  1. Pretty!!! This can be classified as photogrammetry, I think. It would need more than a few images to generate the mesh and that requires licensing from major companies such as google which have a lot of aerial photographs or devs getting the images themselves which might be (very) expensive. On some of these images above, the magic mostly comes from the sat image resolution rather than mesh. DCS is close on that front but I'd wish there would be a better way to optimize on storage level as newer maps has been turning out to be massive in size. I strongly believe so too. MSFS already gave the first taste on consumer level in flight sims and google maps/earth already have it in full display. About the actual technique called 'point clouds', I don't have knowledge about it, so that's why I called it photogrammetry. The last two images are gorgeous as well as the grey cliff (3rd from top to bottom) with many rocks and bits making through the 3d mesh. Lovely!
  2. You read the whole thing wrong if you think anyone here is against new areas to be added. I'm wishing every year to be a new expansion and/or overhaul to Persian Gulf. There is nothing mid boggling here.
  3. Exploring that kind of unit variation and tactical play over front composition would breathe a huge fresh air into DCS as a whole.
  4. Read to the comment I replied to previously. That's why I mentioned it.
  5. I agree, but look at the map presented. Iran is 2x bigger than Iraq. The product name would need to change if the whole of Iran would be featured as the discussion is about. Nothing to do with adding a few more Iranian bases. Btw, it is already a multi country map. Idk where you got the idea that I'm talking about making as limited to one country as possible map.
  6. So it wouldn't be 'Iraq' anymore on the product name. Makes more sense to expand and revamp Persian Gulf map, but as said: ED has no plans to do so yet. Iraq map is already pushing a lot and yet to come the southern portion. I'm pretty sure the product wouldn't cost the same by including the mass of Iran in it.
  7. That or "Early As + B updated cockpit + new fx like vapor over wings and afterburner" sssssssss ahh.....hard to chose. oh man, imagine if it is the new effects and the early As + B cockpit. 2025 the year of the Tomcat.
  8. Just checked. DCS is working fine again without the error on boot while auto login is active. Likely without the Authorization Expired error as well after a while in game. Edit: soon I'll fly again and update this post if the Authorization Expired error doesn't appear in a full dcs session of mine. Edit 2: The error "login expired" and the "Error 502" has not appeared ever since.
  9. This is beyond my knowledge, but through several times before resetting the log in through login out I had a 100% rate of receiving the error. Upon logging out and back in, the error went away and I could finish 2 missions later. Their side or not, DCS came back working again.
  10. The problem disappeared after a log out and log in refresh. No need to ditch the launcher from my end.
  11. ...but...but those cool clips, tho. I understand the preference, but the quick graphics setting changes without booting up DCS has been handy in a little while.
  12. This fixed my issue. No more 502... so far.
  13. I never had such issues ever in DCS since its debut early 2010s. I just got booted out of a mission 5 to 10 minutes in after receiving the failed authorization data error code: 502 on DCS boot. Possible fix: From the launcher, log out and log back in using your password. No error message on DCS launch.
  14. It is a 'trees' issue, that's maybe why. Iraq has the same issue with shadows on 'default'. Something on the implementation of shadowmaps in DCS seems a bit funky. Not a fan.
  15. Star Trek Type 9 Shuttlecraft. Even the numbers line up
  16. opposite here. Shadows to 'flat' maybe? Because the DCS shadowmaps are horrid in performance and the forest cast a lot of them.
  17. Yep, I know. Still heavily needed for the Corsair and Hellcat.
  18. Over Guam Island where there is urbanization on the modern version. Much lower GPU usage, akin to what I see on other maps such as Syria. Idk much else because I lock my frames. I just saw good numbers. Lots of trees too, but I guess the buildings autogen are heavy in DCS. (something for the devs to look into one day, idk)
  19. Great first impressions, but it desperately needs the Japanese WWII fighters in the sim even if it is AI only. Ironically, it is currently more fitting to Vietnam scenarios than WWII atm.
  20. The Corsair, Mustangs and Jugs are in need of Zeros and company to play with. Terrific looking map so far. huh... I found it to be the opposite. How come?
  21. I guess more data is needed to receive proper attention. Yes, it is like work. Low data posts are like: 'Here, I feel like this. Go figure how to test for an issue that's affecting how I feel". Some numbers to be cross checked can be helpful as well as unclassified documents.
  22. WWII carrier ops is enough life for a while.
  23. What the hell is that? Don't beat yourself on that one. It means your values over the digital product lies deeper within hours spent rather than the initial novelty. I can't think of any module I've purchased that I have a slight remorse over. The Mirage 2000C perhaps was the only one on its early years as it was rough, nowadays after the massive updates, it is right along the rest of my beloved jets. (current dispute subject excluded). The Mustang is the only WWII bird I own so far, perhaps that's a factor.
