  1. I’m guessing you mean F-15E?

Altitude shouldn’t make much difference. That was just generally where I set the tanker. I did some refuelling today and didn’t notice the wake/lift hump at all. But perhaps I’m just approaching the boom lower rather than just driving directly towards the end of the boom from behind.
  3. It appears that this bug has popped up again for me. Anybody else seeing it? Edit - Will investigate this more and confirm it later this evening

I have never noticed this, I will try and pay more attention next time. What speed do you have your tanker set up to fly? I usually refuel at 20-30k ft, mach 0.8 or 280-350 knots IAS.
  5. You have to turn back towards the target slightly to stop the target going too far behind your 3 o'clock line and running into the gimbal limits of the pod. Generally the best course of action is as soon as the bomb is away turn HARD left to put your target on your 3 o'clock line, this stops you closing range with the target. Then start a gentle right turn to keep the target between 3-4 o'clock. Lase with 10-15 seconds to go, and as soon as bomb impact then turn hard towards your egress direction. It can also be a good idea to drop from point track down to INR using TMS right before heavy maneuvering and then once stabilised with the target between 3-4 o'clock then get a point track again before you start lasing.

If you're hitting severe wake turbulence on approach to the tanker in the F-16 IMHO you need to adjust your approach technique. I fly with WT on all the time and I never notice it. This is one of the reasons I recommend to form up on the tankers wing first and then slide back a small amount, down and across while staying quite close to the tanker. Remember the zone of wake turbulence is two conical vortexes leading back from each wing tip. The closer you are fore/aft to the tanker the smaller those vortex's are, and the easier they are to avoid, If you charge up directly behind the tanker and slightly lower you will be flying directly into it.
  7. Depends on the RCS, aspect, altitude and closure rate of the target. But you’re being optimistic if you think you can pick stuff up at that range.
  8. Did you mean to post this in the F-16 forum?
  9. NCTR is Non Cooperative Target Recognition, it’s a technology that allows a radar to identify the aircraft it is looking at purely from its radar return, and thus hopefully help add to the IFF picture. It does this by analysing the radar return from the target and comparing that return to a database of returns from known subjects to try and pinpoint what aircraft airframe it is looking at. One of the things it looks for is the number and rpm of the front compressor blades of the engines if it can get a look down the intake of the target. As this can have quite a distinctive radar return. Size, rpm and number of blades on a helicopter main rotor can be identified in a similar way. From what I understand during the period our F-16 was operating this technology was mainly used in support of normal IFF procedure rather then being used as a primary identification tool. This is mainly due to its relative unreliability and sensitivity to factors. That’s just an off the top of my head rundown of it, I’m sure there are people here who could provide more details. Essentially in the sim it would allow you to lock up an aircraft and then it would spit out a reading on what aircraft type it is, say for instance “Su-27”. It’s already functional on the F-18 as far as I know.
  10. Wow, that sounds like a recipe for motion sickness and vomiting for me. I hate when my view doesn't exactly match my head movement.

    THAT EXPLAINS IT!
  12. Fair enough! I fly VR as well but I don't have an issue with the Jester interface, but each to their own. Regarding the F-15E there wont be a backseat AI as its not required. The cockpit duties are not rigidly split like the F-14, there is nothing the WSO can do that the pilot cant afaik.
  13. You should regardless tbh. It's a work of art. And Jester isn't that bad! He can work the TGP now.. and hey if you're flying single player you can swap to the back seat for the BVR stuff and then swap to the front seat once you get closer.
  14. Should they not be different if the real aircraft uses much less force for roll than it does for pitch? Most aircraft have a much stiffer stick in pitch then they do in roll.
  15. wow... that's some pretty in depth testing. Weird results for sure!
  16. We’ve seen functioning radar and HSD, A-A missile symbology on the HUD and we’ve been told by prowler that it definitely coming in 2022. But I suppose we do need somebody here to offset my boundless optimism.
  17. Yes If you’re doing a cold start you need to align the HMCS otherwise the symbology will be offset from where it should be. Locked target box won’t be in the right place and locking using the HMCS will be unreliable.
  18. Thanks... weird that I haven't noticed it, presumably I don't look at the HSD much while using mark points lol.
  19. Just out of interest have you tried swapping the Tu-160s to something else large like the Tu-95 and see if it still does it?
  20. Does the F-16 TGP no longer have a laser pointer visible in NVGs?
  21. Fair enough. His videos are good and the info about 1 circle vs 2 circle fights etc are quite good. As are his one about lead turns but some stuff that works in a WW2 warbird will just get you killed very quickly in a world with missiles.
  22. Huh? That’s weird. What’s causing this and has it been bug reported?
  23. That video is not at all relevant to flying and fighting in a modern jet. Least of all the F-16.
