  1. I guess the V3 site might have been problematic if there had been an opportunity to store large quantities of projectiles in underground magazines
  2. Plenty of escort and even target marking opportunities… Is there any option to drop smoke or pyrotechnics?
  3. I wouldn’t worry about missing Italian aircraft… There aren’t any British or German ones yet…!!!
  4. Would be useful Mossie target (V1)
  5. Just flying a mission where gauge shows zero fuel in rear tank… Gauge is correct - if I flick the selector to rear only, the engine cuts… BUT, going back to the ME, I’ve set the aircraft up with a 300L drop tank and fuel load shows as 625kg - which should be front, rear and drop all brim full, and of course, the drop tank pipes through the rear tank. This was right after take off as I wanted to burn off the drop tank fuel first Pump breakers are all in Anything else I might have missed??

    Any news?

Far too quiet… The Tactical Pascale vid raised expectations…!!! oh, and where’s the Sea Harrier?
  7. These also need to be multi-National, to reflect the main sim countries / alliances Clearly not possible to cover every option - perhaps each aircraft module should have a set suited to the main operators Good example here is flying a Luftwaffe A8 Anton with callsign “Ford”
  8. Yep, stall was very evident, but interestingly was either wing, not the typical left wing drop Was slightly disbelieving of the speed..! frozen pitot would explain as ASI was ok again at lower alt
  9. Interesting… In the Anton, engine power and IAS didn’t seem to be a problem, but the aircraft became aerodynamically unstable - shaking, uncontrollable roll and pitch. Speaks volumes about the FM etc IAS was 600kph. I guess this was the “edge of the envelope”, or would it be “coffin corner” in something like an Anton? (always assumed this more related to early jets)
  10. Flew the Anton from Turkey to Cyprus today… Crossing the sea I thought I’d see how high I could get the aircraft - which became very unstable at a shade below 9000m. Does this seem about right? I note published ceiling is a bit over 10000m, so not far off
  11. OK, so I’d agree that the Harrier GR3 is a close contemporary to the Yak - late 60s / early 70s… The Sea Harrier isn’t that much more modern though - late 70s for the FRS1… but sadly we don’t have the Sea Harrier in DCS, despite Razbam teasing a 3D model and showing off a visually stunning South Atlantic / Falklands map
  12. Hi, all look amazing… are there any RN destroyers or cruisers available or in the pipeline??? The Tribal, J, K and War Emergency destroyers were fantastic looking ships and were in the thick of the action for the entire war (L-P classes as well, but odd armaments and looks in comparison!)

    ships

Some fantastic looking ships in Hawkeye60’s mods… but is there an easy way to get them??? the linked threads seem to have multiple links / dls etc - is there a consolidated page with them on? Couldn’t find any on the ED dl page, but that may be my search criteria As an aside, are there any of the best looking WW2 warships available…??? (RN Tribal, J, K and War Emergency class destroyers) ETA - talking of destroyers, a relative served on HMS Echo, including the Bismarck action, so I would have a personal interest in one of the pre-war A-H classes ETA-2… anyone thought of using Cyprus map as a stand in for Crete or other Med air / sea battle arenas?

    Photo-recon mods

Thanks Haven’t flown the Mustang for a very long time… but my main memory of it was of always cooking the engine I guess keeping the speed up and engine running for a full low level insertion mission would be quite a challenge
  15. Shemya Islsnd / USAF Eareckson Air Station is almost at the western end of the Aleutian chain - just east of Attu… … roughly 1000km from the Russian base at Elizovo / Petropavlovsk - so a lot closer than the mainland Alaskan bases
  16. Quite right, and the reason I “landed” on Enterprise as a potential option… the famous class mates don’t fit the Hellcat era but would be a fantastic addition to the game (and a good reason to look at Wildcat, Devastator and Dauntless etc…) I suppose my starting point was - why would ED leave the field open to 3rd parties… especially having developed the CV module tech for supercarrier - and if it follows that there needs to be an ED WW2 “supercarrier equivalent… then which??? A CVL or CVE would be an interesting, and very challenging proposition… Bogue class were operated by the RN with a full suite of carrier aircraft (there seems to be some debate as to whether USN operated Corsairs from CVEs) Alternatively - an Illustrious class carrier would be a really good fit. All 4 class members had an impressive combat record, with Victorious even joining US Carrier Division 1 with Saratoga - as USS Robin… … and the British Pacific Fleet carved out a (relatively little known) name for themselves during 1945
  17. SHAR FRS1 - Fighter 1st and foremost? It’s not a SRF1 or RSF1…. ”closest aircraft”… agreed, in that if they ever faced off - but, what in a similar way to a Bf-109E vs a Gloster Gladiator??? All hypothetical of course, but the A2A capabilities of both point to the likely outcome?? Soviet Naval doctrine was massed cruise missile attacks on surface fleets, so the SHAR probably wouldn’t have a home Yak 38 closest to a USMC AV8A - which was what…? US bought version of the early RAF GR series aircraft and not in the same mould as the Sea Harrier which is exactly the point I was (trying to) make… Sea Harrier is a different bird altogether… OK, so I guess general agreement re the Harrier GR1-3 / AV8A series aircraft… somewhat more successful though???
  18. Very true… … but WW2 Pacific needs carriers to make any sense at all… Why make a backdated Marianas map and float ideas of an F6F without your own carrier module?? of course, though, I’ll be happy enough if the carrier ships with the Hellcat
  19. Yep, that’s what I posted… If the Essex is covered, what should ED bring to the party… … ie, they have “Super Carrier” for modern ops - so what would be the equivalent ED “WW2 Feet Carrier” to a similar level of tech. Can’t see that ED would leave Pacific solely to a 3rd party dev, and they surely won’t do another Essex class. So, Yorktown, Enterprise and Hornet?? As a Brit I’d prefer Illustrious, Formidable, Indomitable and Victorious, but you couldn’t ask for a more famous trio than those three USN carriers
  20. I’m still struggling to understand the comparisons being made with the Harrier… Yes, they are both VSTOL aircraft, and in offering up the Sea Harrier as an equivalent, both were developed for naval operation from smaller sized carriers. That’s it, end of comparison… The AV8B NA that we actually have in DCS is a much more modern and capable strike aircraft… NO COMPARISON to the Yak The Sea Harrier FRS1 is (was) a fleet air defence fighter - again NO COMPARISON with the Yak… I suppose the closest blue comparison would have been the Harrier GR3s operated from the Falklands Task Force ships I still hold some hope that Razbam bring the FRS1 and GR3 to DCS, but they’ve made the (IMHO) utterly bonkers decision to prioritise other aircraft instead, whilst looking to bring a South Atlantic / Falklands map to DCS
  21. So, WW2 Pacific definitely needs carriers… With Magnitude 3 doing the Essex class, ED must surely be looking at what to offer alongside the speculated F6F… I suspect a Yorktown class is the most likely (Enterprise…? or all 3) But, as unlikely as it might seem, I’d also strongly advocate for a RN Illustrious class carrier…. (would fit Pacific, Atlantic and Med theatres)
  22. Fascinating Cold War ops from the Aleutian Islands… the sums of money in these black ops programmes is eye watering given the dates Shemya, Rivet Ball, Rivet Amber Looks like Shemya AFB is west of the Bering Strait…!
  23. Small? Single engine?? Single crew??? that will be the Spitfire, then
  24. Fair point regarding intended role for the Yak.
  25. Not sure the comparison with the Sea Harrier is valid
