Why isn't the module called F-5N instead?
-
The variant we have in DCS didn't carry missiles under the wing. Only overhauled variants did. (perhaps inacurate). This discussion comes and goes since the module released. I'm all for new variants to come (paid pack) for current modules, especially for the F-5E, though. It is a very special module to me. It would suffice a Tiger III variant as an 'expansion' for me, personally... or even the 'S', or 'EM'. Others would also be very much welcomed, but the E we have never had the capability of carrying missiles (A/A) under the wing.

Fps drops from around 120 to 30 every 10 seconds or so
Czar replied to PatientSquire27's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Have you reduced Visibility Range to Ultra or Lower? On your Log file it was 'extreme'. -
SA page "[FRIEND] - NO ID" active, still shows RWR ID.

Radar screen shows hollow symbology for friendly RWR signals as correct, but not the SA page which shows radar signature ID for friendlies. Track and Mission Files Attached. Hornet Friend No ID box issue SA page.trk SA Page Friend No ID Issue.miz -

Parked Cores 2025-03-31 08:59:38.821 WARNING EDCORE (Main): CPU HAS PARKED LOGICAL CORES (this can be source of stuttering and reduced performance especially on hybrid CPUs with P/E-cores) See: https://www.dannymoran.com/windows-cpu-core-parking/ Turn down your visibility range to Ultra or lower if unparking cores doesn't help. Extreme vis range can cause weird frame drops. Turn off Mods. Make exclusions on your AV of DCS root folder and DCS inside 'Saved Games'. -

I will do it today when I have the time. Thanks for the heads up. -
reported SA page "[FRIEND] - NO ID" active, still shows RWR ID.

On the SA page, the function inside the 'Sensors' to show azimuth of friendly contacts on the RWR with hollow center or "no ID" is not working and it is showing radar ID like it is a hostile. It can mess up situational awareness pretty badly. Even with [RWR] ALL this used to function with hollow circles inside a triangle for friendlies RWR contacts. Something changed that this behavior is correct when missing some sort of datalink info? Apologies if so. Friendlies F-16s inbound from the East. I'm Hawk30 under the nickname of 'Feliverick' off the coast south west of Wujah al Hajar. I've tripple checked and SA page still showed me ID from that F-16s like they were hostiles. -
hmmmmmm, strange you don' get those stripes. If you end up testing with that GPU again, try DLAA? cheers
-
Remove any overclock made on the GPU if done so. For a good measure, also on the CPU. Bring everything back to factory clocks and see if it goes better. If other games are also wacky, it is a sign of something broader. With DDU? Try with a complete driver wipe with DDU software if you haven't done so. (easy google) Well... if that's DCS: See if deleting the 'fxo' and 'metashaders2' inside the 'DCS' folder at 'Saved Games' fixes it. Do that regardless when you have time. Usual path for that DCS folder: C:\Users\<your user ID in windows>\Saved Games\DCS
-
Did you make tests on the same scenarios? Weird how?
-
Were your DCS in offline mode before upgrading windows? Rename the DCS folder in 'saved games' to something else like 'DCS_Old', and try to log in again. If renaming the 'DCS' folder inside 'saved games' doesn't fix, I think you should contact support. Typical path to that folder: C:\Users\<your user ID in windows>\Saved Games\DCS

Nvidia here. I'm sure I wasn't going crazy: Roughly on the same spot you took that Hornet shot. F/A-18C Hornet Instant Action, Free Flight,Syria. F-16C Viper Instant Action, Free Flight, Persian Gulf. Nvidia, DLAA on. It seems to occur on the intersection of the Clouds shadows and the coastal shader/effect thing that makes up the shallow waters appearance. I've been seeing this for years now, doesn't matter the aircraft.

'LCtrl + F11' will turn your current POV position to the 'F11 free camera'. W A S D for moving the camera just like in a FPS videogame. Q and E for up and down. Mouse to pitch and yaw the camera. You can also look around with Track IR but the axis of movement for that camera is governed by the mouse look.

F-15C can't hold orbit above 30'000
Czar replied to NoJoy's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
No. It is ground speed. Above 15,000ft is better to refer to Mach speed. Try to set mach of .75 for high orbit. If the AI still sinks, try .79 to .82. -
Click on "Get Licenses"

Perhaps: DCS website -> profile -> Under Steam Account: Get Licenses. This never happened to me, so it might be it or not. TF-51D is free, though... there shouldn't be any license to it afaik.

Having issues with DCS core parking with the AMD ryzen 9950x3d CPU
Czar replied to RTS354's topic in General Bugs
Intel here, 12600K. I did this recently to keep every core unparked. I think I got rid of the few stutters left I had in DCS. Last flight with the F-15E and its ground radar was remarkably smooth, but it also can be a placebo effect. All I know is that, resource manager in windows doesn't state any parked cores anymore even at idle. I hope this helps once and for all. First link on the description has the step by step with the correct path through the registry editor. -

This also happens with Nvidia GPU and DLAA.

Wait... weren't all maps translated to a spherical projection since new Caucasus map arrived? The old Caucasus was indeed flat.

can not reproduce Graphical glitch with blinking Master Caution?
Czar replied to frumpy's topic in Bugs and Problems
DLAA. It is a temporal solution to Anti Aliasing. I see it as well on the Tomcat radar screen, sometimes blinking TWS targets and phoenix in pitbull countdowns characters and icons meshes into constant in certain zoom values especially far. Why is it affected by zoom? The temporal algorithm make it so. The problem will be only resolved by changing anti aliasing methods. -
After landing. Director wanted to make my Hornet kiss the static Tomcat. I had to disregard him and taxi myself towards starboard. I placed the statics, so likely that's a horrible spot and that plane shouldn't be there. Directors are unaware of statics position, but that's maybe asking too much of the system at the moment, just pointing it out.

Hi grlmsgt, the command is called Nose Gear Steering / Auto Acquisition Button. You've got to keep it pressed to steer like on the Sabre.

F14 not authorized / antivirus / false positive
Czar replied to Semaphore's topic in Bugs and Problems
Did you take any action on the 'threat'? Seems like the file is in quarantine. Either nuke that file with windows defender and restart or make windows defender bypass it clicking to allow it to exist. Your windows defender panel shouldn't display any 'current threat' existing, before making a repair or updating DCS. Last resort: Download the DCS installer from the DCS website. Make it install DCS on the same drive but in a different folder. You can name it whatever you like. Stop installation when it is downloading the files. Make an exclusion on Windows Defender and in any other anti virus you have, of that new folder. CUT and paste your old DCS files to the new folder made. If any file is stuck by 'another program is using this file', Let them be and bypass them. The goal is to avoid downloading massive files again. Resume installation through the installer you just downloaded for the path of that new folder you've made. It will verify the files that exists instead of re downloading everything. -
F14 not authorized / antivirus / false positive
Czar replied to Semaphore's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi Bagpipe. It seems that your installation is missing the F14-HeatblurCommon.dll that may have been deleted by the anti virus. Try to remove/uninstall the module through the launcher, do a repair and then update DCS. If the issue persists. Try the following: Disable real-time protection temporarily on windows defender despite having the DCS root folder in the exclusion list. Type: "Windows Security" in the Search Bar -> Virus & Threat Protection -> Virus & threat protection settings 'manage settings' -> Turn off real-time protection. Restart PC. Do a DCS repair and whatever else DCS needs including re installing the F-14 module. Re activate real-time protection from windows defender. So, they are attacking eachother now. Wild! I'm not surprised, though... sad.
