I gave it a try earlier and indeed, you can run 3200rpm without MW-50 for more than 3 mins. I don't know if you can run it indefinitely, but clearly something has changed since the MW-50 bug when I last flew her. If I remember correctly, the official docs specify that the Combat power should be 3000rpm and Emergency power should be 3200 for a short period of time, 3 min or so, and 3250 rpm only with MW-50. Before the mentioned bug, I remember that anything over 3000rpm w/o MW-50 would destroy the engine. Some 'official' opinions on this would be great.

Like I said.. do not exceed 3000rpm if MW50 is not engaged.

As a rule of thumb, you don't touch the radiators as you don't need to, in any circumstances. Just be gentle on the throttle and you're doing fine. To put the cowl flaps on Auto mode you have to Close them with a single press of the button, after you Opened them. If I (rarely) feel the need to open the radiators (just before engaging MW50), I just make 2 taps on the Open button let it a few seconds and then one tap on the Close button and everything is normal, even in full power. Btw, do not exceed 3000rpm if MW50 is not engaged. That's all about Dora's radiators. Have safe flights!

Spit is the easier one to defeat. Just boom'n'zoom it till death. His death. With the Pony you have to work a little bit more, just keep your energy higher than his. SA is essential here. If he manages to get on your tail, DO NOT panic, just do a few rolling scissors with it and you'll find yourself, magically, behind him. Her higher roll rate will make sure you will. Don't yank on the stick, you'll lose the fight that way. Remember, tactics is what makes you win a dogfight.

Me neither, and I'm pushing her to the max. She's the best fighter at the moment in DCS but you have to know her. If you yank on the stick like the Spit or Pony driver do, she won't forgive you. Learn to tame her and then you'll find that both Spit and Pony will find their doom quite easily.

I enjoy it In the end it is about having fun, besides those extremely boring 'airquake' servers. Kudos to Heavy[VR] whose perseverance I much admire, he was a worthy opponent these last days as we fought for Maupertus, Azeville, Needs Oar Point or Funtington. It was really fun, but we only proved that 1v1 is a 'no go' for capturing any airfield across the Channel.

Dogfighting is like chess or GO.. even if you know how to move the pieces you still don't know how to play the game.

Rule of thumb.. you will never learn anything unless you compete with your peers.

I'm 'afraid' that DCS is not here to make business but to share 'some' knowledge so any great plans we would have for them is futile. I believe we already went too far with this discussion. It all depends on the subscription fee and the benefits you'll get comparing to the current model. Zaelu gave a few examples on how it can be implemented. You forget a few things, one of them is that it takes quite some time to fully develop a module and any enterprise needs cash flow, hence the early alpha releases. Having subscribers and a steady monthly income would help a lot in paying the employees. Another one which is closely related is that instead of peeps saving money to buy a single module they would actually pay the devs so they can enjoy ANY module. You compared it with food, DCS is NOT a daily necessity (for some, it is :) ) and the poll would tell us that about a quarter of us would easily become subscribers and would pay whatever fee just to be able to have access to everything ED and 3rd parties have to offer. You also attract new people by having subscribers pay 20$ for all modules instead of 80$ on a single module.

People don't understand that DCS is a 'niche' product, a product that requires many man hours of R&D and a subscription model would really help ED become better. At least, they could 'split' the fan base into two categories: subscribers and non-subscribers and offer some advantages for the first category, a model which all parties would benefit from.

If ED cares for the standards that they set by themselves, then they should upgrade all modules, not only Dora.
