Does this work with the latest OB patch?
-
Yeah I agree, Maybe figure out which ones it is and then make a bug report listing them? "Default skins missing mip-maps" or something like that in the bug section. I'd do it but I don't have the time right now.

HMCS symbology intensity knob to INC turning speed on button press
Deano87 replied to skywalker22's topic in Wish List
Just turn it up to the correct setting at the start of the mission and then use “DMS down long” to show/hide it during the flight? -
I doubt it has any major negative effects, it's such a small change as far as sq.ft or frontal area, it's more about better creation and control of the vortices that shed off the LERX and ILS strakes and how that affects the aerodynamic performance of the wing and the pitch/roll authority of the flaperons. And that only really comes into effect once the jet has some AoA, at high speed I imagine any extra drag would be negledable.
-
I believe it's mostly from the improved vortex generation caused by the LEX and cockpit-side strake mod that increase overall lift at landing AoA.

need track replay Gun Cross below horizon Hud Horizon estimation Wrong?
Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes.. Just a tiny bit below the horizon. In that first video you its 2.5 degrees below the horizon, which is excessive imho. Take a look at some other HUD tapes that are out there and see what you can find. Like I've said before I think a softer nose gear would add a bit more of the characteristic F-16 bobbing on the ground and also bring the gun cross down a bit. -

Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
End of this video shows the gun cross above the horizon line as the jet comes to a stop on the end of the runway. So i dunno. Yes and the gun cross is in a different place to your original video. Also depends where in the alignment process it is. -
need track replay Gun Cross below horizon Hud Horizon estimation Wrong?
Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, but that requires a slope in front of the camera, exactly what I said. Military airfields are most of the time pretty flat, if that horizon line is correct than it means there is a 3 degree slope between the hangar that the aircraft is in, and the row of trees. or that the F-16 is 20 feet taller than it should be. Remember, if the horizon line goes through it then the HUD of the jet is at the same elevation as what the horizon line intersects. Neither of these scenarios are sensible, therefor the horizon line isn't in a correct place because the jet hasn't aligned yet. I agree with you that the gun cross is perhaps in the wrong place compared to the horizon line, But I don't think that video shows it well, because it's clear the jet is still going through the startup process. There are lots of F-16 onboard videos.. Maybe look for some more. -
need track replay Gun Cross below horizon Hud Horizon estimation Wrong?
Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
Look at the trees across the taxiway, the horizon line is up near the top of the trees, the only way that can be correct is if the taxiway in front of the aircraft is a massive down slope, or the undercarriage on that F-16 is 20ft tall. And since most modern airfields are pretty flat, I'm gonna say that line isn't in the correct place yet. -

Yes, it does. -
Apparently It also helps reduce heavy weight landing speeds as well... Interesting modification.

need track replay Gun Cross below horizon Hud Horizon estimation Wrong?
Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
Correct, but the horizon line, which is what it was being compared to, will change during an alignment. And of course will depend if the parking space is sloped in any way etc. -
Try hitting AGC on the left hand side of the MFD to put it in manual gain control and play with the gain till you get something better.

@Northstar98Have you given the vehicles time to warm up? And are the vehicles moving? If you freshly spawn in a mission vehicles will start cold and require a few mins to warm up to show properly in FLIR as far as I have seen in testing. So make sure that the vehicles are moving or at least engine running and that you're not just taking these pics from an air start a short time after starting the mission.

Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
@fapadorIn that first real video you posted the jet is aligning so the horizon line in spurious and not relevant. In the second video, you're correct the cross is slightly below the horizon line. Like I said I think a softer nose gear suspension would bring the cross down to where it should be. -

Deano87 replied to fapador's topic in Bugs and Problems
I’d suggest it’s probably to do with the suspension modelling, the aircraft may be squatting too much on its main gear when loaded, or perhaps the nose gear is too stiffly sprung. It was noted in another thread that the nose of jet in the sim doesn’t bob up and down as much while taxing compared to the real thing. -

Really informative podcast. I'm really looking forward to the "Phoon" now. -
@Beamscanner Well spotted…. Er…. Heard!

The F-15E is predominantly a standard hydromechanical conventional aircraft but it does have an electronic “Control Augmentation System” or CAS. This system provides increased damping on all 3 axis and helps in various ways to improve the handling qualities of the aircraft. But it is not like the F-18 where it limits your Gs, Roll/Pitch rate or AoA. it’s limited authority so if you decide to do dumb stuff it probably won’t be able to stop you

can not reproduce f-16 losing power on lots of sweeps
Deano87 replied to swaps's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Yeah it sounds like you were just getting on the back side of the drag curve. Afterburner engages as soon as you push the throttle past the afterburner gate (approximately 75% throttle) If you look at the throttle in the sim you can see when it lifts to go into the afterburner gate, if the throttle doesn't rotate up then it's not going into afterburner, If this is so you need to follow the the following steps. Go to the main menu of the sim, Up at the top left select options, once the options page opens select the "Special" tab at the top, on the left scroll down till you see F-16C and click on that. Then you should see "Afterburner Detent" and you want to set that to "always off" Btw if you're having difficulty looking around in the cockpit without headtracking the default keybind to active mouse-look is Left ALT + C Hope that helps. -

Deano87 replied to swaps's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
What is your airspeed when you have 20 degrees nose up? What is your altitude as well? You may be just on the back side of the drag curve. If you let the F-16 get too slow it becomes very draggy and doesn’t always have enough power to accelerate out of it, specially at high altitudes. So you need to release the back stick and let the aircraft accelerate. Again a video would make this significantly easier to diagnose if it happens again. -

It honestly sounds like a binding issues. Are you familiar with how to check your control bindings to make sure nothing else is set to the throttle axis? It sounds like some other peripheral may be assigned to throttle and is overriding your joystick throttle and sticking you at 50% thrust. If you need guidance on how to check your controls, watch this video below. -

What does the fuel gauge say when the power dies? It’s just in-front of the stick to the right. Has some digital numbers in the middle of it. Do you still hear the engine? If you look at the throttle in the cockpit does it still move with your throttle?
