The willingness to put effort in a 15C full fidelity from ED precedes the Razbam stopping updating their modules including the 15E. I presume the F-15C FF has zero to do with Razbam as these things take a lot of time for preparation and there were not enough time between RB situation and the 15C announcement. Keep in mind, Razbam had a very rare clearance/connection to the French Air Force to produce the M-2000C of theirs.

That's true, hence is best to be grateful of the current DCS version or take a breather outside than otherwise. Whatever happens is for the best. At least, they are not a "never delay and always rush" type of developers. -

To balance up that assumption with a more positive assumption. Wags, as a professional that he is, wouldn't be learning on the go to make these introductory videos. There is certainly a structure behind it. Have a go at trying to make/record a tutorial video if you haven't. There is much more than what one can see on a video, from personal experience. Perhaps it is what the marketing schedule is, so let's take these things as marketing as well. There always is. -
Liveries taking up too much space for planes I don't even own.
Czar replied to MoCluck's topic in Game Performance Bugs
This failed. DCS does not recognize .zip/compressed liveries inside Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>, the same way liveries are compressed inside DCS<rootfolder>/CoreMods/aircraft/<aircraft name>/Liveries. If there is a way to do it on another folder, I'm not aware. -

Fascinating. I'll try to zip some liveries to see the results. -

See if it works. If it does show in game, is no problemo. -

This is not MSFS or XPlane. There is no priority. Everything is loaded in demand as the game loads up the models, either in Mission Editor, Mission or whatever as soon as the game needs to show the model with the texture. Separate directories and textures in .dds. -

Actual external liveries. Controlled and non controlled aircraft. Cockpit Textures. User made liveries that you download on the internet to enrich your experience. Optional and by default empty. The path is not right, btw. It should be: Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/<aircraft name>/<livery name> Cockpit AND external textures/liveries that comes with an aircraft MOD by default. -
It is a very old feature. I meant, probably LOMAC old, that precedes our current image sharing services.

Back in the day (2014 ish) I always had the impression through either MP chat or forum that "server allowed to take screenshots" was a measure on the person reporting a problem being able to snap a screenshot for the server side to check for the issue and not an anti cheat solution. In some situations it would cause server side performance issues if a person would spam the "print screen" button as the server is also receiving the shots on their end. I can be inaccurate because this memory is as fuzzy as it gets. I haven't been a multiplayer power user for many years now. Some interesting info from a quick google: "Server admin here- it's just a screencap of the game itself. I don't really know why it's even a thing. " "Most Multiplayer servers are taking screenshots from your aircraft in cool situations (e.g. sunset behind you or some stuff like that, dogfights and so on) and post them for example on their discord server for cool pictures. They ask you for permission to do that " Of course, some enlightenment about this feature from ED would be appreciated.

Currently, ED has been one of the best if not THE best (I don't own all modules) in the sound department in fly-bys. The Viper and the Hornet at the right volume levels are brutal, so I'd say it is in good hands. I hope they do it well.

That is a great idea! Endless possibilities for training missions especially the ones that involves maneuvers for bombing which is a bit difficult to grasp from just words.

I see. Understood. ....but in real life, as seen, the effect is just the same as in the F-15s. There is zero visual difference. F-22 flying in formation with it is not adequate because of the alpha and a low wing load at the flight regime. Obviously the 35 will generate vortexes easier because of the high wing load as you properly pointed out. The demonstration should have been at similar alpha, I think. A-10s are no comparison. DCS already takes into the account the alpha and without any change the F-35 will display the vortexes easier as the system automatically does it by default. You're right about that. In the visual realm, although very nice looking DCS is already, the effect should be upgraded globally. Reason is because they all look the same in DCS, and are too skinny where it should be a thick cylinder like streak as in very humid conditions. F-35s bellow: F-22 bellow: Visually, planes can do exact same visible vortexes effects. So it is where I'd say the effect should be upgraded globally. F-35s can do easier? Yep, I agree. Keyword: easier. F-35s vortexes are longer? Not necessarily. DCS Should have longer wingtip vortexes while its length varying based on air conditions? I agree with it too. I'm all for these improvements in visual goods. I've also noticed the delta winged aircraft are very difficult to generate such effect (rare to non existent in photographs) while in DCS it is easy to do on the M-2000C. So an upgrade/tweak on that front should be also looked at, especially with the Eurofighter coming up.
-
All my time nerding out on aircraft footage, I haven't seen anything different on the F-35 in that regard. Feel free to post direct comparisons in the same atmosphere conditions. It is going a bit to the realm of 'nobody cares that much', especially something regarding wingtip vortexes. Doubtful if something comes in that regard with the 35. A global improvement would be nice, as in less sensitive to occurrence and longer trails.
-
Don't ignore the other images especially the Eagle. There is nothing pointing at the F-35 to have its own effect instead of improving the global effect. Even airliners can display crazy vortexes without pulling Gs.
-
There is nothing special about F-35's visible wingtip vortex. All planes can leave massive trails IRL and it is dependent on the atmosphere conditions. The effect should be improved globally actually.

