  1. Thanks for the added input! Okay, you're confusing me here as there is no default assignment for the "*" key. If you mean the Communications Menu key, that is "\" and it works for me. Yes, I'm aware it only has a UHF radio but thought I had the wrong frequency seeing I would get no response. Also, in the options there is no category for "PPT" so I'm assuming you just mean the Communications Menu key which I stated above is the "\" key. So to prove just what an idiot I am I'll relate the following: Having read your added input and that it works for you guys I knew I was just missing a very basic step. After trying a few things and spending way more time on it than I wanted to (I want to fly the damn thing after all!!! :D ) I just hit the Autostart button to just get going and have some fun. Once I was up and running I decided what the heck, let's see if I can communicate with the tower and asked for start-up clearance. The tower responded! Then that little light bulb went off in my dimly lit head and I thought, "gee, maybe I actually need to have some power to transmit to the tower..." So I restarted and first turned on the Battery Switch and then tried again... Yup, the tower responded just like I expected and I was able to get permission to then start up, then taxi to runway and then get clearance to take off! Yup, as I thought, user error once again. Thanks for all your patience and for giving me the credit to actually do this basic step that I wasn't doing! As my father always liked to say to me when he was still alive, if I had a brain I'd be dangerous! :D
  2. Thanks for the replies. I believe the bug was related to the AI and them getting clearance. I was able to communicate with the tower in the past. It's just been many months since I've flown on this map and used the comms that I've forgotten a lot of it... This patch has fixed the AI in my sandbox mission I created for myself so the triggered AI planes now do take off! Pikey, are you saying that yo have been able to communicate with the tower at Nellis with the F-5? If so, please educate this poor slob on how to do it! :) I jumped into the Hawk and was able to request startup no problem. Setting the F-5 to "A25.00" didn't work for me. Still no response. My key bindings are all fine, too, BTW. Thanks. 254.00 is the VHF frequency? Okay, that explains the silence. In the ME it was the only frequency that the F-5 would take preset for me. That's what I'm wondering but reading Pikey's response makes me feel that he has it working. I feel so dumb/inadequate at the moment...:helpsmilie: LOL
  3. I don't have any problem using that key. My communications go out I just don't get any response.
  4. Thanks for the response. I should have stated that yes, it is on and set to manual when using the manually set frequencies or on preset when trying that. I have no issues with the Caucasus maps' airfields just when I tried it tonight at Nellis. So 254.00 is the correct UHF frequency? Odd...
  5. Totally agree. Really loved what Polychop did with the Gazelle and would love to see others do likewise, even if it means paying out some more dough!
  6. Okay, I feel like a complete dolt here. I can't seem to contact the tower with the F-5... I've tried the 254.00 frequency, the Channel 5 Preset and get nothing. This is the correct UHF frequency, is it not? Of the 3 frequencies listed in the ME this is the only one that "fits" but doesn't work. What I am doing wrong here? :helpsmilie: Thanks for any help you can give to this aging mind...
  7. Isn't this already the case for you? It is that way for me, meaning NWS while on the ground and radio while in the air. At first it was weird to me but now I actually quite like it!
  8. And I for one am tickled pink that they do this. I have so missed the NTTR map since being able to fly on it many years ago with the A-10C release... I'm a very happy camper now to be able to test it out in all its' glory!!
  9. Hope you guys figure this one out. Although I have to say, at least with the F-5E-3, I am not experiencing this in my custom sandbox mission I've made and just updated to add in my F-5 that has lots of activity on the airfields and in the air. Take off from Nellis with with the radar finishing warming up and active having 60fps (vsync enabled) and then I activate some ground vehicles to go toward Hoover Dam, ingress toward targets, drop bombs all keeping it at 55-60fps. Radar was fully active before getting there and is searching with no drops in fps. Turn toward Vegas and get down low. Frames drop, depending on where I look, to 45-55fps. Activate an air target far north and climb above cloud cover. Stays pegged at 60fps the whole time until I land with the radar on. I tried turning it off and on again and it stays the same. I haven't tried the Mirage yet but will later today after getting some yard work done.
  10. Oh yeah! Can't wait to get into my cockpit and fly over the desert again... See you guys in a few months!
  11. I've had this exact same thing since release. I just figured it would be fixed at some point and I'm actually used to it now. :)
  12. Well put and my thoughts exactly!
  13. If you're talking about the wait from when we first had the map with the original release of the A-10C? Yeah, really long time, many years in fact! So 5 months in comparison is a breeze. ;)
  14. Even though I don't use the kneeboard at all (I use my iPad for that as it's a lot easier to read and works well with my cockpit) I appreciate you doing this and know many other will use this even if they don't post here saying so. Keep up the good work!
  15. Thanks! Looks to be quite handy.
  16. Lino_Germany, thank you very much! Not sure why your files didn't appear with my search... Looks like just what I need! Thanks again for your help!:notworthy::beer:
  17. Hi all, I've just spent the past 35+ min. searching the user files section and the forum here for a PDF for all the airfields on the Caucasus map. Long ago I found and downloaded one that lists the VHF frequencies but now flying the F-5E I need to know all the UHF ones but have not been able to find any. It could be my lame choice of words used in the search or my general ineptitude but either way I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to find such a PDF. Does anyone know of such a list? The DCS Table of Frequencies that I have from Shu77, HiJack, and vJaBoG32 is quite nice but lacks the UHF. Fingers crossed that there is such a thing. Thanks in advance for anyone who can point me in the right direction! :helpsmilie:
  18. Hmmm, not sure why you're experiencing this (aside from what others have speculated) but like them, it works just fine here. No issues turning in either direction and I find the sensitivity, though greater than I was expecting, to be totally manageable and am already quite used to it after only a couple of hours in the cockpit. Hope you figure out what's up for you soon!
  19. Hmmm, not sure I'm hearing what you guys are talking about. I'll have to take her up during lunch to see if I notice it at all.
  20. Cobra, thanks for the great update! Just a week ago I decided to take up the Mig-21 for the first time in a loooonnnnngggg time, just too many toys to play with and not enough free time..., after reading about people having to get used to the landings and such. Man... what a beautiful job you guys have done. I always feel this way each time I jump into the cockpit. Flew around a bit (I've forgotten most of the controls so I didn't bother trying to DF with it) and just practiced taking off and flying around and landing... lovely experience! Trying to imagine what you guys will come up with with an F-14... Yup, mind blown. ;) Despite my impatient nature, it will be worth the wait! Now I just need to be able to retire and then clone myself a few times so I have enough time to learn and use all the wonderful planes sitting in my hanger.
  21. Aginor, I agree with you completely. I only do SP and the immersion when there is a good working ATC is immeasurable! I remember many moons ago when the original A-10C came out and how engrossed I became with the ATC that was there at that time on the NTTR map... That's what really brought me back to DCS after playing with Flanker, Lockon and the other early iterations. As far as what Pitot said, that only seems to apply for MP, not SP and we all know there are many more SP people out there... We all have our own priorities but, as you have said, this one has been on the back burner for sooooo long it is time, imho, of course. :D
  22. I voted for #1 because it is easier to read but prefer that the "category" column that is missing in #2 also be taken out of #1. I know, you didn't ask for redesign suggestions but I thought I'd share any way. :P;)
