  1. VKB Gunfighter is amazing, lots of buttons and the base feels really good, very smooth and always returns perfectly to center as long as you adjust it properly and calibrate with their software. I have crosswinds instead of the VKB Pedals so I can't really comment on that. Track IR would be a fantastic item for you to buy as well.... VR with the current gen isn't "there" yet imho. The new pimax devices may change that but I am still waiting on mine to arrive and they don't go on sale to the general public until next year some time.
  2. That AND he had in game up to like 2.0 or so.... which is nuts.
  3. They are taking it very serious and just as (if not more) frustrated as their customers. They stopped giving estimated release dates because when those estimates fell through people would throw a fit and complain that they don't keep their promises. I get the feeling that both VKB and Virpil (because they were having or are still having stock issues as well) underestimated just how huge the market was for high end joysticks.
  4. Keep in mind he isn't a huge DCS player... not sure if he had his settings done correctly. Looks like his SS is set to possibly 2.0? That is nuts... on top of that steam 30% SS. I think we will get a much better idea once primary DCS players get their hands on it, like Jabbers.
  5. This is my kinda thread. :D
  6. Another comparison video, think this is just cementing my 5K+ decision:
  7. Doing night time ILS landings *shudder* both I and my wingman (1 mission I had the error the other mission my wingman had the error) I noticed my TACAN wasn't updating distance to the carrier, I had to toggle A/A on then back off. 8. Hopefully Intel entering the graphics card space will give the market a swift kick.
  9. Yea, I am 4,443... so you got me beat! :D
  10. Right now the real answer is we don't know yet because of the rushed launch and lack of support for things like ray tracing and DLSS. Once games have time to implement these new features we will know the entire story. I play on VR as well and was really eager for the new cards, but much like flat screen gaming... we don't yet know how much of an impact DLSS will have. Something like DLSS should be huge for VR (offloading anti-aliasing to tensor cores).... but again it isn't implemented in many titles yet. Since the 1080ti and 2080 are so close in price I would go for the 2080 for the possibility of DLSS being a big deal, in the video I linked below if you factor in DLSS support the 2080 is 50% faster than a 1080ti which is pretty awesome.
  11. The implementation of DLSS will be the make/break for this generation of cards. Right now not many games (heck just 1 I think) use it, but if game devs pick it up it should be a pretty big difference maker. I am holding off to see if games I play (DCS being the major one) will implement it once they make the move to Vulcan. If they do that alone could possibly be a reason to buy the 2000 series of card.
  12. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/ is a good resource for judging if you should install the latest drivers and if there are issues. People are pretty quick to post comparison benchmarks within days. As an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/9h7o74/driver_41163_faqdiscussion/
  13. Agreed, until we get news on DLSS on DCS and other games I have no interest in the 2000 series cards. Now if DLSS becomes a much bigger deal and we can offload anti-aliasing that will be a big deal. This is just a horrible rushed launch. Found a cool video talking about DLSS:
  14. I am sure the entire ED team would agree with that. :D
  15. It's really a shame how the vocal minority can really ruin things for the silent majority, I have seen this impact the communication dev teams have with users in multiple games, heck even hardware guys (VKB) are doing this.
  16. Totally agree, some people had a really unfair advantage with the older system, a year or so ago we were playing with a dude that used a larger TV with I think a 1080p resolution and he was spotting planes 20 miles or so out, me and my buddy were shocked at what a disadvantage we had. 4-5 miles seems reasonable and realistic.
  17. Sounds like the 5k+ is the most recent version from their lessons learned.
  18. I am 90% sure that I am. The 8K is probably not going to get clearer as it is a limitation of the upscaler chip. Edit: The emotional rollercoaster continues:
  19. Keep in mind things like 3D mark aren't the best for judging performance, what's better is actual FPS numbers in games (like Jay said). The 2080 performed about the same as a 1080ti and it's 100 bucks more, this hasn't been the case in past generations. The 2080ti is a beast but price to performance is pretty screwed up for those that care about price. If you run 1080p stick with a 1080ti, 1440p and up (including) would benefit from a 2080ti.... but man that increase in price is nuts.
  20. BVR the F15C. Once the dogfight starts probably the edge to the su27. imo
  21. Another video comparison:
  22. Heck, women can pull more Gs generally due to their smaller body mass.
  23. Yep, that image from the sweviver review is what really has me leaning heavily toward the 5K+. It won't be too long before an even better VR headset comes out so even if they do something with the 8k upscaler that makes it look better something else won't be far off.
  24. P51 mustang for me...
  25. Reading more and more that the 5k+ is the way to go especially for simulations. The 8k has less SDE but it is a bit blurry (assumed due to the upscaler). The 5k+ runs at native resolution which makes it clearer. I might just be switching to the 5K+. From:
