  1. Not a solution at all. Anything but high textures blur out the cockpits for the Huey and similar aged modules to a major degree that you can't read words on it. Heavier maps are fine on a 12gb VRam. New cards are coming with less than 12gb. Omitted optimization not on par with the rest of the products available. Needing more than 12gb of VRAM to be able to use older modules on the map in the economy today is NONSENSE. Especially if the map visuals are not the current benchmark. No way I'm buying a new card just for the VRAM and because a dev doesn't optimize their work. The issue is intermittent. It is not a RULE to saturate the VRAM just because of the map at every sortie. It is more or less a 50% chance. The map doesn't offer any visual quality above the rest to warrant such a bump of memory needed. It IS a bug. Anyone can make an asset that can bring any system to a crawl intentionally. Optimization needs to be accounted or it ends up in the bug category. 12gb VRAM + 64gb RAM and I can't put the textures on high on a single map. My ass... The "Textures" setting has been found the one to be changed. It is the setting that wrecks cockpit readability on old modules if it is not on high. The "Terrain Texures" will blur a bit the terrain BUT still not enough to make room.....or something else is broken outside of Vram usage. This can cause a lot of confusion. It IS the map, but changing "Terrain Textures" won't do much. I have Iraq. It is in its own way heavy near cities and have a lot of satellite imagery, but this issue doesn't occur at all.
  2. In addition, you can move the active window between screens on a multi monitor setup with Win + LShift + Arrow keys . It is often handy.
  3. I agree with this thread. It will only get worse from here if ED doesn't intervene in things like this. I doubt the RWR is even finished also. I can be wrong...
  4. There is also an object list through one of the left hand side buttons menu that you can filter units for selection without having to click the icons on the map. Yeah, the thing of controllable aircraft on top of each other on the carrier is a pain. If you get used to using the list, the issue might get less noticeable while the ME doesn't get an overhaul.
  5. This is beyond amazing!!! I came across your video on youtube and followed the link here. I'll add this to my DCS asap!!! terrific work.
  6. I personally don't think photogrametry or laser scanning is directly correlated to bad performance. The meshes don't necessarily have more polygons, it is just the polygons are much closer to where they should be in with a different workflow. If that makes sense. It is perfectly understandable to be wary of new software releases performances with the current global prices in hardware. I too relate to that.
  7. I'm having the same issues as of late. I did post on this thread (I think) extensive tests and videos showing the problem. GPU load goes bananas bellow a hard AGL altitude which is around 900ft. Late posts pointed at VRAM load although I have a 12gb VRAM card. I've let this problem go then... It got better after the VRAM usage dcs core update or it was a placebo effect as the problem is intermittent. Lately the issue came back and wasted me a 40 minute mission on the F-4E. It is like pushing on the brakes on DCS enjoyment even though I have other maps to enjoy, this one is a recent purchase. I don't really see as a hardware limitation issue as 12gb of VRAM should be very well enough to handle this map, as it handles all others well... New cards are coming with less than 12gb VRAM and a lot of more reports are going to come about this if the developer doesn't do something. For me, it is a bug, being otimization or not. Absolutely it should be given of the highest priority to fix because it wrecks frame times inducing a giant amount of lag on commands especially head tracking. Reducing textures settings is a NO GO. Other maps are fine and reducing textures will result in unusable cockpit on modules such as the Huey and similar aged. I don't plan to be changing settings every time prior to launch a mission either. Dissapointed about this, as the map is glorious on its own strenghts.... I'm experiencing similar results here too.
  8. Best news since DCS Iraq, for me. I'll sure grab it when I can. Hardware upgrades recently made things a bit difficult for software side purchases on my end. I find this a valuable milestone for ED as it is a REDfor fighter jet, and I cheering for its success for much more RED planes to come after. The player base is surely in need, regardless of their favorite side/country of origin for aircraft. Done right, it will enrich everyones experience, imo. Great news that it is coming out of the oven finally.

    Last call sale?

They were selling DCS modules there. It was also the main hub to get the manuals.
  10. It is not only VR. It is global....2D as well... Known for ages. There is a improper scaling at distance on the shadowmaps resolution for performance optimization. It is too abrupt. Shadows at maximum settings, btw. Bellow, compare shadows on the F-4, which is near the pov to the tomcats, which are farther away.
  11. Good news. Anyone of those is the right one as long as it is updated to the latest version. DCS 2.9.15.9599.1 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/release/2.9.15.9599.1/ You probably updated from old builds before the Open Beta & Stable merge. You can wipe those old shortcuts and make new ones to the executable in the 'bin' folder. There is no Open Beta anymore.
