he did. But I am sure as Victory confirmed, some turned it off.
  18. It's called open BETA for a reason.
  19. Sometimes gameplay has to trump realism. It's a balance that I think ED does well.
  20. Thing is, Star Citizen times slip constantly as well, it's nice that they are so open but with that openness comes a lot of risk (which ED is aware of as they have run into it before as well). It's just part of programming as a whole, not just video games, bugs creep up, things don't work as expected... and stuff is delayed.
  21. I suggest you avoid early access products if you aren't happy with an incomplete module.
  22. I need to kidnap myself a human RIO. :D
  23. Not always, as I said in my example I had someone locked up and Jester wasn't saying anything more about the target... I had a bad feeling so I decided to VID, sure enough it was a friendly F14 (weather was bad, so it was hard to tell). USUALLY he does say, "We've locked a friendly." or something similar, but in this case he said nothing. I even unlocked and relocked to see if that would make him say something, this was on the GAW multiplayer server.
  24. Lots of people (myself included) have trouble spotting planes in DCS, labels are helpful but you don't want to depend on them for when/if you eventually make the move to multiplayer. What resolution monitor do you play on? The higher the res the harder it is to spot stuff.
  25. Or maybe when you call in to land/inbound at the carrier it turns into the wind.
