  1. Yes. The later block F-16s have good departure protection, including reducing rudder authority at high AoA. What specific BFM videos were you referring to, and are they F-16 specific?
  2. This doesn't work for the exact reason @Rongor mentions. It just carries the offset over to the next SP.
  3. You do if you inadvertently slew the SPI off the steerpoint using the TDC, which is entirely possible. So the best way to CZ in that situation (without a TGP) I’ve found is bring up the AG radar and hit the CZ button in there. That will put it back onto the steerpoint.

The controls are unique because the roles and capabilities of the aircraft are unique and having commonality between them isn’t required as the pilots undergo specific training to fly each aircraft. Also funds available and the timeline of when the HOTAS was integrated into the aircraft has a big role on how seamless it is.

    I noticed the Mig-23 forum has a post for IRL Mig-23 videos. Well I think we should have the same for real F-15E videos. So I'll get things started.
  8. I see what the problem is. You are following them, At roughly the same speed, I'm not surprised you cannot see them at 30 miles. For best results you want high closure rate between you and what you're trying to see with your radar. You can either do this by lighting the burner and accelerating to close on them. Or you can re-jig the mission to have them on the reverse of their current track and coming at you head on.
  9. While you're right that they're not re-inventing the wheel each time when it comes to the software used and the coding language. All of the systems on each aircraft will be more or less unique to that aircraft. Lets just look at an electrical system. The system has a battery, how big is that battery? What voltage is it? What does the batteries load vs voltage curve look like? How many amps does each component that the battery powers draw and what voltage do they require to operate? When a specific switch in the cockpit is flipped, what systems get turned on, in what order? How does powering on the engine generators change the situation? You can see how this can turn into complex system which while some of it can be drawn from an existing code-base most of it will be unique to that aircraft. You've then got to do a similar process for the multiple redundant hydraulic systems, fuel systems, equipment cooling systems, individual engine control systems, flight control systems and associated stability augmentation systems etc etc. And that's before you've got to any of the tactical systems. Be aware that you then need to think about failure and damage modes of all of the above systems. This is not an inconsiderable amount of work, and we haven't even touched on flight physics modelling which is a artform in itself.

You literally said in your first post “It would help to transfer these coordinates into a markpoint for example, yet I don't see how this would be possible right now.” and we’ve explained how you can do that, either via the FCR or TGP. Remember the coordinates in the DED are simply the centre of the HTS’s best approximation of where the emitter is. It’s the same location it hands off to the TGP. So using a TGP to refine those coordinates is highly recommended if you want any kind of precision.
  13. Razbam haven’t been actively working on the F-15E for the entire time since it was first announced. It was put on the back burner for many years because tbh at the time it was announced DCS was missing a lot of fundamental features required to do the Mudhen justice. And the Razbam team had plenty of other things to work on with the Mirage and AV8B etc. Now that DCS has a working AG radar api and reliable multi crew the project has been re-started. Regarding how long it takes to recreate a sim aircraft. Yes I imagine if a team was to put all its efforts, full time, simultaneously, into creating a study level representation of an aircraft 6 months wouldn’t be unreasonable. But that isn’t how a lot of module development goes. Often sections of development are not being done simultaneously so for instance perhaps the art assets need to be completed before much of the coding can begin. Often coders are managing many different projects at the same time, like for instance doing updates to other modules (M2000, AV8B etc). This also doesn’t take into account that people may not be working on these projects full time in the first place and they may be side projects that can be fitted in around other work. This is to say that it takes as long as it takes. I’m sure Razbam want to get the Mudhen out just as quickly as we want to see it. But if you’re going for quality and really diving into the minutia of how an aircrafts systems work, and getting it to fly how it should, these things take a lot of time. I’m sure they are also acutely aware that people have very high expectations after all this time, and they want it to be as completed and bug free as possible when it first appears. So you can add in a bunch more time for testing, bug finding, fixing re-testing etc etc.

As soon as you lock something with the HTS it points the TGP to the centre of that uncertainty zone, obviously depending on the quality of the HTS track that may not be where the emitter actually is. But regardless its then very simple to create a mark point from the TGP. Obviously if that did actually end up looking pretty much at the emitter then you can refine the position by slewing the TGP. Create a TGP markpoint. Swap your current steerpoint on the DED to that markpoint and then launch whatever weapon you want at that stp, JDAM, Maverick, JSOW, Dumb bombs etc. This is part of my standard HARM + JDAM flow, find the site, markpoint with TGP from HTS, Harm the radar, then JDAM the rest of the site. If you don't have a TGP... well then you're flying with one arm tied behind your back in this scenario but I guess AG radar could work as mentioned above.
  16. For me it goes beyond switchology and stuff that applies specifically to the Mudhen weapon systems and its more about how to fly things correctly. How to fly a proper pop-up CCIP dive bomb attack, or lofting attack or how to properly evade a sam launch. Even simple things like how to fly a circuit and approach, and more challenging things like bad weather ILS, or AAR etc. Skills that are transferable between aircraft and are much easier to get to grips with if you can watch what an instructor does from within the same aircraft and then try it yourself moments later. One thing that will help will be the ability to bring up the HUD repeater in the back seat with either the normal daylight camera video feed (as seen on the above MFDs) or the FLIR camera. This will allow an instructor in the back to literally watch somebody's ILS or bomb run or whatever "through" the pilots HUD and see what they are doing wrong, and help point them in the right direction. The amount of time I've spent watching tracks/videos from friends and then recording my own tracks/videos to send back to them to show them why they keep missing their targets, or exploding as soon as they release their weapons or any number of other things. Real-time training will be much more interesting and actually fun lol.

  18. Tell you what, one of the things I'm really looking forward to is having a high performance dual control aircraft. I'm going to love the multi-crew combat stuff but being able to literally show somebody how to fly something from the back seat and have them in the front watching the process and then be able to fly the same profile/attack/whatever a few seconds later is going to make training much easier, more realistic and fun.
  19. I’m doing this on my phone so apologies for the quality of the pic. But in the mission editor you select the Time and Weather tab and you change the QNH to 29.92. And here is the bug report I made on this issue. As far as I know this hasn’t been fixed but tbh most of the servers I fly on use standard pressure.
  20. The reason your HUD box is vertically offset from the target is the mission pressure setting. It’s a long standing bug, changing the altimeter doesn’t work (at least it didn’t last time I tried). So you must set the mission pressure to standard and it will at least resolve your issue.
  21. I wonder if that’s related to the ratio of force required for full deflection of pitch and roll in the real jet? I’m guessing you’d prefer the same force for both axis?
  22. They are LAU-68, not LAU-3. The LAU-3 has a diameter of ~400mm which is only a little smaller than a Mk-84 bomb. The LAU-68 has a diameter of ~260mm which is a little smaller than the ~270mm of a Mk-82 or GBU-12 Its easy to see in that pic that they are slightly smaller than the body of the GBU-12s on the other wing. LAU-3 on a TER looks much more crowded. As seen here on an F4 Phantom.