Let's look at the bright side: the more time there is until an upgrade on those maps, the more new tech on terrain they'll end up featuring. Still there is vegetation new techs for a Vietnam map where even NTTR and PG would benefit from.

"Don't laugh, but DCS: Cessna 172 (or similar)" lol 172 in DCS. ....jokes aside. Honestly, it would be alright and same would go for civilian helis. I guess the market/user base interest dictates that? I would love for A2A to have a dab into DCS with their persistent wear system, it doesn't necessarily need to be a 172. Could be a Cessna Caravan that could sneakily get into that civilian slot by having weapons as well.

The replay system is being overhauled by ED (see newsletters). The system seems to have been made with SFM in mind. Today DCS is much more complex than it was when tracks were reliable. Tracks can still easily break. I'm currently working on a Warthog video that although having a simple mission, the track breaks continuity midway the mission on a 'area track' to 'point track' while being played 2 times now. Modules as the Viper and Hornet are much easier on tracks. The Tomcat frequently breaks tracks very easily (not talking about the jester menu bug on tracks). I've done full mission replays being successful from beginning to the end for more than 1h long, others break in 30 minutes time. As ED pointed out, the replay function is not 100% reliable as they are overhauling it. It should serve mainly as a debug feature. It is not a new thing. Tracks used to break back in 2014 too.

Outside of just teasing ED for a response, this is a silly statement. The recurring theme of answers from ED about these ongoing features is that their teams are busy.

Correct removal of modules - Fixed with 2.9.20.15010 Update.
Czar replied to BrassEm's topic in Installation Problems
Use the launcher to disable them. If everything fails, unistall DCS through the uninstaller and re install DCS with the .exe found on the website. It should be a stress free alternative. You'll end up with a DCS with no modules installed and will be able to build from there. Invest into storage. New modules coming up will increase DCS size... -
I was about to write about this on the previous post but my knowledge about the issue is limited. I saw it on JayzTwoCents report on a yt video but that was it. If I recall correctly, my motherboard wouldn't induce the issue as it is a basic motherboard for personal reasons AFAIK. Of course I would read a lot more nearer the upgrade. Thank you for the writing. It is something to consider too, although I'm leaning more towards the intel upgrade, depending on the 14th gen condition at the time. Thanks!

i5 12600k here, hyperthreading is enabled (never disabled it) and have no problem with getting into the menu within 30 to 40 seconds. Cores unparked and when they were parked, the issue was not present either. Something else being affected by hyperthreading might be the issue. HT is pretty dominant these days across all setups, if it was it everyone would see forums melting over it. HAGS on, Game mode on (why both of these are on in my system atm is a long story. HAGS off vs on makes no difference in loading times), nvidia driver 1 version behind from the latest, no VR installed, trackIR app running and no HOTAS app on (VKB HOTAS, its preferences are stored in its hardware). 64gb Ram, 30gb pagefile on a ssd nvme, DCS on a SSD nvme. Just trying to give more details from a setup that is not experiencing the issues. Also, set Shader Cache Size on nVidia control panel or something equivalent on AMD, to Default or some other value but OFF, if you even changed it from Default to OFF. That induces huge loading times with it OFF.