  12. Where did that come from?! F-18: Finland, Canada, Switzerland, Kuwait... F-16: Greece, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Israel... etc... These have dynamic numbers besides USA.
  13. @virgo47 Orbx didn't make the map, nor any of their dev teams. The map was published under Orbx but whoever actually fixes bugs are the developer that did South Atlantic map as well. Perhaps trying to message/mention the developer is a better path than trying to contact Orbx itself. Imo, this kind of publishing makes things harder and is a bit misleading overall, but it was what the developer could do to make those maps into DCS.
  14. I suggest you folks to look at games such as Cities Skylines to see how humanoid npcs on urban areas roaming around wrecks CPU times, and DCS is already pretty heavy in CPU load. For those who pointed out cars going around like nothing happened near explosions. Real war footage will show you very close outcome. Cars usually don't pick up pace while people are freaking out in it and >usually< keep direction going. Cars are not an emotive entity. While humanoid npcs, if made with the current tech, would look and act uncanny. One day, with proper tech, humanoid civilians would be a welcome mechanic, especially with aircraft like the Apache to avoid collateral damage, as long as it doesn't wreck havoc in how the sim performs. That also asks for a MUUUCH better soldier/military infantry systems implemented.
  15. Read the FAQ, brothers. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1L9p43Wloq9c7iBXtCunOVvKFnZDU--k&femb=1&ll=31.313444208732744%2C46.16487759999998&z=6 There will be.
  16. What's wrong with the F-4E?
  17. Welcome to the forums. Razbam pulled the product off stores due to the current dispute between ED and them. See the first post of this thread:
  18. I see. I do the same with 5 to 6 modules, but as long as I already learned how to deploy them. I tend to keep only 1 at learning phase as it is faster to get the muscle memory.
  19. um........ agree with you on the last part. Its weight on workload is about 1/3 of the A-10C and the DCS:A-10C was super well regarded over its whole lifespan, sooooooooo.......... how many people dislike the 18 or is just an impression? It is popularly flown on servers. It was a breeze to learn by myself. Still sells a lot, and it has the free test period to have a go on it. Honestly, is there anything better in DCS than quiet time + DCS open + the manual(s) at hand with the new shinny module on the screen? The first times turning on the plane by yourself on the carrier by just reading out the manual and taxing to the cat were super rewarding. The worst learning experience I ever had was learning through the training missions on the A-10C by following the yellow indicators to turn switches on. I ended up not learning what each of them did and forgetting completely while in a different mission. What got me into it fast, was absorbing the checklist and finding the switches. Suddenly each switch started to mean something. 15th??? This should be on top, but better last. Take your time. ONE module at a time and learn then thoroughly before getting the next one to learn. You're overwhelmed with too many modules and haven't properly made a decent workflow for you to learn an aircraft (applicable also on other sims btw.) 15 modules for just 200h is crazy... sorry. Just slow down. (please don't take it as a criticism to you, I just want to help a brother to see the light )
  20. no it is not. Syria has the same phenomenon occurring.
  21. Razbam was working on an A-29. Rest in Dreams, A-29...
  22. I've been reading about this issue for a few days now when it pops up on the forum. If it is worth mentioning, I haven't experienced any of the issues cited on this whole thread. I update DCS as soon as the patch is out or a day later. I have no idea how to help either, so I can't comment on how to fix it. DCS at locked 40fps, theoretical double or more higher but some scenes will cause dips so I kept in a FPS value that will never drop bellow so I won't be distracted by frame time spikes and irregular framerate. 1080p. DLAA only. i5 12600k, RTX 3060 12gb, 64gb Ram DDR4, DCS on a NVME SSD, no paid campaigns installed. Windows 11: HAGS OFF, Gamemode On. Mods: A-4, CH russian assets. Tacview exporting enabled. Background app: Lean system. Voicemeeter standard, Libre Hardware Monitor (latest on github), Track IR app, Gigabyte control center, nVidia app. Windows Defender exclusions set on DCS root folder + DCS 'saved games' folder.
  23. Besides from lighting indicators checks, yes.
  24. Page 142 from the manual got you covered. MAIN PWR switch – BATT. Verify light on ELEC Control Panel: ACFT BATT “FLCS RLY” – On. FLCS PWR TEST switch – TEST and hold. FLCS PWR TEST switch – Release. MAIN PWR switch – MAIN PWR. JFS switch – START 2. Throttle – Advance to IDLE at 20% RPM minimum. More in depth in the manual, of course. After this, just turn everything that you need to on. MIDS to ON only after INS is fully aligned and in NAV.
